New grandchild in 2013?

I know there are a few of us in happy anticipation of a new grandchild this year. My daughter's baby is due in February and she's chosen NOT to know the gender; although names for either have been chosen and I do like them both very much. I am very excited at the prospect of being present at the birth, as I was with daughter's first baby - and happily my lovely son in law is glad to share the experience.
Who else is an expectant gran/grandfather?

maggie congratulations to you, too flowers

Are we still waiting for news fom ga's daughter? I do hope she's ok.

I have just had a blissful hour cuddling my new grandson. Checked the other lovely babies on the ward, and it was obvious that he is by far the most adorable. grin

Hope all is ok with GA and her daughter.

Nothing like it is there when

Maggie -congratulations.

My daughter went for the trace and 'met the criteria' confused so she did go shopping! Then she and Bertie turned up here for a cuppa and a wrecking session!!

Can't put it into words but there is nothing like the surge of love you feel for a new grandbaby is there?

Happy to report I'm home and so is daughter! She's been tested, monitored, poked, prodded and pricked, but the end result was to send her home to rest and wait. Again! Poor thing; her GP and midwife keep finding problems and they send her to hospital - she then spends hours being tested before being told the medics will 'wait and see' how things progress. She's pretty much down in the dumps now as even though she's not usually a worrier she's getting a little bit anxious about being so often on the 'borderline' of problems for her health or baby's. Still, only a few more weeks to go and then we'll be celebrating along with other new mums and grannies. smile
Glad to see Grannylin back with us and when's lovely new photo of Declan with his dad.

whenim He is lovely! Congratulations. Dad looks very relaxed which is more than I can say for my SIL with his first child.

Its good reading all this. I thought I had gone way OTT when my first GS arrived at the end of September. Go Grannies! Get sniffing those lovely babies heads!
Congrats to all. flowers

ga I hope your daughter has some time relax now. Those last few weeks shoud be a time of happy anticipation.

Just heard that baby grandson will be going home later today, which is great as we were expecting it to be weekend (mum's c-section was a bit scary, post-partum hemhorrage, but she's fine). Guess what I'll be doing tomorrow? Can't wait for that lovely moment in a comfy armchair with a sweet-selling newborn grandchild smile

Lovely to hear of all the new babies. Our grandson no.2 arrives in April, a little brother for Grandson no.1 who is two and a half and talks about the baby - don't think he has any idea what's going on, bless. I was taken aback by how much love I had for the first baby - can only imagine that the second will be overwhelming!!

My 3rd grandchild is due on Mar 10, but he might well arrive earlier in contrast to his two sisters who decided to make their entry later than their due date. We kiddingly say he might well decide to make his grand entrance on Mar 5 which happens to be the birth date of both my husband and son!

Ariadne Sat 09-Feb-13 05:41:42

Wouldn't that be lovely, porpor?

Hello fellow grans - he's here!!!!!!!!!!
Daughter phoned me just after 4am and said waters broken and contractions coming strong. The WM stayed with grandson whilst I went to hospital with the happy couple. On arrival there were problems with foetal heartbeat that persisted. At 7.30am due to foetal distress the doctor was called. Long story short;forceps, shoulder dystocia - baby dragged into the world, but he's here and he's gorgeous (of course I would say that!). His name is Ralph Henry, and he's a good 7lb 6.5oz. Daughter and son in law both were stoical and calm when it all seemed to be going awry, I am very proud of them. Just returned from the hospital now and heading to bed. Will try to post photo tomorrow. Happy grin!
