Morning all! Just popped in to say that I hope Maw and Paw had a peaceful night and that today is a better day.

We have Bertie and Persie today and I might not get back till later but I will be thinking about you both.

A bit short of sleep (midnight till 3.30, then 4 ish till 6) but there may be a glimmer. Heard paw moving at 6 and went through to find him out of bed and heading for the en suite. Helped him to the loo (he was half asleep but I THINK less confused) then back,to bed. My technique of "double inco pants" seemed to have cured the leaking problem so no wet sheets or pj bottoms. He also seems to have slept peacefully after a disturbed patch between 10 and 12. Perhaps it was acute dehydration, if so, a dreadful warning as the symptoms were very like a UTI and the mental confusion a difficult complication to cope with.

Sounds as if you got a bit more sleep Maw albeit with one ear open all the time I expect. Hope Paw settles today and that you can then relax a bit from a state of constant watchfulness and anticipation. That is exhausting of itself.

Glad to hear the better news of Rory too - he clearly still has a number of his nine lives left.

Maw not the best night's sleep for you but hopefully with help for Paw this am you will be able to sit down, with a cup of coffee and put your feet up.

I know how distressing it is for you but you must look after yourself. Are your DDs aware of the situation or is everything more relaxed now that Paw is home according to DD3?

Is Hattie okay and coping with the extra influx of people?

Easy to say but difficult to do- please look after yourself. Your virtual friends are all behind you.

Sounds as if paw is edging in the right direction maw. Rest when you can today, keep the fluids going if he will. Please phone for medical help if you need it. Everything crossed for you both.

Sounds like you will be needing an afternoon nap Maw but glad to hear Paw may be making his way back. Hopefully, you will be able to post later that he seems better when he wakes.

Not much going on here. Met the little boys in town yesterday unexpectedly ( not on their own - they were with their Mummy!!) and they persuaded Grampy to treat them to a ride on the carousel . Do you remember the days when that was a joy? Something as simple as sitting astride a carousel horse and going round in circles for 5 minutes !!

Cooper's potty training is turning out to be a little hit and miss so we did find ourselves in the middle of the town square with him sitting on his portable potty ( the boy has no shame !)

Today, its blood tests and groceries and a craft room tidy.

Our young friends new-born still has no name over 36 hours after his arrival ( something I find quite strange as I KNEW what my first daughter was to be called and our seconds name came to us as soon as we saw her ) .

Anyway, here's hoping each of you finds a little sunshine in your life today xx

I hope today is better for you Maw , sounds like the fluids are the key at the moment . I ? encourage ? drinks every time I pass in front of OH s chair , and get the odd bawling out for my pains

Don't want to teach my GM to suck eggs Maw but have you tried a bendy straw? He can manage that lying down.I hope you feel you can at least see the corner even if turning it still seems a way off yet.
Good luck with the carers. They will be a godsend for the present.

Maw It seems that Paw may be settling down a little, I hope so for your sake, it is very draining to be on constant 'alert'.

downsized I'm sorry that your middle dd has decided to return to USA, I know how much you'll miss Bella. I would be heartbroken if my not so little dgd moved away. Definitely more cruising with Galen!

Update on Anlon. He seems to be responding to the low fat meals (no sticks included) and has only been sick twice this week - which is an improvement.

We all seem to have our troubles again, sorry Soop we do weep on your shoulder a lot.

Tizliz who is Anlon's friend? He is a bit fuzzy in the photo. Anlon looks healthy and happy there but so pleased to hear that although he is still being sick it is not as frequent as before.

Charleygirl that is Harvey, he was moving to make a grap for his stick back - Anlon has two. They are both Belgian Shepherds. Harvey is nearly 11 which is quite a good age for this type of dog but he has bad arthritis and is finding 30 minutes walk a bit much, he prefers a play in the garden but that is not possible on the days I work. If we walk to far he just stops and waits until we get the hint and come back!

So glad Anlon is on the mend!
Hattie went for her jabs and a mani-pedi yesterday plus a lot of fussing from the nurses and receptionists (and a few treats!) She behaved impeccably, but getting int the car is not her favourite task.
I am actually having a breather (lunch + Radio 4) paw has had a wash from the lunchtime Carer, fresh pj's and undersheet and lunch and is now sitting out in his chair with a cup of camomile tea and is reading.
The Physio is due soon and then paw can go back to bed for a post prandial nap. Proper hydration has made a difference and although he is still exhausted, he is very much less confused than yesterday. I was seriously afraid he would end up back in hospital and I know how much he didn't want that.
It's really busy with Carers, physios, district nurse, deliveries of shower chair, perching stool etc plus a return visit from the paramedic - I am exhausted too!
Just need to get some order out of the chaos so that it feels like our house again.
Hattie is becoming very tolerant of all the new people, it must be very good for socialisation.
But puppies/adolescents....
I had put a pile of washing beside the washing machine ready for the next load and then I wondered why paw's pj's were in the middle of the lawn

Thought that was paw making an escape bid!

Last year my 2 perching stools were my salvation! Hope they are for you

Maw you made me smile with the pj description, good you have your humour to see you through. Sounds as if hydration is working for paw8 reading eh? Got to be good. Any chance of a hand from anywhere for a proper rest? At least hope you get a full night of sleep. Hattie is having a baptism by fire, but as you say good for the socialisation and she sounds to be coping well, I suspect she has a few more visitors to greet yet.

Phew, relief about Anlon Tizliz, seems to be a lot of animals struggling at the moment.

Know what you mean about baby names N&G, we were totally certain with baby number one, not so sure with baby number two until we saw him and then knew we had chosen the right name, shame he shortens his first name and hates his middle name and refuses to acknowledge it . Oh yes, been there with the potty in public, think its boys, girls seem easier somehow, or they do at that stage.

That sounds hard downsized, guess you will put on a brave face with them but I can imgine how sad you are really. Puts my worries about two of ours potentially going 5 hours away to shame.

Its flipping freezing here today, or is for normal people, Mr C maintains it isn't cold, definitely a gender divide.

Tizliz I'm thankful to hear that dear Anlon is slowly but surely recovering. Dear me...pets do give 'us lot' a very hard time when they become poorly.

Not as hard a time as Maw is having right now with Paw . I've no advice, I'm afraid. I haven't experienced the likes of what you are dealing with and I feel very sad for you both.
Our pal in the village has an 80 year old mother who came to live with her about six weeks ago. Mother is in hospital. She keeps having "funny turns" and falls over a lot, sleeps on the floor, gets terribly confused and about two weeks ago was admitted and put into the end of life suite. Well, she's rallied (for the umpteenth time) and is shouting to go home again. I know how exhausted my pal is. I'm thinking that you are feeling so much worse. If ONLY 'us lot' could do something useful. All we can do is listen. You've had good advice from a few Granspals.
Please may Paw begin to recover. My good wishes to you both.

A phone call from our granddaughter, Kirsty, came just a few minutes ago. She is pregnant and expects her baby six weeks after her sister, Lauren. We're thrilled. Great grandparents twice over by February 2018.

That's wonderful news soop Kirsty and Lauren look delightful girls, and so alike.
