following on from the thread about what small thing would make things better, what have you got recently which you couldn't now live without?

. . . my reach and grab stick, it helps me dust, grab my glasses, feed the dog, open the window, just a fantastic piece of kit for only a few pounds. smile

Thanks jing, I just have visions of it weighing down my hair because it has oil in it.

Amazed at all the iPads. I've always been an Android gal.

Wilma it's Argon oil. I expect that was an Ipad whoopsy. smile

(sorry for pulling your leg)

My desk top computer, I am addicted to it. When it broke down recently I was suffering from withdrawal symptoms.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 10-Feb-16 09:56:11

Doh! I knew it didn't sound right, but I've only got one eye open so far this morning and am still dozy! Well, I might be dozy any way! grin

The one thing I couldn't do without is music.

I make cards and recently bought a Cricut which is an electronic cutter ... love, love, love it! I know I could live without it, but don't want to!

I have recently bought a little widget about the size of a large matchbox which automatically turns on lamps to save you scrabbling (?) behind pieces of furniture to find the switch. It works up to 3 lamps and you just stand in the doorway to switch them on. Oh, the feeling of power! (PM me for details)

My laminator and ring binding machine. I love making picture books for the youngest two - using photos and downloaded pictures. The most recent one was called "what is James eating?" and included all his favourite foods and pictures of him eating. The older boys like to make up their own stories as I type, and we then choose the pictures together to illustrate them. These personalised books are constantly chosen for bedtime reads, even long after the making of them.

I love my very old, thin metal springy fish slice (or fish turner as a friend calls it). Where oh where can I get a new one like this?
Both the non-stick pan sort and the metal ones are way too thick and not nearly flexible enough.
Ideas please..
Thanks!

At the risk of sounding smug, I have lots of "stuff" I would prefer not to be without, buth they are all old (over 5/6 years) so don't count... grin

Jing, I'm glad that I'm not the only one having trouble with my electric can opener. Sometimetimes it works first go, other times I keep having to reposition the can, but it does save my hands from struggling with the old fashioned one. By the way, has anyone seen the Youtube clip about opening a can by rubbing the seal on concrete? Perhaps I read about it on here hmm

My I-Pad as well - but also recently purchased an electric blanket which DH thinks is wonderful, I must admit I do too. Never imagined we would have one and have always poo pooed the idea, but it is great.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 10-Feb-16 11:38:43

I wish I had a remote control for our electric fire Worthingpatchworkers

My new sewing machine, because it has an automatic threader device which makes it so much easier. It used to take me ages to thread my old sewing machine needle, eyes not being anything like what they were. I dreaded the thread snapping, or needing to change colour. Now it's a doddle! I really could not do without it.

My huge electric over blanket. Keeps me toastie warm, wrapped up watching TV at night, no need to switch on the portable heater (only got night storage heater). It has 6 different settings and turns itself off after 2 hours. A really good buy.

Gaggi3 Wed 10-Feb-16 12:46:05

My Kindle, recently updated to a Paperwhite. I love it.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 10-Feb-16 13:02:13

tigger thanks for the heads up! grin

I like the remote control for the lights. Very cool.

Indinana what a brilliant idea!

This thread might cost me a fortune! grin

heads off to Google to start searching

My iPad. (Hangs head in shame) well I could live without it, but I love it sooo much?

Misslayed Wed 10-Feb-16 14:17:40

Toastabags - put an ordinary cheese and ham sarnie in, put bag in toaster, two minutes later a delicious toastie pops up.
My electronic piano, sounds and behaves just like a grand piano and doesn't need tuning ( Father Chrustmas brought me that!). I can lose two hours playing it.
My remote control for the gas fire.
Underfloor heating. There is a small area without it, and every time I walk over it in bare feet I am thankful that I spent the extra money. It heats the whole house!
PV panels on my roof. They earned me a 9% tax free return last year and my leccy bill is £20/month cheaper too.
Fully paid up member of the iPad appreciation society too.
