How much does your Green Waste Collection cost?

Here in Edinburgh it's free and collected every two weeks...as are the landfill bins. Each household has their own wheelie bin where I live but other areas have huge metal communal bins bolted to the pavements... usually overflowing. Food bins are collected weekly. Also free. Garden bins are collected every two weeks and cost £25pa with a sticker with the address on so they know you've paid. No bags of any kind are provided.

Here in Essex (UK) all waste collected, recycling of tins, glass, paper cardboard etc and green and food waste, is free at the point of collection.
Of course we pay council tax, so indirectly we do pay.

Garden waste collected fortnightly …. no charge. No collection during 3/4 mo ths of winter!

Included in Council tax. Collected two weekly during summer, 4 weekly from autumn. Green waste includes food waste. Council provides a good service but and I just can't accept the reason why not, will not collect any glass eg bottles. Reason given - health and safety! Other Councils in UK must be ignoring H&S!

Forgot to say bins for general rubbish, green and food recycling, food caddies for the kitchen and recycling bags are all provided at no cost. We only have to by biodegradable bags for the food caddy if we wish to.

But I know some councils charge …. my friend in Hertfordshire pays a nominal £20 or £30 per annum… can’t remember which
I live only thirty miles away in Bedfordshire and don’t pay.

netflix fan, I've just read some posts that have arrived whilst I was writing mine, so only now have read yours. Sorry to disappoint you, but RBWM would no doubt be categorised as the 'leafy south' in your eyes, and you will see that we are paying far more than many!

It used to be included in our council tax.. now it's £39 PA for the last 3 years . I have little choice, I have a large garden which have to be mowed and hedges trimmed , so the cuttings have to be taken away, therefore I cannot, not pay!..
However I'm on a very low state pension and it's a struggle for me to find the money each year..

Green waste collected every week, included in council tax.

Fortnightly, no charge. Gap in the winter, can't exactly recall when as there was (is) a bin strike this year which affected it.

Leafy south here ( N.W Hampshire) Very Tory controlled Think we pay about £40 a year for green waste collection... the wheelie bin is then provided
Apart from landfill waste and recycling paper collection fortnightly which are charged for through the local taxes ( can't remember what they are called now.... despair of the lot) I must take the rest myself to the appropriate disposal points having booked a slot in advance. .... bottles, jars, food waste not collected from the house. no idea which agency I should approach to get rid of large electrical items which have died on me..........This used to be a monthly collection of stuff left at the kerbside in the long lost past

Leafy South again - Buckinghamshire (Tory) council have just introduced a charge of £50 p.a., formerly free - not popular!

London borough barking & Dagenham charge £40pa although the service is only for 6 months of the year and a fortnightly collection.

In Greater London I pay £55pa for a fortnightly collection. Bin or bags, same price. This has gone up each year for the last 3 years.

In Somerset we buy paper bags (£52 for 20) and book a collection online within the rota on offer. It's more expensive than what we had in Surrey and not as good a deal as you who get it free in the Council Tax.

Scotland. Definitely not Tory controlled!

No extra charge (part of council tax) collected fortnightly. That said we never use the service as we recycle our green waste ourselves, and there's a LOT of it. We now have five compost bins, two of them are full to overflowing with homemade compost, but by the end of the year it will all have been used around the garden.

Norfolk. brown bin for garden waste fortnightly, £58 annually. Ordinary waste and recycling bins alternate weeks. Food waste weekly.

I am a bit confused are we talking about green waste as in hedge clippings and garden waste? or are we talking about the recycling bin (with a list of what can go in on the lid?) The former in Leeds are Brown bins...only distributed to the leafy large house suburbs and the latter green bins which are collected fortnightly compared to the general waste (black bins) collected weekly.
Because of careless use of the green bins the council stopped a lot of them in the student areas charging a one off £15 for one if requested. This seems to have gone by the bye now. There is still a lot of contamination in them...bins left in streets bins are bins..transient letters don't seem to care much. No fines, no charges but a bit of bin chaos.

Herts - but not all of Herts do the same.
Last year for the first time we had to pay £45 for an all year round collection of garden waste. We get a special sticker to put on our bins.
We were told this was instead of putting it on the council tax which they felt was unfair to those in flats etc who have no gardens.

I live in the Highlands of Scotland and this years fees are £47.75 per bin We have (and need) three brown bins i.e. £143.25 per annum. We have a fortnightly collection, with none during the winter months.

We are also Herts, collection free for black, brown and green bins.

10 months fortnightly £43
Going to ask about senior discount, but don't hold much hope ?
