Your darling GD (22mths) hold up her arms to be picked up, then asks you to get an annoying bogey out of her nose, guiding your finger, then saying 'there!' in a soothing voice, kissing you and grinning. Love her!

Or when the grandson calls downstairs ‘grandma! Can you wipe my bottom?’. ?

I love the feeling of the moment you feel a smaller hand reaching out for yours when you are walking along together... and not only little hands now as eldest DGD is still happy to hold my hand

My 7 year old GD always holds my hand when we see her, and yesterday told me I was her "bestest-ever Mamma"

When you get the wind knocked out of you by DGS charging out of the school door and leaping up at you for a bear hug.

My lovely little granddaughter aged 3 was watching me get undressed the other day, when i took my bra off she said in a low voice WOW ! then I love you grandma. It's a long time anyone said that when they'd seen me naked lol .

Aren’t they the best thing. A while ago now as she’s older but carrying granddaughter up the stairs to bed she suddenly looked at me snuggled into my neck and said “ oh Granny I love you so much” absolutely priceless!

When you turn over in bed to find a little GC has crept in during the night.
On asking one GC why they woke up early when they stayed here, they replied I love you so much Grandma just don’t want to miss you by sleeping!!!

At 18 months gc would switch on the computer and shout GRANDMA, because that's where I lived, inside.

When a toddler came and I asked for a cuddle, then he kept coming up for a cuddle every time I walked in the room.

Oh these are wonderful!

Yes, they are lovely.
My GD was just learning to write, still needing to ask how to spell even short words and some help with letters, when she produced a sheet of paper decorated with the waste bits from around stickers. It read 'I love my Gran'. It's safely stored away. Another time, she and I were walking, hand in hand, around the garden. She was still pre-school age, her parents had separated and her dad had brought her to stay for a couple of days. As we walked she said 'I like it here with you, Gran'. I can't tell you how that made me feel.
A friend once told me that you're as passionate about your GCs as about your own children. I'd say more so.

Sadly, I've seen very little of my grandchildren as they grow up. They all live far away, apart for one who is now an adult.
I'm closest to my first grandson. They live in Kuwait, and when he was 6 weeks old his parents had to go back to work. Their live-in nanny had been called away so they asked me to come and look after him until she returned.
I was very nervous, but he was a sweet baby, not difficult, and we're still very close. He's just had his 16th birthday.
We see them about 3 times a year.

When your 18 year old six foot four Grandson gives you one of his hugs. Fab !

My sixteen year old step grandson came recently and gave me such a lovely hug.

As Fennel said, my grandchildren live abroad too, in USA. I paid a surprise visit at Christmas, knocking on my six year old granddaughter's bedroom door. She opened it and squealed in delight ..... "Ohhhhh Garrrrry (heir name for me!). I can't BELIEVE you're here, accompanied by huge hugs and kisses..... Priceless! (Funnily enough, she'd asked to FaceTime me that day as she missed me so much! When I didn't answer her mum had to tell her that I'd 'probabiy gone to the shops,'
My daughter was taking photo's at the time and had them made into a card.... Lovely!!! I doooo miss them ?

Such lovely memories. I feel so blessed by my four grandchildren and I know I treasure everything they say and do far more than I did with my own children. I was always so busy when they were growing up. Yesterday, staying the night at their home, my oldest granddaughter informed me that I had kept her awake because I snored so loudly but she didn’t mind because she loves me!

Facetime call this morning at 8am from 3 year old grandson (&daddy) saying "are you coming to pick me up nan, I miss you'. Heart melting. Lucky us, they live 7 minute walk away so of course I'll pick him up - anytimegrin

My 3 year old DGS is obsessed with my arms - he dashes up to me, rolls up my sleeve and clutches my arm and rubs his cheek up against it. When he arrives he yells "Cuddle arm!" - crazy boy.

Yesterday when he was leaving he said "I wish I had a chain saw then I could chop your arm off and take it with me!" - lovely!

craftycarol Sat 09-Feb-19 09:59:30

When saying 'love you' to your grandson (4) he says 'love you more' and this goes back and forth adding more words for a few minutes until finally he says 'love you the moon and stars AND FIREWORKS!' Couldn't better that, could I?

Albangirl14 Sat 09-Feb-19 10:02:44

On Thursday when I was saying goodbye to my grandchildren the 26 month old little boy held up his arms and said Hug for the first time. So lovely

fitwell Sat 09-Feb-19 10:06:38

When I pick her up from nursery she runs to me shouting nana, you’re here and jumps into my arms, then sings all the way home, but if I attempt to join in she says no nana, you don’t sing, I do have a terrible voice,

We only have one precious Grandaughter at the moment and she is growing fast...she is such a happy, easy going child and we treasure every moment together. I asked her one day if she would like some immediate cousins as we were discussing the possibility of more grandchildren from our youngest son one day..(she has second cousins in the north from her lovely mum's family).... she looked a bit unsure, then said.. "Well, yes Nanna, but then I'd have to share you wouldn't I?".. ? love her to bits. ?

Luckygirl.. ??? that made me chuckle.
