Welcome. This thread is in support of those who wish to share their mental health problems as they affect their daily lives, share aspects of our lives supportively and give and take support. And is a continuation of Black Dog 30
.
It’s been going for some time, so this is a jump in at the deep end.
All are welcome- don’t be put off by some of us being here long term - people come and go, or regularly post. So sometimes it might seem just like everyday chats, but there is a basis of Mental Health difficulties in self or loved ones tha runs through it.

Scaredycat Your friend's family must have been pleased to see you and your husband, when you'd been friends with him and his dear wife for such a long time. So sad about his wife having dementia and her not realising what was happening (just as well, really). You have some very wise words for us all when you say we should make the most of life.

Wyllow3 I'll miss LG so much when she goes to school next September! I hope we'll be able to pick her up some days. Son1 went to nursery in the afternoons when he was 4 (it was attached to the school, but of course children didn't start until they were 5 then). One day, he decided to get the guinea pig from the hutch and bath itgrin. You're having a dressing gown day. That's alright, and sometimes needed.

I'm home alone as DH is out with Son1 (and his stepson). I should've made the effort and gone out, but couldn't be bothered. I feel quite sad today, but that's probably due to a lack of sleep. Hope everyone is ok x

Sweetpeasue Sat 17-Oct-26 17:08:06

Purplepixie It was nice to see you in again. I think crafting does help at times to distract from worries and depression and I know you do beautiful work.
HVDY Grandson has another week at school then holidays. Not sure what he will be doing as dont really communicate with his mam. We saw him yesterday with SGD - they get on so well ( mostly LOL) Aw LG is delightful isnt she - so polite and well mannered- you must be so proud of her.
Scaredycat Whst lovely words to us all as always. I do agree with your words to Wyllow - time is so short isnt it. Your walk sounded lovely. I think when the sun shines its beautiful at this time of year with the trees changing colour. Glad the funeral went as well as it could in the circumstances- its all so very sad for his wife though in another way she may be spared the full grief in her condition.
Doodle Im sorry for your very sad day- loneliness is such a horrible feeling and its hard for you especially when the one you love is not there. Hope you're feeling better tummy wise. Yes, Ill certainly ring 111 if I need to , thanks.
EllieAnne How is your husband doing now?
Im sorry about your DD not replying to your texts. Im sure that must be quite hurtful when you would appreciate some contact from your family right now. Perhaps shes been in touch since you posted - I hope so.
Nadateturbe I hope today hasn't been too bad for you painwise. You are always thought about here.

Son 2 came round today to help with the ballcock thingy - here 2 hrs as the leak/drip took a long time ,despite them buying another one. DH is very tired now. Son2 invited us for chicken dinner last night. We were so tired and down but we went and it was nice to see the DGS and Step DGD. Meal was lovely.
Secretary rang DH and said Vascular consultant wanted the GPs letter about him having chest pain and the Doppler results on legs as soon as possible so he can fix earlier appt. We really must see a Dr on Monday- anyone!- to write that letter ( last one hadnt been received when written nearly 2 mths ago) and to find out why the ultrasound was rejected ,though I expect it wouldnt have been if they had the results of the Doppler.

Sending love to all. X

Sweetpeasue Sat 17-Oct-26 17:17:42

Oh dear-- re- reading Ive realised Ive missed * Wyllow* apologies Wyllow.
Youve had a lot going on with the Quakers and I hope it all gets sorted after your latest email. You must be fed up with it all.
So glad you have A to turn to. What a long walk- you well and truly earned that slice of cake!
HVDY Just seen your latest message. It must feel like your a spare part at times when the men go out together. I certainly did today when DH and son were fixing loft leak. I was assigned tea -duty. LG has grown so fast hasn't she. Im sure when she goes to school she will need you just as much and she'll have so much to tell you about her days there. You will always be needed. Its really awful to not be able to sleep - is it the bladder problems? Hope Jaffa is good tomorrow morning and doesnt wake you too early.

Doodle Sat 17-Oct-26 21:39:28

Scaredycat what an emotional time for you having the funeral of your dear friend. Very poignant having his wife there too.
Thank you I am feeling better and enjoyed a nice day with a friend today. Our local park is a centre for families meeting and in the warmer weather having picnics.
Wyllow no not a curry. I don’t think there was anything wrong with the food just that it was too spicy for my stomach. It was lemon and something chicken.
Good email and good response from you. Very clear.
Glad A is opening up to you.
HVdY LG sounds delightful. Pleasure to take her out when she behaves so well, Sorry you feel sad too. I wonder if it’s winter coming on, although I also felt sad when we went from winter to summer.
Sweetpeasue good news about the vascular secretary phoning. Ask for a copy of the letter yourself that way you’ll know it’s been done and can see what is said. Hope an early appointment becomes available for your Dh
Had a nice day out with friend. Bought a pair of boots in the sale they are ‘pretty boots’ for wearing with long dresses. Not hard wearing winter boots.

Wyllow3 Sun 18-Oct-26 00:04:29

That was a good bit of news, Sweetpeasue, seems like it could be soon - but yes, as ever you are having to be pro-active in joining the dots and pushing for the letter...which, given a consultant has asked for it, should be triaged...crossing fingers and toes for an early appointment.

I'm glad you went for that Chicken Dinner. Worth the effort in the end for the family side. I'd out my feet up while the blokes get in with DIY on the basis we do other Very Important Bits.

I am glad today was a little better, Doodle. Well, the lemon chicken tum is a mystery, it sounds pretty harmless. what did you do with your friend today?

I had an afternoon sleep....chatted a lot on WhatsApp, catching up...did some printing out of pictures to be framed (just a clip frame)....rung A, long phone call to DS 🤗 and caught up with all the family. And a 1 2 1 with 8 year old DGS who has changed from being bit petulant to a fantasy reader munching up books

The "Harry Potter equivalent" for 8 and up these days is called Skandar and...The unicorn thief, (then a series/and it's a fantasy world of baddies and goodies, with boy a strong boy/girl appeal.

The nicest bit was when I said well I will be seeing you when you come here soon, was he did a little happy jump in the air. 🙂

Well, I did have a wash, so I am not entirely unredeemable.

thinking of absent BD's and hoping you can pop in soon.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 18-Oct-26 09:20:30

SweetpeaSue Glad you had a nice meal and saw your son and his family. Lovely to get together. I hope you manage to see a GP on Monday, and it looks as though the consultant is going to look into things - but why couldn't he/his secretary have spoken to your surgery, I wonder? You're having to do the chasing up, but I hope your husband will get the help he needs soon.

Doodle LG is a joy to be with. Glad you saw a friend yesterday. Will you be going anywhere today? Not sure why I felt sad, but I have those days now and then, as we all do.

Wyllow3 You had a lot of chats yesterday, which was good. I love talking a lot. How lovely that your 8-year-old GS was so happy when you mentioned being able to see him soon.

The furry menace woke me at 5.45 - it's pitch black at that time, so I fed him and left him downstairs and went back to bed until 8.30. Might visit my brother later - or shall I go to B&M instead??? Hope everyone has a decent day. x

Hoping EllieAnneis ok.

Wyllow3 Sun 18-Oct-26 16:36:42

Well one side says I really ought to visit my brother and the other side says oh go and wander round B and M......which happened HVDY?

O woe is me. Set out on lovely walk round our park, sunshine, tress a rustling etc. A. very quiet. He'd forgotten a dopa med due quite soon after that,

Whatsup I said.

It turns out he wanted to talk about history, so as well as enjoying park and all the kids and the mini boats on the lake with the gents club controlling them

we revisited various times in history and the relationship between church and state.

Pr-occupied (when did Victoria come to the throne?*

I tripped due to a long coat and fell on my knees rather dramatically. Fortunately, apart from that, I sort of crumpled and rolled (thank you years of yoga and aikido practice falling and rolling)

There was only one cure for this:

Huge scones and a coffee.

Then I had to do a very big shop as out of everything, so thats a decent number of steps today.

What to watch on TV alert for Jack Reacher fans: on Prime there is a new filmed Jack Reacher, who of course does a a Robin Hood with the needy and a clever line with the CIA and a few Bifs and Fight routines to ward off baddies. Sheer escapism.

On the other hand had to send some stuff to Quaker Safeguarding and the good thing is that the lady in the nursing home who ordered me "Love Demands" wants to see me quickly so I think we can lay that to bed tomorrow by me saying, its in Safeguarding hands, not up to you and me.

Calling other BD's - how is your day? EllieAnne, what is afoot?

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 18-Oct-26 17:15:23

Wyllow3 In the end, I did neither. Stayed unwashed and in pyjamas until half an hour ago. My husband has gone all day without talking - he sees no need for it. Ah, well, he'll be on his own next Sunday as I've booked a coach trip.

I hope you didn't hurt yourself when you fell, although you're really rather agile. Scones and coffee sound just right. I've never seen Reacher, but it looks good. I watched Series 3 of "Time" - Co-written by Jimmy McGovern, so violence and language. Good, though.

Sweetpeasue Sun 18-Oct-26 18:54:39

Doodle Good idea to ask for copy of letter- just hope I get to see GP too and we can get F2F.
Your boots sound nice - I prefer boots than any shoes- more comfy.
HVDY It sometimes seems a waste getting dressed if not going out anywhere and no one is visiting. I was thinking of you as I passed B&M today.
Ooh you're having a trip next Sunday - are you going with a friend? Hope weather is nice . I fancied watching 'Time' but I cant cope with too much violence- wish they'd cut back on it a bit cos I like McGovern's stuff. Hope Jaffa isnt early riser tomorrow.
Wyllow Sounds like you had a lovely morning with A and very interesting chat. Its been a fairly good month weather-wise and its good to see people enjoying themselves in the park- children are so amusing to watch. Glad you didnt hurt yourself when you fell ,it must have been a bit of a shock though.
EllieAnne Hope you're OK.
Scaredycat Hope your day has been good.

Had a coffee out and visited aunt this afternoon. Her DGD was there and it was good to chat all together. It made for an easier visit. At one time she became suddenly confused and frightened asking where we all were - seemed to think we'd all been outside. Her GD was good and we managed to divert her from it . We stopped back a bit longer after GD left and she seemed fine when we waved goodbye.

Hoping tomorrow we get appt .
Sending love to all and those BDs not mentioned.x

Scaredycat Sun 18-Oct-26 19:14:07

Hi all
HVDY - yes you will miss LG when she starts school but as long as it’s near enough you,ll be able to meet her from school sometimes. We did that for years when DD went back to work and GD3 was still little. She used to bounce out of school full of news of her day- it was lovely. I,m sorry you feel sad perhaps it was the thoughts of LG. You,re right though sometimes sadness just creeps in uninvited.
PJ days are sometimes needed- especially when DH is being the strong silent type😀Where are you going for your coach trip?
SweetPeaSue- Well done DS2 for fixing the ballcock thingy- I suppose DH was the assistant.
Glad you took up your DS invite to dinner. It’s so good for you to get out and often once you’re there you get a second wind
Don’t you.
Yes Monday Dr is essential- also hope that you can get an earlier vascular Appt. How can they lose such an important letter?
Doodle- it has certainly been a very emotional time. We were so pleased that his wife was not upset or uncooperative on the day.Poor love she had no idea why we were there or what was happening.
Maybe it’s change that makes you sad. Having to adjust when you have had to undergo the biggest change in your life.
Glad you had a good day out - your boots sound great- picture please.
Wyllow- your Saturday sounded a good one . Family chats- your DGS will be easy to buy for this Xmas . Books and more books!!!!
I,d love to see your photos - I haven’t printed any of mine for ages.
So what you,re saying is that Queen Victoria is responsible for you coming a cropper! Hope your knee isn’t too sore.
Good thinking though by A - Giant scones are a good healing strategy.
Love to all those mentioned and those BDs past and present.

Doodle Sun 18-Oct-26 20:29:25

Evening all. Had a nice meal out with DS1 and family today. Went to church first. Much colder than I thought and heavy rain this afternoon.
Scaredycat very hard time for you at the funeral. Good his wife managed to attend. I find change from summer to winter hard and then winter to summer the same. I I’ll do a photo of my boots but I’m too lazy to do it tonight, they are very pretty.
Sweetpeasue it’s nice you’re still visiting your aunt. I expect it was easier having her DgD there too, I do hope you get that appointment you need.
HvDY Sorry you felt sad yesterday. I feel sad a lot of the time. Brings you down doesn’t it. Your Dh sounds very quiet. Is he more chatty when LG is around.? I watched the first series of time with Sean Bean and enjoyed it. I’ve heard from others that this series is good too.
Where are you going on your coach trip next week?
Wyllow glad you didn’t hurt yourself when you fell, scones are a good medicine for shock, I loved to read the Reacher books. Was very disappointed when they made a film with Tom Cruise. I like Tom Cruise but I’m sorry he is no way like the character in the books. The new one is much better.
Ellie Anne thinking of you

Wyllow3 Sun 18-Oct-26 21:14:53

Yes Sweetpeasue I do hope you get an appointment for tomorrow. Poor aunt - your GD did well....may be youth appeal....but it is an improvement from the past when you left.

Yes it was a shock and probably I'll wake stiff tomorrow, it got my back a bit, knee got scabs on and will bruise, but could be so much worse I feel glad...

I'll go to the gym and do the right sort of Stuff for a while - between the tricky coffee with Quaker L and the visit to F who isnt at all well body/mind well but clearly forgotten what she said to me last week, fine by me, I'll encourage our giggly bits and maybe give her a little massage feet or something. (they are very stiff from lack of use)

Yes Doodle Tom Cruise was not the right person. The actor on the Amazon Prime series is spot on (huge and convincing) I'm pretty sure you'd like the series, as would you HVDY.

It sounds like you needed that day in, HVDY. Listening to your body and mind just to have time out. I don't think "time" is for me..there is a lot of choice atm, best of all was imo BBC1 Marble Hall (there is a GN thread on it under TV)

I'm glad you had a nice meal with your family, Doodle. On a chilly day being together indoors is the best option, after church. I hope you are still all liking the vicar. Are the boots the nice Sketchers ones?

I hope you were taking it easy Scaredycat after a demanding few days. Now how about a Scotland photo?

there for you, Ellieanne and Nadateturbe.

the photo isnt a good one here as its just a screenshot from a WhatsApp chat, bu there is DGS showing me his "Skandar" book thats got him into reading big time. I was so pleased, it was all "devices" before, but mum reads a lot so maybe it was that.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 18-Oct-26 21:37:14

SweetpeaSue I banged the side of my calf on Friday evening at Son2's House, on a safety gate (4 in their place as it's a split level house). It's bruised and has a lump. I'm going to The Cotswolds for the day. I haven't told him yet. I bet your aunt enjoyed seeing you. Does she still recognise you? Best of luck getting an appointment tomorrow.

ScaredyCat I don't know why I feel sad. Perhaps due to a few things. My husband has never been a talker but I am. I need to do more things with other people.

Doodle Nice that you went for a meal with your son. My son2 said he'll have us there for lunch when his kitchen is finished- the contractors sub-contacted the jobs to some useless blokes, and they made such a mess of it all that the tiling and painting has all had to be redone. This has all been months now.

Wyllow3 That's a lovely photo of your grandson.

LG had a trip to a park and Starbucks with her nursery recently. The other 2 GDs are in Tenerife with their mum for a week.

Sweetpeasue Mon 19-Oct-26 18:45:26

DoodleIts nice to have a meal with family isnt it- chance to catch up with their news. So much colder now and I think theres rain forecast for quite a while . Dark nights are horrid aren't they.
Wyllow Thankyou for that photo of your DGS . Its lovy that he enjoys reading . It made me smile when you said he did a little jump of joy on hearing of seeing you again.
HVDY I hope you enjoy your trip to the cotswolds- Ive never been there. My DH isnt a talker much either ( except at the bad news on TV) Aww photos of your DGDs . What long eyelashes LG has. She looks lovely among the autumn leaves. Hope the the lump on your calf isnt anything serious . That bang must have been painful. Yes aunt recognises me straight away.
Scaredycat Hope youve been OK today. You're right about needing a PJ day sometimes - though with me its a 'nightie' day.
EllieAnne How are things with you?

Sorry short post but feeling so depressed. Saw this unfamiliar GP and hes going to write the letter to Vascular consultant telling him of DHs pain from stent and his leg issues but he sai DH would need a separate Vascular appt for those. I showed him photo that I posted here of the purple calves - he said def Vascular. DH had notification on his phone a couple of hrs ago to book the Vascular appt -- nearest appt 134 dys! I think thats ridiculous for his painful legs when theyre so bad. Hes booked it - its March. The GP is putting in letter about DHs painful legs to the Vascular consultant aswell as the stent but said he probably wont deal with the 2 issues.
So very depressed and tired .
Love to all.

Doodle Mon 19-Oct-26 20:09:37

HVDY sounds like you need a hobby or something where you can meet others, I know you go to day centre but what about looking at U3A to see if they’ve got anything interesting you’d like to join. Who are you going to the Cotswolds with did you say?
Sorry you bumped your leg hope it’s ok.
Wyllow it’s lovely when children get into reading. Boys often take longer than girls.
No they were cotton traders boots. More decorative than functional but I loved the colour. Sort of fawn
I’ll have a look at the Reacher series.
Sweetpeasue I thought you said your Dh had a phone call from the vascular secretary asking for you to get. Doctors letter about your DH’s chest pain and Doppler results because the vascular consultant wanted them to arrange an earlier appointment. Did you ask for a copy of the docs letter? When you get it you could phone the secretary back and ask her when the consultant might see your Dh. Make a big thing of how much pain he’s in and how worried you are. I cannot see why your Dh should need a separate appointment.
Surely if the vascular consultant mentioned both chest pain and Doppler results then he’s prepared to discuss both things.
I think you should push ahead with the consultant secretary as much as possible. Sorry not nagging just know that you have to keep pushing to get anywhere. Big hug.
Ellie Anne how are things with you and your Dh.

Doodle Mon 19-Oct-26 20:10:43

Scaredycat lovely sunny day here today but the weather is due to change. Rain coming soon I think. Have you been out at all?

Wyllow3 Mon 19-Oct-26 20:24:58

Last night was truly a dark night of the soul: severe night depression, unable to sleep even with my heavy night meds.

Its the Q stuff come home to roost, and I lost a sense of A being there for me with its weight: the lack of support from those who are trying to put things right, or a silence: after so very long. A's condition sometimes works against feeling supported - forgetting to ring me at a critical time as agreed. tho we have just had a long conversation

It's partly a case of Mars and Venus (men and women sometimes being very different) in terms of discussing emotional matters, and I know I am not alone in this at all. On this point: the abuse I had in my last marriage lingers very long, the blame, the lies, and so on. of course that affects the present, and its probably the case that it made my assault and all the aftermath much more difficult. and I can't expect people in the present to factor that in.

(I just had a flash Sweetpeasue of a similarity in being caught up in a Kafkaesque situation - there being serious problems, chasing round to remedy them, hopes raised, then dashed, and a lack of being able to control enough to reassure, so although the situations are so very different, its the intractability of what we face that leads to depression. Whats the way out, etc.)

In your case, its seems to me (I may be wrong here) that DH seems to fall between different medical disciplines, there is no one obvious central department managing all, and resources are scarce. What you need is the feeling of a one or two people who you can turn to.

Now I can turn to MH for depression and other symptoms: except it has now become at matter of scarce resources too after years of relatively good support. (And some very bad instances too, which happens in all areas of care)

It then becomes a matter (for me) of what character wise I have to draw on: acceptance, reminding myself of the love of others, if we are fortunate to have those, ^focusing on what there is, rather than what there is not^:

recalling that my story is a part of many others who have gone through it and hope has come out, people have the ability to survive the most adverse of circumstances, and goodness knows in the world there are many of those who have so much less, or greater problems.

Practically speaking I cannot count on the person organising our little meeting to do what is needful for me to be part of it, which is to restrict what QuakerD is doing, although she is mentally ill, as I too have a right to a part of that group: currently she is unwilling to tell QuakerD how toxic she is.

On that in some ways we are both waiting for Safeguarding to tackle what seems intractable unless D collapses and has to be taken into care,

but she is not at the level of being dangerous to self and other for that to occur.

I did make things better as I went to a Quaker Zoom which is loving and actually brought it up: risky, but paid off to some extent as others said "it happened to me" or "it happened in my meeting".

And I went to the gym for over an hour, and met someone who is into discussing political stuff, for that is the way I understand myself in the world beyond the very personal and family. this afternoon I went to visit F who is MH very ill and physically, but is getting better, I just need to limit the length of time I am there as its very emotionally demanding.

and I am so so tired.

so Sweetpeasue as best I can I am walking with you, as I try to walk with Bd's, for what else is there but speaking out, being heard, and offering what one can?

I hope other BD days went as well as they might and always a listening ear as well as rabbiting on at length....

EllieAnne Mon 19-Oct-26 20:33:43

Things are not good.
Dh still confused and talking rubbish. I wasn’t there today but son 1 was and they managed to find out that they are still talking amputation. But they have said they wouldn’t do anything without talking to family. Dh either gets things wrong or forgets.
I’ll go tomorrow.
Feel sick all the time. Trying to do the right things but I don’t ,want to be with him.
Still trying to sort out the kitchen.

Sweetpeasue Mon 19-Oct-26 21:02:13

Wyllow Oh, yes, the immense tiredness- it can make you feel dizzy and the brain turns to mush.
Thankyou for thinking of my situation and it does seems that different health issues that look the same maybe split, though one would think Vascular conditions would be treated by A particular Vascular surgeon.
As for s'speaking out' and being 'heard' I try to draw a line of not crossing over to 'get their backs up' as I know in the past my formal complaint was met with covering up more and being alienated.
On the other hand I feel so angry but cant know how things work in the NHS and feel powerless.
I do know that I didnt feel I got answers -- also DH wanted to speak and I felt I couldn't persuade my question of what happened to the previous letter that was sent to Vascular about DHs chest pain.
The GP said it had been sent , yet the secretary said shed not got it. I didnt want to get into an argument.
I hope you sleep tonight -- its just so awful to feel so tired.
Doodle Im afraid I didnt ask for a copy of the letter. He was very cold and seemed in a hurry and he also said the Doppler hadnt been completed by the nurse. What had happened was DHs leg started spasming and jumping in pain when she tried to put the cuff around but we do have the lack of various pulses that were all missing - was sent on DHs phone afterwards. The nurse said he was bad and said we should chase up ultrasound if hed not got date in a couple of weeks. When I asked GP today he said the trasound had been rejected as it wasnt a muscular problem - couldn't understand that either as prev GP didnt say it was muscular she knew it was Vascular. Shes on leave( again) all this week.
I think I should still be able to ask for a copy of the GPs letter though, even now. I could ring receptionist and say I want one.
DH is going to ring secretary again in a couple of dys ( when she'll have recieved letter) to ask about the leg problem and if its necessary to see someone different.

Sorry If it all sounds complicated. To myself and DH it shouldn't be. Its the way these GPs work.

Sweetpeasue Mon 19-Oct-26 21:06:01

Wyllow my words should have said ' could not persue my question of what happened to the previous letter----'

Wyllow3 Mon 19-Oct-26 21:40:29

Sweetpeasue, I make typos all the time 🙄.

EllieAnne your situation is very sad indeed, because the love has not been there. And there is currently so much uncertainty. Please do try and involve those in your family who are supportive in your life. They do care. They chose to. You need all the support you can get. Ring and involve them as far as possible. It's their Dad. You brought hem into the world and cared well for them. I realise that DD is problematic and doesnt cope as well.

it was like that in my family - me and my immediate sister, who passed with cancer in 2019, were not able, due to depression to be as involved in some family troubles such as clearing mums home and supporting my sister while she died. (I am thankful however that when my mum was in hospital I was actually a more consistent visitor and was the last to be with her - just 2 months before I was an inpatient on a MH ward).

You carry heavy burden, do lean on people whenever you can in gransnet. Reading the threads on estrangement, for example, you will find so many family situations not unlike yours in one way or another. Take care.

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 20-Oct-26 06:40:23

SweetpeaSue March before your husband's appointment! It really is an appalling state of affairs. As others have said, you could ask for a copy of that letter.

Doodle It's a coach trip, and I'm going alone. I definitely need a hobby, but I don't feel comfortable in a crowd of people. I'll have to think about what I might like to do.

EllieAnne Your husband's confusion might be due to any painkillers he's on. It must be very difficult for you to visit him when you'd rather not be there. Could your sons or DILs go more often instead?

Wyllow3 It's horrible to feel so very tired like that, and yet you've been visiting Quaker F and being supportive of A, too. All the Quaker stuff relating to D is draining you, I think. Going to the gym seems a good idea to get away from it all for a while.

Did aqua aerobics, had brunch, then visited my brother yesterday. LG today. Not sure yet where we'll go. Love to ALL BDers x

Scaredycat Tue 20-Oct-26 19:29:59

Hi all
SweetPeaSue- I don’t know what to say to help you.
For your DH to be messed about so much and having to wait
so long is appalling when he is in so much pain.
Maybe they do need you to say exactly how you feel- it all seems so disjointed and uncaring.
What do your boys think?
Please take care of yourself.
EllieAnne- please confide in your family how much you need them. To carry all this emotion and deal with such conflicting emotions is too much to manage on your own.
This is a terrible situation for you and your DH and they need to help you as you do them when they need you.
HVDY- such sweet photos- what a lovely little girl she is.
Yes it would be nice for you to find something that fires your interest and enables you to meet some new people. As others have said U3A has numerous interest groups you might enjoy.
It is difficult when DH is quiet - mine is too but I have my DD and Gds etc who all love to chat. It’s not the same with lads is it. My DS phones and FaceTimes but not as often as I,d like.
You did a lot yesterday - hope your Brother was feeling OK.
Good for you booking your trip- you,ll love the Cotswolds it’s so pretty.
Doodle- your advice for SweetPeaSue sounded so helpful. You have much experience .She is in such a terrible quandary .
Yesterday my lovely GD2 came to stay the night with DD so she could visit her Grandad in rehab. She has worked extensively in rehab and wanted to see him for herself- she lives a few hours away. She thought his care was very good and he’s being seen after very well but he’s very frail.
So today I had a coffee morning with DD,GD1 and 2 before she goes back. We all miss her a lot - she’s a lovely person. Then photography this afternoon so a nice day all round there’s been some difficult ones lately so it was lovely. I hope you,ve had a good day today and enjoy Church tomorrow.
Wyllow- it’s awful being that tired cos it’s mental and physical isn’t it. The Q stuff is still going round in your head I guess sometimes A ,s condition must affect him quite badly too.Your thoughts are wise though- if it’s possible concentrate on the good in your life of which there is much. When the Accident happened I had to do that big time or I would have broken.
It’s kind of you to visit F but don’t stay too long or take on too much - your own health is paramount. You have made such strides.

Love to all wishing peaceful nights for you all

Im not sure I can answer all properly as I found all over the place.
Just wanted everyone yo know how much I appreciate your help.
Doodle Thanks for your hug , I know you care. Its ok you dont sound like you're nagging at all.
DH not keen on copy of letter - he thinks unnecessary - I dont. Got a form from receptionist he had to fill in and give ID . Receptionist wasnt sure which one we wanted but then found electronic one informing consultant of his chest pain AND new leg pain as he hoped consultant might treat both if connected, even though he also made separate referral to Vascular dept about leg pain. It seems sorted so DH didnt ask for print out as he has medical details on his NHS app of Doppler aswell.
Its been an awful morning with DH wanting to leave it altogether and not discuss it at all.
Anyway he's ringing secretary tomorrow to see if she has latest information and to see if its all correct. I would do it but he wants to though everything is better if we both hear whats going on at appts. He can get things wrong and Im not immune either.
One thing we're bith sure about is we didnt like the GPs attitude yesterday at all. Not an ounce of caring or compassion in his clipped manner ,was very abrupt at cutting us off.
Sorry to go on so long about it all - I feel so stressed at the lack of communication between people and its trying to join the dots.
I hope your day has been OK and youve had friends to see. You must get lonely for your DH and even though you try to fill your days the nights are drawing in quickly now arent they?
EllieAnne Its so hard for you to visit your DH when you dont want to be there. I think as HVDY says it would be much better if your sons or / and DILs could share some of the visiting. Hope you get some better news today.
HVDY First thing Id like to ask you is - 'Can I come with you on Sunday please?'
😂 We should all get a mini bus for all BDs. Hope youve had a nice time with LG today.

Scaredycat Once again your words to us feel so much from the heart. You have a way with words and Im sure you must have many friends. Must be great to have daughters and DGDs to go out with. Girls do generally seem to be more chatty. Son 1 doesnt know the latest in DHs health probs and son 2 ,well, I think it all goes over his head a bit , but hes had a lot on his mind lately and starting a new job. He'll not have the awfully long journeys back and forth to Scotland.
Wyllow Scaredycat put it well abkut you not taking on too many troubles from others . You do sound like your head is so full -- we've much in common there. Hope today you have had A to share some things with . Your gym is so important for your MH aswell as physical so its great that you can go there and see your gym friends too.

Sending love to all and wishing a peaceful night.
