Your darling GD (22mths) hold up her arms to be picked up, then asks you to get an annoying bogey out of her nose, guiding your finger, then saying 'there!' in a soothing voice, kissing you and grinning. Love her!

One gs says to me "nana I love you all the way round my back" which started with "I love you this much" and using the hands apart as a guide but the gap got wider and wider until he said they went all the way round his back and now he is says it without acting it out.
my other gs who is younger says "nana I love you one hundred weeks" I have no idea where that came from .

My youngest granddaughter lives abroad so haven't seen her much apart from Skype but we visited her, her older sister and baby brother for her birthday in November. One night, when reading a bedtime story, she started stroking my hair and said "nanny you are so beautiful, you should ask grandad to marry you (we are married)". Such a sweetie, but, when we were leaving and having our last drink with other grandad who was taking us to the airport, she asked to play. I told her that we were having to go home soon and had no time but she said that she didn't want me to play she was asking if she could play as she was quite capable of playing by herself. That brought me down off my pedestal!

I've so enjoyed these posts. I've got two granddaughters and they are the light of my life. They warm the cockles of your heart, don't they - the bum wiping, the chaos, the exhaustion - all wonderful.

My 4yr old GS was going back home 320 miles away after their stay at Christmas and he looked up at me and said " will you miss me Granny?" I could hardly speak as I cuddled him tight and said " yes darling lots and lots" and I felt his little arms grip me hard.

When my daughter chat-messages me from Australia my almost-two GD would say hello, but usually wandered off to play. Yesterday she asked her Mummy to "Get Grandma." chattered away to me for quite a while, and 'read' a book to me. Then she said, Come to my house!" When I explained that I was a long way away she sadly said, "Grandma's in the phone." I miss her so much, and can't visit until November.

I have partial dentures when on holidays with my grandchildren my grandson always asks if he can brush my dentures of course I ensure he washes his hands afterwards . Think he is intrigued by them .He is seven . He is always the first to run and give me the biggest hug as soon as I get out of my car . He was my first grandchild then his sister my granddaughter three years later . I love them the same but seems like two different relationships .

It is hard when we are far away.
I've visited second son and family in India twice. They're not used to having a granny, as they're adopted, but they still call me that.
I once explained that I'm their Dad's Mother, and talked to them about him growing up etc. It's about identity and the child knowing they have roots somewhere.
