What kind of pillows do you favour? Soft and squashy? Bouncy? Ultra firm? There are so many types that it's quite confusing when you go to choose one. How many do you use? One, two, more, or none at all? I like to squash mine up and make a kind of nest! I'm probably doing it all wrong...

I much prefer a feather pillow, tried all the rest but always return to feather. I sleep with just one all the rest end up on the floor.

MiceElf Tue 27-May-14 08:14:20

Two. One to sleep on, one to drape over the bedstead to make a protective shield. But it's so disappointing to find my nicely starched and pressed pillowcases all creased in the morning.

To make the bed look nice, we have three ranging from softest at the top to firmest at the bottom. These are also used for day time 'rests'. For sleeping all but the bottom one, which is a Tempur end up on the floor!

whenim64 Tue 27-May-14 08:20:21

Feather ones - I also like to make a nest. The Tempur pillow is relegated to the spare room - too heavy and unwieldy.

HollyDaze Tue 27-May-14 08:21:22

Goose down pillows, two of them.

moomin Tue 27-May-14 08:22:05

Soft and squashy for me, but with a touch of firmness nevertheless. Oh and just one at a time

Soutra Tue 27-May-14 08:25:40

One of the things I hate about going to Germany is being given a pillow about the thickness (and comfort factor) of a digestive biscuit.

ninathenana Tue 27-May-14 08:26:57

I really don't like a soft pillow. If we are travelling by car for an over night stay I will take my memory foam pillow with me, which my family find highly amusing. I use another ordinary foam pillow underneath.

Since feeding the 'babies' in bed at night, I have always had at least 3. One for sleeping on, then one firm one for support and a big squishy one on top to nestle down on plus a big square continental one for even more support when required. I have to remember not to trip over them in the morning as I chuck them one by one onto the floor as they become redundant. I find soft squishy downie ones tend to wrap around my head and try to suffocate me so tend to go for the man-made variety [comfused]

Marmight Tue 27-May-14 08:27:59

confused even!

Agus Tue 27-May-14 08:33:13

Two feather for sleeping then a large square feather one with a pillow sham when the bed is made and for extra support when sitting up reading in bed.

As DH seems to dance in his sleep and crease every inch of his side, I have suggested he tries levitation. So far, no luck!

janeainsworth Tue 27-May-14 08:34:37

I know what you mean about the combination of softness and firmness moomin. Does anyone confess to having an ultra-stylish, many-pillowed, multi-layered White Company type bedroom, or do we just have a duvet chucked on the bed and 2 pillows at most?

Riverwalk Tue 27-May-14 09:04:01

I also like soft & squashy but firm! Must be synthetic fibre.

Jane I don't have a multi-article dressed bed that has to be deconstructed before you get in .... duvet and pillows for me!

Lona Tue 27-May-14 09:27:36

Just one feather pillow to sleep on, as advised by my chiropractor.
I confess to a multi pillowed dressed bed, but not quite White Co.

Ariadne Tue 27-May-14 09:27:47

Pillows and cushions for me, but just the memory foam pillow to sleep on, so all the rest get chucked on the floor. I also have a couple of sort of cylindrical pillows which I have been using under the knee while I recover. The cushions are white crocheted lace (IKEA) and the rest are white with touches of navy blue - have to confess that my bed looks lovely until I get into it and mess it up.

On the subject of beds does everyone have a headboard on their bed? I ask this question cause the S.O. never has headboards [just a divan with pillows] and I find a bed without a headboard looks unfinished. I've noticed [from looking in Right Move] that some other people don't use them either. It seems really odd sitting up in bed reading a book and not having a headboard to rest against.

annodomini Tue 27-May-14 09:52:29

I have a three-quarter sized bed for which I couldn't find a headboard that I liked when I bought it 13 years ago, so have made do with the wall.

MiniMouse Tue 27-May-14 10:03:50

Definitely a headboard - and a 'footboard' to keep the covers on the bed and not the floor.

I use a buckwheat pillow in cotton pillowcases. They stay pleasantly cool and you can 'shape' them to fit around your shoulders/neck etc. Lovely!

nanapug Tue 27-May-14 10:57:17

Memory foam for me every time. I too take it away with me. Only took me two nights to get used to it and I am getting far fewer neck problems. I do however buy cheap ones from Ikea and throw them often as I am dribbler sad

Charleygirl Tue 27-May-14 11:35:18

I cannot remember the last time I had a headboard on my bed- possibly my teens.

I use 2 pillows, the bottom one is plain foam and quite squishy whereas the top one is memory foam which I love.

I haven't heard of those before Minimouse - I also have to use pillows that can be moulded around my neck and shoulders (due to an ancient spinal injury); I might have a look and see where to get them from smile

rosesarered Tue 27-May-14 14:17:51

DH has a memory foam [quite a 'dear' one, as they do vary.] I like 2 pillows, the bottom one firm, man made fibre the top one feather.I agree Soutra about the flat pillow that is given in some countries, awful.

rosesarered Tue 27-May-14 14:18:46

We always have a headboard, the current one in pine.

ninathenana Tue 27-May-14 16:25:53

I love our king size sleigh bed with built in head and footboard. Those of you without a headboard, do you not find your pillows disappear down between the mattress and the wall ?
