What's the first thing you do? (Particularly the "nicely" endowed)

Very occasionally I'll have a nice cooked breakfast, sometimes go out for it, sometimes cook it.

So this morning I decide I shall cook a nice Sunday breakfast, it was lovely.

So here's the question - you have a cooked breakfast consisting of the normal things, eggs (any way you like them) bacon, sausages, black pudding, mushrooms, toast or fried bread, baked beans, tomatoes. Any combination of those but your plate MUST have baked beans and/or tomatoes on it.

You sit down to eat it and what's the first thing that you do?

(Just wanting to see if it's just me wink)

Say Thank you this looks lovely

I burst the yolk of the egg. Every time

First prize to Maria! And it's always either beans or tomatoes.

(The clue was in the title).

Eat the egg while it’s still runny, despite the inherent danger to my silk PJs.
My grilled tomatoes rarely drip.

As I am not "nicely endowed" the beans/tomatoes would drop straight onto my lap.grin

Give the dogs a piece of sausage.

pably15 Mon 10-Nov-25 00:01:54

couldn't have that for breakfast

I am far from ‘endowed’, but manage to get egg yolk, toast crumbs, fried tomatos etc on my pyjama top. I only get into my day clothes after a late breakfast - bliss !.

I can't stand baked beans!! First thing I'd do would be to remove them or transfer the other items to a clean plate. Back bacon, eggs and sausage for me. Oh and mushrooms too of course. I'd start with the bacon.

What’s “nice” about being what I think is more usually referred to as “well-endowed” ?

Wyllow3 Mon 10-Nov-25 07:40:42

Not at all well endowed but I would almost certainly end up with something down my front with that lot!

It turns my stomach to think of the "Full English" so little danger. At a hotel recently I managed scrambled eggs on toast however. That was quite nice and reminded me a decent start to the day energy wise was a perhaps a good idea.

The day has to start with a nice big latte in a huge mug.

I don’t eat several of the breakfast items you mention ferry but fried eggs and tomatoes with toast is glorious! And yes, egg yolk would find its merry way onto my frontage if I didn’t cover up.😄

I can't abide black pudding and am unable to touch any type of bread, including such as pizza, wraps, etc., because of gut issues, and I never cook, have never owned a frying pan or anything, wouldn't know where to begin! So I only ever eat out.

I dive straight into the baked beans first, then fried eggs, mushrooms - depending on where I'm eating, as some places they are absolutely awful and sickening - but the ones I go to with lovely mushrooms, they're the third. Then there are hash browns, 5th are tomatos - as of with the mushrooms - then the bacon and dausages!

Esmay Mon 10-Nov-25 10:26:18

Yummy except for baked beans-I'd have tio remove them .
I can't even stand the smell of them.
I often have this type of breakfast at my friend's cafe .
I'd dip the bread into the fried egg .

ExDancer Mon 10-Nov-25 10:36:00

The traditional Full English (Scots, Irish or Welsh) doesn't have beans or tomatoes on it. Not saying they shouldn't be there if you like them, but when the 'most important meal of the day' evolved we didn't have access to those ingredients.
So I'd burst the egg and dip toast or fried bread in it.

I’m not a breakfast person, only want coffee and a slice of toast so I’d probably bin it or give it to the birds. 🦅

Neither does a proper Full English have the ubiquitous hash browns.

Finding a menu with fried bread these days is virtually impossible ☹️

(Any suggestions for suitable London based caffs appreciated!)

The only time I wasn't put off faced with a breakfast like that was when the baked beans were served in a ramekin so hadn't touched the rest of the food.
I'd hoped the tomatoes were grilled, not sloppy tinned ones.

What would be the first thing I'd do? Pass the black pudding and fried bread to DH or anyone nearby! 😁

David49 Mon 10-Nov-25 11:13:25

I cook breakfast on a Sunday scrambled not fried egg, tomatoes not beans, plus mushrooms, first fork full sausage and tomato.

dalrymple23 Mon 10-Nov-25 15:54:43

I have never understood the concept of "full English" - especially with baked beans which are (a) American and (b) abominable! Obviously something lacking in my upbringing!

I eat onehanded as I’m disabled. It can get messy so it’s something I do automatically smile
