My eldest daughter needed emergency brain surgery yesterday for an anuerysm. My nephew her first cousin died of the same thing in April this year at the same age as her. I have spent all night awake we are going to the hospital early this morning. I am asking for any and all advice from grandmothers who may have had experience in this area. My head is full of all kinds of stuff. I can't seem to calm down and think straight it's just not like me. I was a nurse so have a fair bit of knowledge clinically but I very muddled on anything else. Any support very welcome. Thankyou.

Also sending best wishes, and a positive experience, this one of my ex-husband, who had the same operation over 20 years ago, and is still going strong (although left deaf in one ear) now.

I know 2 people with an aneurysm on the brain - one, my 80 year old sister-in- law, who has decided to leave it well alone. Gets occasional headache. The other is a little boy, who had a bleed on the brain, had an operation and is now back in school . His speech has been slightly affected, but the prognosis is good.
Lots of hugs for your daughter and for you and all the family.
She is in the right place. Think positive thoughts - and I am sending you positive thoughts too. I do feel for you. What a worry flowers

Hoping for very best outcome for your daughter BigBertha. A friend had surgery for a brain aneurysm and recovered completely, going on to do a PG degree. Good luck and look after yourself.

A friends husband experienced this several years ago. He made a full recovery and is still well but it’s very frightening at the time. Sending you good wishes

Thank you all for you kind wishes. Victoria is out of ITU now after having extensive brain surgery but we are told doing well, that's all they will say. She is speaking and can move all her limbs so that's encouraging. as you have all said its about recovery now and I know she will be impatient!! Sadly my nephew died earlier this year with the same thing he was one year older so the family are now asking all sorts of questions that I cannot answer. The next few days may tell us more. Thank you especially for all the prayers that will mean so much to Victoria. xx
