Morning all, just popping in before a shift in the library. I really enjoy it when I get there but the effort of getting ready isn't thrilling me.

Maw, hope it goes well today. I think I have missed something - I thought you were going to the gp, is DH going for a treatment too.

I agree with Nellie there is so much going on in the kitchen and it's difficult to keep up.

Dreadful this morning. Retching since I brought him his tea at 6, no temperature but quite confused and needed gentle shepherding. Eating some Shredded Wheat now so hope we are on track for MKH at 8.

Oh dear Maw. How difficult things are for you at the moment! I hope you get some help with DH's condition today. He sounds really poorly.

We are very pleased with our dog drawing, it wasn't cheap but we thought it was worth it. We sent loads of photos and trusted him to pick the best, which he did.

Maw hope the hospital visit went well, must be so worrying for you.

We are off soon to the cancer unit at our hospital for DH's regulation check on the prostate cancer. Luckily so far it has responded to radiotherapy and the hormone injections and last time his PSA levels were at the lowest they could measure. Hopefully it will be the same again today.

Kitty I didn't realise there were Trust properties available in Aldeburgh. I think it's time we had another visit, but maybe when it warms up a bit!

Maw,you and DH are having a really rough time this week. Will you have a chance to put your feet up today while he is having his transfusion? Sending restorative vibes to both of you.

Not doing much today really, got to make a dentist appointment, go for a walk (aiming at 10,000 steps per day and more or less sticking to it), then a Sainsbury's shop. Pizza for tea in front of the One Show and double Corrie. It's all rock'n'roll round our 'ouse.
Special hello to Cornergran who wonders where I am when I don't pop up here.
I shall pop in again soon, bringing mince pies if that's acceptable. Yes, I know ... I know ... but they were made by my son and have been in the freezer since Christmas and I shall make a complete pig of myself very soon. He's an excellent mince-pie maker which he gets from my mum-in-law who always had a full cake-tin for unexpected guests. Bless her.

I'm having an easy day today after a busy week, biting my tongue around my troubled 14 year old granddaughter and trying to encourage her mum in finding the right support. We tried our best to give them all a nice few days with us but boy was it tough at times!
I was called to a meeting last night at the hospice where I volunteer, to be told that there are big changes afoot which will alter how things are done. All very depressing really. When I got back home my lovely old boy had done a great job clearing up after the visiting family left. He can really pull it out the bag when it's needed.
Had a gynae appt this week (on Valentine's Day, how appropriate!!) and am now on a waiting list for various bits of repair work, am now paying the price for all those babies! Not sure what I think about it all and don't much like the sound of it. Told my old boy there had best be flowers this year
since romance got me into this mess and bless him there were!

Granniequeenie the best you thing you can say about troublesome teens is they do eventually grow out of it. Your 'old boy' sounds like a keeper too ! I have one of those and they are few and far between.

Kitty our QOTU ( Queen of the Universe) is not for turning that's for sure. But it was the first time we have done the dinner our and sleepover and all of her own accord she texted us when she went home and thanked us for being the best grandparents EVER ! She is growing up so quickly.

I feel your pain Nellie , I'm a knitter and how often have I knitted a whole section sans pattern and had to pull it all back argh!!!

I just want to share one bit of news. A young friend of our youngest daughter had a terrible accident 2 years ago which resulted in such severe burns they thought she would not make it. She is such a pretty , optimistic, talented young woman, mum to 3 daughters - we thought our hearts would break.

Fast forward to this month and she is officially my hero. I cant describe the burns to her legs and body they are full thickness and cover 70% of her body. Or the number of operations and pain she has endured just to be able to walk.

She announced a new man in her life on Valentines Day. They make such a lovely couple and she is alight with joy. We were so honoured that they chose to include us in their announcement and I have every admiration for the young man who clearly realises she is a 'keeper' . In your thoughts today - please send some love and luck their way = they so deserve a long and happy life together xx

I'm fine thanks, no DVT just possibly a spread of the phlebitis but as it is going down anyway, noet to worry about.
DH will be in until late afternoon, concern about why his Bp had dropped so much in a week so I believe hope the consultant will be having a word with him.

Felling stressed on DD's behalf now though , they were due to fly out (all 5 of them) tomorrow for a week's skiing hol. Today DD finds DGS2's passport has expired. Insurance won't cover the cancellation, as it is their fault but with moving in 10 days time, jobs, 3 children under 7 it is the sort of thing that escapes you. His passport would have been issued when he was a baby but only for 5 years. SIL is on his way to the passport office inNewport (!) , but I can only imagine the atmosphere in that house. That is it would be in that house if SIL hadn't driven off with DD's house keys so she is locked out. The cleaner is away, the nanny likewise and of course the house is impregnable.
I used to have keys but gave them back as they are moving. ???

Maw, When sorrows come, they come not single spies but in battalions. When Shakespeare wrote that line, he must have been thinking of you! I know you are worried about your DD's family and the passport issue but there is absolutely nothing you can do about it, so do try to put it to the back of your mind. When I lost my passport, I hot-footed it to Liverpool where the staff at the Passport Office couldn't do too much for me and issued a new one miraculously quickly. Just as well as I was off to Paris the next day. You wont be surprised to hear that the original passport subsequently turned up in a drawer that I'd searched a dozen times!

Just popped in to say that DH's PSA results are still any minimum so great news there. Only downside was that the lovely oncology doctor told us she is transferring back to Addenbrookes so we will be seeing someone new next time. She has been so lovely, but I'm sure the next doctor will be just as good. On the scale of things, nothing!

Well good morning to all you kitcheners, and my best to all who have health worries at the moment, either for themselves or their nearest and dearest (even the four legged ones). Life is a b****r sometimes.

Izabella river watching is my favourite occupation. I am drawn to them like a magnet. Always something interesting to see, whether it is a stretch of the Wye or an urban stream.

N&G what a happy photograph! Your granddaughter has a lovely smile! Half term here next week, but we will only see GS for a day, as the other day he usually spends with us he is going to Harry Potter World with his mum and dad (his birthday present!).

We have been out this morning to get DH some new joggers - he is trying walking football on Monday, and the ones he has are covered in paint! He also bought some shorts (his optimism knows no bounds!). I think the footie will be a flash in the pan, but who knows! At least he is giving it a go. I gave him a fright this morning; I drove back from our shopping expedition and had a Top Gear moment, screaming into the drive almost on two wheels. Well I'm still getting used to this car ?. I stopped before I hit the stone planter by the front door, with the front sensors going bonkers.

Any ideas on cooking hard cod roe and what to serve it with? Just been on the allotment and done an hours one handed work after I got home. An easy afternoon with a book I think. Having one of those "feeling tired" days. OH had a phone call from the fracture clinic enquiringly why I had missed my appointment this morning. HE explained we went on Monday. Hardly reassuring on the record keeping front! They sounded doubtful until he told them what they did and who saw me. They were aghast I was working on the allotment and worriedly asked if I was OK. He informed them I was stubborn. ?

I love them to bits but boy- are they noisy? As this is normally a very quiet house I really feel it!

Wishing all with health/family problems all the best, life can be very difficult sometimes. Nust had annual catch up lunch with old friend, plenty of chat. Came home to find DH sorting out his clothes for his trip with Jubilee Sailing Trust. He is gong to Canaries getting on a tall ship, sailng up to the Azores, and then back to Southampton. He has to do it this year as he has a big birthday next year and they won't take you after that. He loves sailng and I'm not keen so I'm really pleased that he's decided to go.

Have a nice little Galen, I find it helps when the treasures have gone. Mine went the day before yesterday and the house is just about back to normal.
