On a different note....
we had another family quiz on zoom last night which was excellent fun. Questions such as "what was top of the pops the month each of our DC were born?". And I remembered!!! Mind you those were about the only questions I could answer so lost to my DGS by a margin.
DD is in the new place and managed to join the quiz so must have some means of communicating.
A shepherd went past on his quad bike and waved to her but they can't meet people or make friends. It's extremely rural -a field away from a loch.
How are youngsters supposed to meet romantically? Romeo and Juliet come to mind.

Gammeratto we have met one of our new neighbours and had several conversations at a safe distance. On Monday there was a card in our letterbox from the neighbour on the other side saying welcome to the neighbourhood and they looked forward to chatting when we are able.
It is interesting time we live in.
SueH49 that's so nice to hear. I am sure that the "neighbours" know they have arrived and as soon as they have a phone will feel more connected. She can't let the DC play outdoors by themselves yet as there is no proper fence. But there must be lambs about to be born on the farm and at least it is Spring and not winter - another good reason to be happy that you and Shandy have sold up.
Grammaretto you made me laugh about young lovers' trusts! Isn't there something called sexting these days?
Isn’t it the Chinese that have an old curse.....may you live in interesting times!
Know I not up with technology but what is zoom? The zoom I know of was Zoom the white dolphin which was a video my children loved when little. It was French dubbed into awful English. Also seen something called zoom yoga !
Oops lovers' *trysts not trusts!
I understand Zoom to be like video conferencing. A bit like Boris uses to have his meetings in isolation, and Hancock and Witty can all join in. Clever stuff.
That's a good name for a dolphin Whiff.
Zoom is for video conferencing for more than 4 which is the maximum for WhatsApp..

Some have better reception than others. They are both free.
I cleaned half a bookshelf this morning. I have so many books which I won't read in a lifetime. At least I have read the titles!
Just 'zooming' in to say I have had an 'aha' moment.
I've just been on the phone to my best friend and told her about my buyer's negotations with the EA, and the fact I hadn't been told he'd increased his offer. She had worked at an EA, and said if it had been an official offer, it should have sent it in writing. I can only speculate it had not been confirmed, makes me feel better as his auction bid was only £10K less.
Shandy, I know I’m late with this comment and have said it before, but she will get it eventually, but not for a while yet. She is still very immature but will grow up, and as for thinking that the damage is irreparable, hmmm, she needs you more than you need her. I speak from experience. Honestly.
Whiff was so brave to say what we have all tried to, and I cheered when I read it. I hope you take it on board, we all say it with love and with your best interests at hear. Remember the phrase ‘steely determination”. Love that. Wish I was on grans net back in the day and had access to all this kind and wonderful wisdom. I do understand, and it IS hard, but so ultimately worthwhile
Time to draw that line across again. The aim now is to get shandy sorted, wish we could help but yes room by room will get it done and tbh it will help kill time during the next 7 weeks. Don`t bother with the garden shandy, not neccessary
I discoved the whooshing noise on my bike and the chain guard has shattered at the bottom screwhole. Drat, they are made especially for the bike and none to be had because it is a German bike now out of production. Very comfy with a low step through, I would cry my eyes out if I didn`t have it. Yes I could use it without a chain guard but that would mean always remembering trouser clips
wd14 rust penetrating oil spray helped me remove the 3 screws. I picked up the loose plastic bits from the floor as the fastening completely shattered at that point. Gorilla gel superglue and a piece of gorilla tape and the guard is back on the bike and tested
I am going to deserve my afternoon break, will be watching one girl after lunch. I am making 2 pizzas today, have stuff to use up before more veg comes tomorrow. Ooh yes maybe my mon cherie chocolates will come today
Our south west weather report just said "isolated showers"! Even the weather is following instructions!!

People can be so kind. On another thread on GN, I mentioned that I was having to ration my knitting as I was concerned about running out of yarn. My big stock on yarn I gave to my Knitting for Peace group before I moved. I now only make knitted toys, which then give to various charities for them to sell.
Anyway a lovely Gnetter, with whom I have never had anything to do before this, has now sent me a bag of double knitting yarn. It is so very very kind and generous of her.
With this I will be able to make a whole of lot of comfort dolls - if you are not sure what these are, do google them.
Just returned from my little trundle round the park and catch-up with my daughter. I was able to get her some plain flour when I went shopping this morning, knew she was virtually out of this.
Oh Fran how lovely. So very kind and thoughtful.. I’ve never seen comfort dolls, so googled them. They’re exquisite. They must be so fiddly, but so satisfying to make. I am in awe
Shandy57 when I went to clean out the inside of the top box on my husbands wardrobe I couldn't reach the back . So grabbed my walking stick and used the handle to sweep across a Fiesta girlie magazine hit me on the head. It was dated 1986. He had the last laugh on me after all. Told the children neither comment ed just gave me a look. Couldn't have been a pile of fives.
Pace yourself and have a daily reward.
Franbern that was lovely thing to do. One of my craft group knits toys for her local hospice .
Craftyone is your bike old ? Is there a local bike shop than may be able to make the part.
There has been going a lot of construction noise going on here all day. I thought it was all stopped. The gardener has been in the street today. He works for a number of my neighbours .
Spent 1.5, hours in the garden again. Then had a nap for hour. At least it's exercise and fresh air.
Don't know about you but my days are merging into one. My weeks used to be structured it's quite odd. But it's for everyones safety.
oh yes, me too, my days are merging into one, I have no idea what day it is unless I look. My bike is ok now, there is a local mobile cycle maintenance man, I will ask him to service it, perhaps, when all this is over. We just have to sit tight for now. That is very funny about that magazine.
they are beautiful Franbern

Can any of you Zoom users help me? I can’t download Zoom because it needs a fingerprint and won’t accept mine. There is no option to use a password, so I am frustrated. My book group is keen to meet digitally but I can’t get started. Any advice welcome!
It's an app like any other and shouldn't need a fingerprint. Can you try downloading it on another device? GrannySomerset
A laptop works best for us rather than a phone.

I THINK I have now installed Zoom on my laptop, local U3A is going to use it. Followed all the instructions (password required), but do not know how to put it as one of those little icons at the bottom of the screen. I will have to ask for help from son in Law, locked in his bedroom a quarter of a mile away.
Sure it is much to do with the cloudy weather as anything else, but have been a little down today. Nothing too bad, but it just seems to be going on and on and we have no idea when it is likely to start to end. Probably need a good nights sleep, not used to be up that early. Sure I will feel fine tomorrow,.
My ostomy stuff was delivered as normal today - when I spoke to the company who always gets my repeat prescriptions made up for these, they say they are working as normal and not to worry. Also, had phone call from near pharmacy who does my repeat prescriptions from my GP to say that those that I ordered on line a couple of days ago are ready for collection - will do that tomorrow.
we are really quite fortunate, many in other countries cannot follow the simple instructions of staying safe at home and use hot water and soap, as they have none of these available.
Your dog looks adorable. At least you won't have to dry him off when it rains.
Ha Ha! He does look like the ultimate spoiled pet! I know about the arthritis but I hope you are OK!! 3 hours is a long walk.
That's cute. And a nice big hood for rainy weather.
