HAD!!!

annsixty Fri 22-Sept-17 09:20:36

Maw I am so sorry for all your problems, I can very seldom weep, but it's been a very bad day when I do.???

NanaandGrampy Fri 22-Sept-17 09:23:18

Morning all !

Best nights sleep in a month !! Not great but so much better. I totally understand when you talk about how tiredness is so debilitating Maw . I can tackle the world when I am well rested, deprive me of my beloved zzzz's and I'm a bear with a sore head !!

First off, Happy Birthday Charley !!! I hope more wine is available soon so you can toast another year well done - and one when you had all your Building trials too !! I Hope you plan on spoiling yourself !!!

Safe travels Soop , I know you will have a wonderful time and I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of the gathering and young Torben.

Maw I am sending you a large hug and several glasses of wine . I feel for you . and Paw. That is not an early morning chore you want to add to your list. I hope this was just an early morning fog for Paw and nothing worse. You have had such a lot to cope with lately .

Hope Macs and Rory are both feeling just a touch better this morning !!

I actually think I might get dressed today. How can a damn chest infection lay you so low I wonder. I am hopefully on the mend though so that is all to the good. In fact I feel some crafting coming on.

For those of you with granddaughters you will no doubt be aware of the current fad in small girls for overlarge hair bows? They are excruciatingly expensive so nana to the rescue!! This is my first attempt. Shall I make us all matching GN bows :-)

MawBroon Fri 22-Sept-17 09:29:35

Charleygirl
Very Happy Birthday! ??????? to you.
Just hoping Tara has not brought you a little ? present too!!!

Galen Fri 22-Sept-17 10:16:06

And from me.

Swanny Fri 22-Sept-17 11:12:13

Happy Birthday Charleygirl !! Hope you have a lovely day with plenty of cupcake , sunshine and wine

Charleygirl Fri 22-Sept-17 11:16:25

Thank you all for the birthday wishes- I am going out for lunch on Sunday but no wine because I never drink and drive.

I am 74 today but after this year of non building I feel more like 104!

Maw Tara stopped bringing home presents mid last year. I have no idea why because when the mood takes her she can run like a greyhound. The minx did not want me lying in bed much beyond 8am so started to scratch the floor again. She is a minx.

Are you home again Galen or is it still life on the ocean wave? I am envious although ships and myself do not gel.

Swanny Fri 22-Sept-17 11:27:21

Maw what a distressing time you're going through at the moment sad Wish I could help in some practical way but I'm always willing to listen, as are we all in this kitchen, so keep expressing your frustration here. You have so much virtual support winging your way that I'm sure you must be able to feel it in the real world smile

I'm not sending flowers this time as they just give you another list of jobs to do - finding a suitable vase, trimming, putting in water, placing in a light spot but not in direct sunshine etcetera etcetera etcetera ... (With apologies to The King and I)

PS I love the alternative book titles too but didn't it say somewhere recently we shouldn't discuss other threads in here? [tongue in cheek icon required]

Charleygirl Fri 22-Sept-17 11:42:44

Thank you Swanny please be careful or you will go the same way as Jings, never to be heard of again. We are obviously being watched.

cornergran Fri 22-Sept-17 11:46:35

Happy birthday charley, hope there will be something yummy to eat today and a bottle glass or two this evening to make up for abstinence at your lunch on Sunday. Why oh why would you consider washing heavy curtains on your birthday? Off with you and find something pleasant to do. 74 is no age, Mr C is also 74 and says he feels so much younger. At a mere 69 I feel so much older. Hmm, must be the good care he gets grin.

I don't know what to say to make things better maw other than could someone, anyone, persuade paw that he makes your life harder rather than easier by not using has call button? My only other thought is seriously off the wall and may be totally inappropriate but would one of those baby alarms help? That way you might hear him get up and retrieve the situation before it got so messy. Littlest has one with a camera which might bee too intrusive but it sure helps us avoid too many dashes upstairs to investigate strange noises. Above all I hope paw mends and you can get some unworried sleep. Love to you both. Fingers are crossed for your daughter, yes, get laughs where you can. I announced a couple of months back that my worry space was full, no room for any more, suspect you are at that point too.

Pleased you feel a little better n&g, dont overdo it though. Love the bow, agree they are usually extortionately priced. If we're all having them please, please can mine be green? Not sure I have enough hair for one but I do like green. grin.

Just for once we have sunshine and I have no laundry to do, never thought I would be disappointed to see an empty laundry basket smile

Take care all, especially poorly people and those caring for them.

Crafting Fri 22-Sept-17 12:18:28

maw I hate washing and ironing but your post had me wishing we (kitcheners) could help with your problems at the moment, you must be exhausted. As you say, with paw being only 70 it does seem you both have a lot to cope with both physically and mentally. Just want to give you (and paw) a hug and hope that life improves for you both soon ?

Charleygirl Fri 22-Sept-17 12:19:26

corner thank you so much. Not a lot going on here, I cannot be bothered washing the curtains you will be pleased to here.

The meal tonight is yesterday's spag bol as I always cook for two days. I have enough wine left over to fill a glass so I will be fine.

I am very much on my own so I may go out and treat myself to a cup of coffee later. The sun is shining here but I do not feel it to be warm.

Luckily I have had no adverse effects from my flu jab.

I am taking Tara to the vet tomorrow for her annual MOT-that should be delightful, keep your windows closed. She will either be howling like a banshee or lying in the metal cage with her back to me, silent. At least it is an early appointment at 9.30am and we will be home fairly soon as the surgery is just over a couple of miles away but on a very busy road.

MawBroon Fri 22-Sept-17 12:29:44

Thank you all for support!
Not downhearted , just not good first thing if I haven't had enough sleep. I DO have a baby alarm in fact but rely on the call button which truly makes enough noise to wake the dead. I think paw was just half asleep as he had no idea why he didn't use the call button (he had used it 3 hours previously- see what I mean about sleep ) grin
Spoken to littlest DD3, despite having to be at UCLH by 7, she found out when she got there that she is LAST on the list so has to wait until 3. sad

Greyduster Fri 22-Sept-17 12:41:35

Happy birthday, Charley, you spring chicken! ? I had a lot of sympathy with your building problems - I now have a lot more.

Charleygirl Fri 22-Sept-17 12:54:04

I have lived in this mess since mid February and cannot any longer so the first person to come next week to give a quote will be a carpenter as I can no longer live with no door handles and partial kitchen trims. Slowly I will get it done. The God awful tiling may take a bit longer because I am certain that it will have to be stripped off and started again.

The builder is under the impression that I have "all of my life ahead" but I am not 49 like him so there is a minor difference.

Bellanonna Fri 22-Sept-17 13:13:15

Happy birthday Charley. You miss being my birth sign (Libra) by a day. I'm at the end of this month. Enjoy the spagbol and some nice wine!

Bellanonna Fri 22-Sept-17 13:20:05

Maw it's often a battle with the GP denying a possible diagnosis and opting for one that's simpler to deal with. Ours does this a lot. Thank goodness my DH, like paw, has lots of other input. Thank goodness, too, that we can fight their corner, but it's wearing. Poor you, in particular, having to get up several times at night. Honestly don't know how you do it, but I appreciate you just have to. Hugs, etc...

aggie Fri 22-Sept-17 13:27:38

Oh Maw I can sympathise with the trials and tribulations xxxxx
Has no one offered /suggested a hospital bed ? OH finds it comfortable and I find it easier to change . I used a baby alarm , but am so tuned on I can be awake in seconds if he dares to move wink

Crafting Fri 22-Sept-17 13:32:33

charley sorry I forgot to wish you happy birthday. ????. Hope you have a good day. I like spag Bol. Got any left over left overs? grin

Charleygirl Fri 22-Sept-17 15:36:39

The spag bol was not supposed to be a birthday meal, being Scottish I am trying not to waste food at present! Being Virgo I am perfect!

Bellanonna Having missed the Virgo sign by one day, you have obviously missed out on perfection, being a good organiser and heaven knows what else. I am basking in all that glory-I do not think that modesty came into it!!!

I hope that you enjoy your day tomorrow.

Greyduster Fri 22-Sept-17 16:09:08

Charley - my DH is a Virgo. He must have been at the back of the queue when the perfect stuff was being dished out! grin.

NanaandGrampy Fri 22-Sept-17 16:18:51

oooh me me !!! I'm a Virgo too ! Practically perfect in every way :-)

Charleygirl Fri 22-Sept-17 16:37:44

N&G we cannot help being perfect, can we?

Greyd are you sure your DH was at the back of the queue? Have you had a good look at yourself because if he is a Virgoan of course he is perfect he could not be anything else! Poor maligned fellow, he has my sympathies.

Seriously, I hope that MacSporran is okay after his trip to the GP surgery and that Rory is looking forward to his evening meal having been such a goooood boy since soop left.

Maw have you made arrangements at your local pharmacy to have your flu injection? How is Hattie these days- has she been disturbed or like most animals, sleeps through it all?

MawBroon Fri 22-Sept-17 17:07:59

aggie what would I do with our super duper nearly new Hypnos king size bed if Paw had a hospital one?
(The suggestion was in fact mooted, but politely rejected.)
I know it is kindly meant but I refuse to turn our house into something that looks like a nursing home smile

Juliette Fri 22-Sept-17 17:21:05

Happy Birthday Charleygirl from yet another Virgo and Reg the lodger dog.
