Hello , a new thread, welcome all x

I have been off line since this morning , and land line down !

ChrissyR Thu 17-Sept-20 17:59:37

I waited all day for a call and nothing so I called again and the receptionist didn’t know why I hadn’t had a call, she said she would try to sort it and I finally got a call from a GP at 5.30. They looked at the photo and said that it didn’t look like anything nasty. He asked me lots of questions like does it bleed, is it sore or is it itchy, I said no. He asked me to send another picture in 6-8 weeks with a coin next to it to compare the size. I was so relieved I can’t tell you. But 10 minutes later I realised that I didn’t tell him that it was painful when I walked but stopped hurting when I sat down. Hubby said don’t start worrying about that now, I’m having pain in both legs which they think is probably pressure on the sciatic nerve so it’s more likely to be that. They’ve done a prescription for codeine for me. So now I’m having a cuppa and trying to relax. Thank you all for your wise words, I felt like someone was there for me who understood. I’ll reply to everyone’s posts later when I’ve calmed down x thanks

Hello Annie Bless you there’s always something for us to have to deal with.. Do hope you feel better soon.?

Doodle my first smile in a few day, don’t know why but it tickled me ( woman in a sachet that you mix in a small glass of water) hope you are ok today...

Nonnie how has your day been..?

Chrissy have you heard from your GP today hope you are ok...

Scaredycat how are you have a big ? back.

Bluesky how you are ok today.

Stay strong everyone.. ?

BlueSky Thu 17-Sept-20 18:26:23

Doodle has your husband been diagnosed with anything, reflux, gastritis, ulcer etc? I'm puzzled because most of the time I'm fine, not even a Rennie, then perhaps a couple of times a year I have these annoying stomach symptoms, I even feel unwell so in the past I've put it down to a virus then it eventually clears, whether I take anything for it or not! confused

Puzzled Thu 17-Sept-20 18:32:14

Roll on when we can hug, legally!

The older, myself include are more at risk.
Don't be too frightened by the government figures.
If you analyse them the actual percentage are very small.
The actual daily infections (using a test which is known to produce false positives) represent about one and a quarter percent of the tests carried out. (About 3,500 in 205,000 per day, according to the BBC)
Enormously sad as they are, the total deaths so far represent less than one tenth of a percent of the population.
(42,000 in round figures in 67,000,000)

We need physical contact.
If you are feeling down just remember Captain Tom.
"Tomorrow will be a good day"
You can still get a drink out of a half empty glass!

lucyanne Thu 17-Sept-20 20:00:14

Hello Annie, so sorry to hear about the bowel problems. I hope the laxative helps. Going to be painful on your first toilet visit. Take care lovely. x

In coma yesterday. Ambulance called by carer after 9 hrs. Refused hospital. Follow up Dr was requested my key box no. given. Arrived at 2.32 am. This morning a 2nd Dr. Got a chest infection and problems swallowing so on thickened fluids. Hosp app Mon.
My fear hospitals!

Tired tonight. Sleep well all pray for a better day for you all tomorrow.

Joce345 Thu 17-Sept-20 20:02:25

Puzzler how right. We do need physical contact so much.
Well said Captain Tom, (Tomorrow will be a good day..)

Annie hope you are feeling better tonight x

Joce345 Thu 17-Sept-20 20:05:40

Lucyanne sorry you are not well. Hope you get better soon.
Hope you get a good night sleep.. take care hug for you. ?

ChrissyR Thu 17-Sept-20 20:12:44

Scaredycat Thank you for your kind words. I try my hardest to not go into full panic mode but it very rarely works. My hopes are on the acupuncture starting next month. I’m sorry to hear that you have tinnitus, it’s good it doesn’t interfere with your sleep. And AFib as well, you do have a lot to deal with and yet you still do what you can to support others.
BlueSky Yep that’s me, always expecting the worst case scenario. I think I’ve inadvertently taught myself that, thinking that if I think of the worst case scenario then whatever happens can’t be as bad. I’m pleased to hear that you’re feeling better.
Thank you Nonnie You’re absolutely right that it works both ways whether we need support or we’re in a good enough place to support others. I hope you managed to get out for your walk today. I understand what you’re feeling about not having things to look forward to. I get like that, we would have been on holiday now and I always look forward to holidays so I am a bit fed up. I think all we can do is hope that a vaccine isn’t too far away.
Annie One of my meds is terrible for constipation. Like Doodle’s DH, my GP prescribed Movicol sachets and they’re brilliant, I’m taking one every other day now. I hope that somehow you get it sorted, it’s pretty miserable I know. I understand you feeling apprehensive about possible further lockdowns. You do have a lot to deal with but, like Scaredycat, you still do your best to support others.
Doodle I’m so happy to be one of you, I truly mean that. I’m sorry to hear about your tinnitus, my Dad used to suffer badly with it, drove him mad at times.
Joce Yes GP called. As always I got myself in a state over nothing.
Puzzled I must admit that I see how many new cases there are and feel very sad. I don’t even think about what percentage of the population it represents.

ChrissyR Thu 17-Sept-20 20:16:42

lucyanne I’m sorry that you’ve been so unwell. I hope you have a good sleep tonight. Take care x

lavenderzen Thu 17-Sept-20 20:24:51

Just calling in to wish everyone a peaceful evening and a good night's sleep.

I have only just caught up with your post Annie, I am so sorry you are unwell, I hope the medication helps. To try and get some sense out of anyone in the medical profession these days is a real trial. I hope you are alright. I know you are also worrying about your beloved granddaughter's start at university. Thinking of you and sending love and hugs xx

God bless everyone Joyce, Nonnie, Doodle, ChrissyR, Scardeycat, Bluesky and all those I may have missed out.

Take care, stay safe, love to all xx

Doodle Thu 17-Sept-20 20:49:09

Annie my SIL had laxido when she came out of hospital. I think it’s the same sort of thing as Movicol.
Hope your symptoms improve soon.
My dear mum never took painkillers either. She too had bad stomach problems
DH has diverticulosis and something like irritable leg syndrome except in his case it’s a whole body thing. He only seems to get it at night and he just has to get up and walk until the feeling goes away. This happens about 3 or 4 times a week, his sleep is very interrupted which is why he’s so tired all the time.
Chrissy so glad the GP finally phoned you and all is well. Hope you can relax a bit tonight. Codeine is a good pain killer but will make you constipated so make sure you drink enough fluids.
Joce glad I made you laugh. Hope you are feeling a bit brighter.
Bluesky apart from the diverticulosis they can’t seem to find any particular reason for DHs night time irritation. He’s been like this for years. We are trying a very bland diet for a while to see if that helps.
Puzzled thank you for your positive post. Yes hugs are good. Hope you keep well.
Lucyanne that must have been a shock for you. Do you suffer bouts like this often? Try not to worry about Monday. You need to relax. Hope you have a much better night and the chest inflection improves quickly.
Lavender you are so lovely to pop in every night and wish us well. ?. I hope you are ok too.
Scaredycat no AF for two days. That’s good. Hope it stays that way.
Nonnie how are getting on.
Try and keep your spirits up everyone. Very much hoping the lockdowns don’t come near you or your DGD Annie.
Sleep well and peaceful dreams to you all.x

BlueSky Thu 17-Sept-20 21:22:14

Good night all x brew

Joce345 Thu 17-Sept-20 21:35:04

Wish everyone a peaceful night, sleep well. ?

Joce345 Fri 18-Sept-20 09:51:14

Morning all
Annie how are you today? hope you are feeling better.X

Hope everyone has a good day today..

Nonnie Fri 18-Sept-20 09:55:05

Oh annie what a thing to have to deal with on top of everything else. Laxido had a dramatic effect one me so take care. Could you ask the pharmacist to give you your meds in non-adult proof containers?

Doodle do you read a real book at night? Apparently we should turn all our devices off an hour before bed because of the blue light.

Thanks Scardycat yes, my walk was good. I take the scenic route rather than the direct one and simply enjoy looking around. I timed it at 1/2 hour of brisk walking then mooched around in town. Didn't buy much, just picked up the new phone and bought some bits and pieces. Plan to set up the phone this morning. So good to hear you got some time off from AF.

Chrissey are you able to put that one on 'the back burner' for a while?

Joce thanks, not a bad day, so that is good, see above.

BlueSky I suspect we all get the occasional gastric issue which we don't understand, I do.

Puzzled glad you can still feel positive about the pandemic, I am losing the will to do that. It is not the numbers with me but the thought that I might do something to cause another person to be ill which haunts me.

lucyanne please keep safe, that sounds horrible. Wish you could overcome the fear of hospitals. Please check in when you can so we know how you are. I am praying for you by name in additions to the BDG as a whole.

Doodle I have diverticulosis and do the opposite of a bland diet which works for me. My diet is mostly plant based, no bread, small amounts of meat but not every day and omega seed mix.

I've been reading up on whether lactose affects joints, some say it does so it is possible the oat milk is having an effect on DH's knees. I like it so we are both now drinking it instead of our bedtime milk.

Feeling average today so that must be a positive. Going to cut DH's hair which could be amusing. grin

BlueSky Fri 18-Sept-20 10:06:54

Morning all I too feel average today which is good. Off to the surgery for blood tests which hopefully won't show anything alarming, I'm already thinking about glucose, cholesterol, kidney function, etc etc and maybe some new out of range. Also the alarming news about Covid you just lose the will don't you? Hope you'll all manage a good or average day xcafe

Anniebach Fri 18-Sept-20 11:19:37

Hi all x

I am ok, nonnie a dramatic effect ? definitely, waiting to speak to GP, hopefully for a gentler medication !

BlueSky thinking of you x

ChrissyR Fri 18-Sept-20 11:35:25

Morning everyone.
Doodle managed to get a better sleep last night as the anxiety had diminished. Thanks for the warning about Codeine. I’m already taking Movicol because one of my other meds makes me constipated so I’ll have to remember to drink more.
Nonnie I’m glad you got out for your walk yesterday.
I’m hoping to be able to put it on the back burner but I’m already thinking of things that I should have told the doctor who phoned. I feel relieved when I get some reassurance, then I start thinking and then I get angry with myself for letting myself get in a state again. It’s so frustrating, I’m pinning my hope on the acupuncture. Hope your DH’s hair turns out ok wink
BlueSky You sound like me with the apprehension over blood tests, hope they all come back fine. My cholesterol was very high but the statins have halved it.
Hope everyone else is doing ok xx

Doodle Fri 18-Sept-20 14:23:10

Nonnie I used to read “real” books as I far prefer them but as the library is closed I am using the library app Libby. You are quite right of course, we should turn our devices off long before bedtime but I get bored then ?
Glad you enjoyed your walk. Thanks for the info on the oat milk. Good luck with the hair cut.
Glad you are a bit better today Bluesky. Try not to worry about the things we can’t control.
Annie poor you. Hope you get something better. Movicol which DH and I take is far more gentle, hope the GP comes up with a better option.
Chrissy glad you had a better night. I am a bit like you. Get one worry sorted and then go looking for another one. I am trying to stop myself doing that now and when something is sorted just stop. Hope you have a good day.

Jan16 Fri 18-Sept-20 18:05:16

Hi. Has anyone tried online CBT and if so was it successful?

Anniebach Fri 18-Sept-20 18:18:38

Hi Jan I cannot recall anyone saying they had tried online
CBT,

I remember one poster saying she had tried EFT therapy online and she found it helped her

Jan16 Fri 18-Sept-20 20:05:42

Ok thanks Annie. GP wants me to try it

BlueSky Fri 18-Sept-20 20:15:30

Good night all x brew

lavenderzen Fri 18-Sept-20 20:49:47

Good night and god bless. Hope everyone struggling is feeling better. Take care, stay safe and lots of love to you all xx

Doodle Fri 18-Sept-20 21:07:14

Jan I think the online CBT would be worth a try. I’ve read some good reports. If you do it, please come back and let us know how you get on. Hope it helps you.
lavender Bluesky Annie hope you all sleep well and all the BDG. x
