Jud Darling Georgie girl. It's celebratory all round. If only I had cake in the cupboard. I wish. When I read that Georgie had stood unaided, I also had a tear in my eye. And, would you believe, the sun is shining brightly. It's as if it too is celebrating the good news.

anno When I was a child, I was burned by the sun every time we went on holiday. The sun was considered to be beneficial...which it is in many respects. The skin would peel and out came the pink lotion...name was something like Calomine...could be a different spelling. I would go to bed caked in the stuff.

kitty are you by any chance going to Aldeburgh for your break? DH took me for a weekend on our first anniversary to a lovely hotel there. We'd been for the day a lot but never stayed before. It was lovely.

What a wonderful heartwarming photo of Georgie, followed by the most amazing news of her standing alone. A just reward for your love and patience jud.. now then ann please do not worry too much about scarring. In my nursing experience I found great care was taken with tiny sutures akin to those used by plastics teams. Scarring should be barely noticeable. The sting of the local will be the worst.

greyduster so pleased you got to Chatsworth . It was beautiful here too Today a pleasing start descending into greyness and rain. I feel cold too today, although I did stay out in the greenhouse for a while. Takes ages sowing seeds with one hand!! At least I feel further progress with no pain, better movement and far less swelling.

OH up since sparrowfart as it was the annual mallard gathering and sorting out of various urgent agenda items if the noise outside our bedroom was anything to go by. He counted 38. They have all disappeared again now. Just a pair of moorhens and a solitary Grebe.

I quite often lurk on here and I'm so glad to hear about Georgies' improving mobility. We used to have dogs, but after our lovely Abby went we couldn't face the sadness of their leaving again, and also it does mean that you can't just dash off if you feel like it. I went with friends to Bushy Park this morning and saw my friend with her lovely Great Dane and Irish wolfhound puppy who now bigger than her Dane! GF lemon drizzle here if anyone would like a slice?

NonnaW, it is Aldeburgh - one of my favourite places ever. We have been going there since DS1 was 5/6 and the hotel was a Trust House. We always tried to stay in Trust Houses if there was one available. We try to go once or twice a year for a few days as we find it very relaxing.

I'm now going to take my boot off and check how my foot has fared - wish me luck.

Seeing a Dr tomorrow morning kittyl but as it seems to be going down I am thinking it wasn't a DVT but just (?) a spread of the thrombophlebitis. Of course by the time you get an appointment, whatever it is is usually getting better! Cunning plan by the NHS - a version of "wait and see".
DH can barely walk across the room this afternoon. The ongoing management does worry me when I think about it so I try not to, is that awful? I just expect to cross each bridge when I come to it

kitty you wouldn't have envied me if you, like me, had followed a nice lunch with a climb up a very long, steep flight of what seemed like hundreds of stone steps which DH insisted on taking up through Stand Wood to the Hunting Tower. "It's a short cut!" he said. Well it might be but when we got back to the car my legs didn't feel as if they belonged to me. I need to lose some weight.

Izabella glad to hear you seem to be on the mend. It must be very frustrating being restricted to one hand. We set off today in lovely sunshine and it rained as soon as we got out of the car; it cleared up later, but yes, I was cold too. As much as we can expect for this time of the year I suppose. Just nice to get out.

Maw my dh's Hb was 5 before his transplant. It's the only time I could walk faster than him!

Got my DGC here today with darling daughter. The monster ( now 6/12 old) is the size of a one year old. Had lovely cuddles with eidetic now 5 1/2. Middle one doesn't really go to anyone but she tolerates 'graggy ' as there's always chocolate and raspberries here!

We had a lovely day with the other grandparents helping our newly five-year-old to enjoy her day. It was a happy occasion. She wore her new swimsuit over her best dress for quite a while. Children are so funny!

Greyduster It's a man thing. MacSporran is famed for his "short cuts" that frankly go nowhere fast. Whenever we visit somewhere for the first time, we leave home with several pages of instructions on which road to take, landmarks that are useful to know, blah blah, Nine times out of ten, we get lost. I no longer wish to pull into a layby to discuss where it was we went wrong...I insist on asking someone at a garage or shop or walking the dog. It seems to work very nicely, thank you.

The weather has been very pleasant. Tomorrow, before the care home visit, we need to take the car into the garage again. The pot holes in Kintyre are a disgrace. The suspension is wrecked in next to no time. Repairs are costing us dear.

I did laugh about the getting lost thing soop. OH refuses to ask anyone anything. He'd rather continue being in the wrong place, thinking it will suddenly come right. I'm happy to immediately stop and ask a dog walker, passerby, person in a shop, in a garage, I have no problem with that and am grateful to be put back on course. Luckily now I do all the driving so just wind down the window at the first chance, while he protests away. Is that just a man thing? When we used to do long walks it was the same. Sometimes I needed reassurance that we were on the right footpath, and would say, let's ask this couple coming towards us, and he would mutter, No, don't, through clenched teeth. I did of course as never fancied getting it wrong on a walk. It's such a simple thing to ask someone and I just can't understand the male (or is it just my DH?) reluctance to ask.

Hmm, it's not Mr C who won't ask for directions, whether during a journey or finding something in a shop it seems to be me .

What terrific news about Georgie, jud. You have had such a stressful time since her accident and it must have seemed interminable. I hope it won't be very long before she takes her first steps. Imagine if she has taken a liking to being wheeled around in a pram!
MawBroon, I hope DH is improving and that the GP sets your mind at rest about your poorly leg.

8Jud* I loved the pram but I did not think from Georgie's facial expression that is was her best gift. Great to hear that she stood by herself. On a practical side, it will be easier to clean her when she is standing and maybe cut away some of the longer hairs to help both of you. A pity it was not warmer because then, with your wellie boots on you could stand her outside and hope that she does her business.

MawBroon that Hb really is very low so I am not surprised that he joins Grace and has a snooze or three.

I have never seen so much plaster dust in my life- the 3 fellows attempting to clean it should all return to cleaning school. The dust is in every room in the house.

Well I have not been on GN much for the last few days and I seem to have missed a lot.
I try to avoid spending too much time on here in the mornings, I find that once I sit down and put on my laptop I can be on here for hours.

It seems I just get to stick my head into the kitchen at a very late "last thing at night." Trying to catch up with all the posts is becoming overwhelming.

I hope all of you awaiting medical consultations get good news. I am very pleased to hear about Georgie dog's progress. I hope it continues.
About time I went to bed before it's tomorrow.

I was watching TV this evening merrily knitting away and when I got to the top of the sleeve I discovered I did not have enough stitches. I had failed to do a whole section of increases on the sleeve. So 2/3rds of it have been pulled out. Knitters will know how frustrating that is .

Just returned from Gracie's bedtime walkie and she "did a whoopsie" right on a neighbour's drive so I had to go back with a watering can of soapy water to swoosh it away
No chance of rain either!
Should have been in bed ages ago, need to be up at 6 as DH is slow in the mornings and we need to be gone by 7.30
