Welcome back razzamatazz Glad you're nearly all complete, how nice of your neighbour to help like that. Thanks for dropping in and updating us. When I first saw that pic of the bees nest I thought it was some sourdough bread you'd made, I'm sitting in the garden and there is a lot of glare on the screen, so need to pack up on here now, I'll take another look when I'm inside.

Karmalady my DD did say the same a week or so back. My son is dyslexic, only found this out when he went to college and then when he went to Uni he was given a special dyslexic laptop. Does make me wonder!

Afternoon all, Day 3. I'm surviving in my 'caravan' of the lounge/kitchen but not sleeping well on the blow up bed. It was worth the money, six days in it's still fully inflated. It's hard having to come round the side of the house, stupidly I didn't do a big shop before they started.

Front bedroom floor nearly complete, second bedroom being prepared for the new boards this morning. The noise is horrendous and they have their radio on full blast. What I hadn't appreciated was that I'm going to have to varnish it all when the job is complete, so lucky I had the job done in summer weather and I can keep the windows open.

Thankfully Better Call Saul has another three seasons, just wish I knew where my cordless headphones were!

Gosh what a good difference razz, the varnish will be all you need and a rug or two. Matt??

I'm going satin karmalady. Men said to get a roller on a long handle to do the main floor, small brush to do the edges. So very dull but at least the rooms are small here, I can't imagine having to do it you know where!

I am fed up, such bad timing for my health to change. A vein broke in the top of my leg March 2021, and I had to send a photo to the surgery, could only get a telephone consultation. It's hurt on and off since then. This morning I woke up and I have an odd red patch alongside the vein, and the skin feels different. Not hot or swollen, but it hurts. Rang the doctor and held on for 30 minutes to be told to ring at 8 am tomorrow. I've taken ibuprofen and will be up early for the men coming at 8 am, will be on the phone hopefully when they arrive. I did ring 111 - huge queue. I went on line and their suggestions are ridiculous for 'self diagnosis'. Argh!

Could be worse. Someone on MSE stored her belongings two months ago for her move - she's been trying to contact the storage company and has just found out they owed rent and were evicted, along with her belongings, no-one knows where they've gone.

Morning all. I'm thanking my lucky stars I didn't camp in the garden, heavy rain and the temperature has really dropped.

Relieved to say, after a bath and many applications of antiseptic, leg inflammation seems to be a bite. Thank heavens for that, I'm too busy to be ill!

Lovely floor Razz can't you get the floor fitters to varnish the floors? I always have a bad reaction to bites, keep putting the cream on till it's gone.

It's lovely and sunny here, no rain since a few weeks back, it was 31` here yesterday, too hot for comfort! Must dash, take doggie for walkies then off to work, back by lunch time, but must stop for some prosecco and an extra gift for my DD birthday tomorrow, I've ordered some earrings online which is said to arrive tomorrow [on the day!] but just in case.

I do both love and hate social media

I had to take my dog to the vet for his monthly jab this morning, and took him to the beach afterwards. He likes to run into the sea and the tide was right out, the best type of sea for him as he's wobbly on his legs and it is only gently lapping on the strandline. Imagine my surprise to firstly see a jelly fish in the water - late this year, it's normally June - and then, poking face up through the sand under the water, an IPhone! I had to go into the water a bit and soak my skechers, but it was a big IPhone 8.

Came home and posted on three local Fb pages. I'd popped out the SIM so I knew which network and didn't put a photo on the post. Within thirty minutes I heard from the owner's wife, she identified the colour/case/network etc. He'd lost it there yesterday and is coming later after work - an hour and a half away! Apparently putting a wet phone into rice is a wive's tale - best to put into a freezer ziplock bag with silica gel.

just a tip, to get air flowing through properly ie upwards and out, open the loft hatch. I do that every time it gets too warm and being new build, my house is retaining heat. I opened the hatch yesterday at 7pm and am leaving it open as long as inside is warmer than out. It is absolutely brilliant, made a very big difference to the air circulation, which is never enough for cooling, even with every window and the patio and front doors open

Fancy finding that i-phone Razz! that man must have been sooo pleased with you. It is true re rice, I dropped my mobile down the toilet [in dressing gown pocket] I buried it in rice and put it in the warm oven over night, in the morning it worked! My DD has done the same with same results. My son got stung by a jellyfish last week and I saw 2 on the beach!

My delivery came last night whilst I was at work, my son took it in, really lovely earrings and a new drill for my son to renovate the studio into his own place.

my house has cooled down very well, it was an experiment as I have never left that hatch open (for so long. It drops to about 15" and from there I would pull it down to release the stairs, I just left it in the 15" position.

I did decide to do some garden watering last evening, just with a watering can, the lifting exercise is beneficial. Ground cover is working so well and spreading. I only watered the new echinacea, new grasses and asparagus beds. All the other plants in the ground are doing well, thanks to all the humus that worms have taken down into the depths, which makes roots go down deeper.

No more maintenance now for the forseeable, apart from lubricating all the moving parts in the double glazing. Has to be silicone spray for that, definitely not wd40. I shall do that second half of september and will coat the wooden benches with osmo uv protection oil to be ready for winter, a job for after the next hot weather session

Morning all

Didn't water my plants as I usually do, too tired after a day of celebrating my DD birthday. Babysitting at theirs tonight, so DD&H can go out for a birthday meal together.

Which ground cover plant did you use Karmalady, I'm going to put the rest of the last bag of bark down if I get time today, have to go back to the shops yet again as need doggie's chicken. I get the thighs, about 7 in pack, cook them with pots & veg and then that his dinner for the whole week done.

Sprayed my plants with vinegar & water yesterday, hope that stops those pesky caterpillars eating them! I've been going out every evening after watering to catch the slugs that are eating my plants too. First couple of days I picked up loads, getting less and less, so seems best way to get rid.

Yogin a good ground covering plant is Phlox doesn't grow very high comes in variety of colours and long lasting flowers . Spreads quicky and easy to split and transplant.

Afternoon all, lovely to read your gardening discussion. I've got to have the cherry tree taken down as it is right up against the fence, and once the plums have ripened the plum tree.

I'm really enjoying the peace this morning, glad I can recharge my batteries over the weekend. I've got a new method to get off the high inflatable bed and feel a bit better, it is like being trapped in a giant yorkshire pudding.
I have also found my cordless ear phones.

I've had a horrible experience just now. It has got too busy around here as a tourist destination, and everyone seems to be driving very, very fast.

I went for petrol and as I left the garage, saw a wood pigeon hit on the road, but still alive. I pulled over and ran back, and the poor thing was being repeatedly hit by cars, but not killed, until I'd almost got to it when the last driver finished it off. Bloody horrible, it was a wide road, he might have survived if I'd been able to get him. Argh, I do need my own island!

razz, your post made me laugh then was sad. those fast tourists would go bonkers if outsiders drove like them in their own locality. That poor pigeon.

It was a lovely day with family, very relaxed and we walked around the town. I finally know what that new double-fronted shop will be, fortunately it won`t clash with existing shops and they will get plenty of footfall. It won`t be for me though, fancy twee furnishings etc stuff that I would have taken to the cs ages ago

I managed to empty a useful little storage unit with doors, in my en suite. I bought it for here, 3 1/2 years ago, it slotted in around the washbasin pedestal. It has been very useful but little by little I am refining various areas and cs now has it

Oh Razz what a horrible thing to see, poor bird, they do wonder on the roads, I often stop or drive really slowly to avoid them.

Have a nice Sunday all. I'm thinking of given up my Sunday work, It's only a couple of hours and I'm back by lunch time but it would be nice to stay home, also family gathering often happen on a Sunday.

very understandable yogi, sunday is still a special day for me, a treat or two even if on my own, a definite cycle ride. It is quieter here but lovely on a sunday. It could be just another day but it isn`t, it has a different feel

It crossed my mind to get those wooden benches coated later but that would be silly, the oil coat would dry before it sinks in properly. I will be sitting outside as soon as the shade comes to the east wall, I love to hear the tinkling water feature and soon, when it gets cooler by day, I shall get one of my spinning wheels out and spin outside. That tends to happen when I integrate with the changing season.

Afternoon all, it's heaving with tourists here today. I went to the beach and was about 20ieth in the car park attendant queue - I normally drive straight through as I have a pass.

I hope you can give your Sunday work up Yogi, I do think it horrible having to work on a Sunday. Sundays should be a lie in, newspapers, nice walk and pub lunch, old black and white film watching and a nice light supper later in the evening.

Talking of walks, I was sorry to hear a dog walking friend's dog has broken his leg He's in dog hospital, and as a greyhound, it's very serious. Taking some dog biscuits round on my evening walk, I have a vague idea of where they live.

I'm still watching Better Call Saul, glad there is another season! Eating some chocolate this afternoon, I gave up bread about five weeks ago and lost a few pounds - it's all back. Live laugh love and eat cake!

Morning all, start of week 2 and definitely no toilet or bathroom for a few days as the floors are up today and tomorrow. The chemical toilet had to be dragged nearer to the road when the emptying man came as his pipe wouldn't reach. Luckily door faces the back garden so it won't be too public!

My poor old dog has developed another interdigital cyst overnight so I won't be able to plonk him in the bath to bathe it. Fingers crossed I can get him into the vets today, it does hurt him.
