28 / 11. Tuesday.

Sometimes, my husband and I enjoy having brunch during the week at home instead of a typical Menu del Día as we live in The Madrid Capital.
Eggs Benedict is quite versatile and can be prepared with either Smoked Salmon or Bacon or Ham. Eggs Florentine is quite a healthy alternative and French toast is always quite endearing.

Big bowl of chilli
I might have a second one, now I come to think of it.

I think it's on the way to the UK.

Cheese and biscuits.
Boring but we had been out and it was quick.
DH had home-made paté on toast.

With Burns Night approaching I am already making culinary plans
I’m planning to host a Scottish-themed dinner party for some equally posh friends, and I want to get it right. To give you an idea of how posh we all are, our local chippy serves fish and chips in a briefcase, none of your paper and crap. I intend welcoming my guests with pre-dinner drinks of chilled Irn Bru (with cherry on a stick, of course). Then, for starters, I thought I would serve —langurs— —languors— prawns, triple fried in Loch Morlich spring water with Marie Rose sauce. For the main course, I thought I’d do baked Hebridean haggis on a bed of crushed neeps, served with samphire shavings and a truffle jus. For dessert, I was thinking of doing fried mars bar and custard made with Highland cow’s milk and a twatty mint leaf stuck on the top. I would follow all that with after dinner drinks of lightly chilled Buckfast with After Eight mints.

For brunch today I had the last of the blackberry and apple, blueberries, a chopped banana and two wheat biscuits at about 1pm.
16 x 8 fasting, my usual.

Charlie Bigham popped round and made us a curry.

Georgesgran

This what I got when I googled.
Maybe some of the OP’s post was a bit lost in translation.
Perhaps he/she might return to clarify?

This is a daily occurence.

I have stated twice, that I had no idea what this is about.

I have never seen this before nor do I ever purchase online.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

I had to make my own fish pie this evening.

It’ll be brunch, since I never want anything first thing. For a change, a half pack of spinach and ricotta tortellini (we had 1.5 packs the other night) with the leftover tomato sauce.

😁 Thank you.

It was very good, though I say it myself. Gave Charlie a run for his money!
It looked big enough for six portions but somehow four people managed to finish it all with the help of an unexpected very hungry guest.

Fish pie for us tomorrow evening! Haven’t made one for ages but I’ve got some frozen smoked haddock that needs using up. White fish and some small prawns added, parsley and a splash of white wine in the sauce, maybe a little cheese, lots of cheese-topped mash on top. 😋

We often have bacon and egg for breakfast on Saturday but DH is helping DS1 take garden rubbish to the dump and went out early.

Think we'd better have a full English when he gets back.

I have just seen a recipe for "Potato omelette" or possibly "Omelette potatoes" as it was in French.
Drizzle potatoeswith olive oil, s+p allowing 1 or 2 per head depending on size and appetite and bake. Then slice "lids" off and scoop out the flesh . Discard lids, for 6 medium potatoes mix with 4 eggs, (beaten), finely chopped red onion , parsley or chives., grated cheese (mozzarella or cheddar) and chopped ham. Refill the shells.
Return to the oven at 170C for approx 10 minutes
Sounds like a nice brunch.
Anybody tried these?

kittylester Sat 20-Jan-24 11:58:09

I do something like that but halve the potatoes and scoop out the halves before adding the egg mixed with fried bacon and onion and topped with grated cheese.

Thanks for reminding me - haven't done it for ages.

To Whom it may concern,

The postal codes of The Madrid Capital and the Madrid Autonomous Region all begin with:

28001, 28002, 20003 etcetra ..

I have no connection to postal code 80049 .. IT IS NOT IN MADRID ..

So, this is the last time I shall comment on this.

The Administrator can remove the post if she / he wishes.

However, I have no connection to that address or that postal code.

The one I made was very similar but without prawns which can bring me out in itchy lumps.

Callistemon21 Sat 20-Jan-24 15:53:34

Cod, salmon and smoked haddock 🙂

kittylester Sat 20-Jan-24 16:02:42

I don't use prawns - DH is allergic - but do add fried mushrooms, quartered cherry tomatoes and a 'cube' or two of frozen spinach. Fancy the idea of wine in the sauce.

Saturday:

20 / 01 / 2024

Lunch ..

Since it had been quite awhile (just before the Christmas holidays) that we went to Cava Baja, the tapas bars of antiguity in La Latina, we decided it to be a worthwhile busride ..

We stopped at Casa Lucas, our favourite for "oxtail" (rabo de toro) with all its traditional glory. Then we headed over to El Tempranillo just a few metres away for assorted canapés.

In route back up to the Puerta del Sol and FNAC, the renowned French book shop, music and electronics Department Store, we window shopped and stopped at Zara, one of our favourite clothing shops.

The sales here started on the 8th of January and shall run through the 23rd of January.

Then, for hot chocolate & Churros at San Gines, one of the oldest venues in the Capital dating back to 1880 or so.

Nice weekend wishes.
