Do you make your bed as soon as you get up?

Question of the week grin

Sometimes I just leave it ( although I really dislike getting into an unmade bed )

I love a beautiful made bed but it does take time.
excuses excuses.

Definitely not. Duvet & throw thrown back to air when I get up. Bed made and Electric blanket on half an hour before bed time.

Exactly this! :-)

Once I retired from work, I fell into the habit of falling out of bed, and straight into kitchen to make breakfast, which I then eat in front of tv in Living room. I leave the bed airing during that time, duvet pulled right back which can be anything up to two hours.
When I go back into bedroom for shower and getting dressed, I make the bed so, that is nice to look at for the rest of the day.

I also throw back the duvet to air the bed, straighten the bottom sheet and leave it most days until I go to bed with my hot water bottle.

The same as Theexwife.

I usually have breakfast in my dressing gown and then go back upstairs to dress. That’s when I make the bed. I couldn’t leave it any longer. The only exception is if I’m going out early in which case the bed will be made first.

tanith

Mines aired with open windows quilt turned back and pillows off usually till lunch time but its always made before bed.

Much the same here.

GranEd Fri 17-Feb-23 14:44:25

I rarely make the bed as I’m always first up.
DH throws the duvet back as he gets up and then makes the bed as soon as he’s washed and dressed. #lazygran 🤣

We always throw back the duvet and open the windows for a couple of hours, then the bed is made properly, I have a bit of a ‘thing’ about beds. When I return to bed with an early morning cup of tea, and my husband with the morning paper, it has to be immaculate with plumped pillows etc. so I suppose in a way, the bed us made twice a day.

Me too.

I don’t, I turn it back to air but then I sometimes forget all about it. I wish I could actually be bothered to make the bed look nice with a throw and a couple of cushions and also tidy away the jeans on the chair in the corner. sad
It is so much nicer to come back to!

maddyone Fri 17-Feb-23 15:37:21

I throw the duvet and top sheet back (yes I have a top sheet) and air it for at least twenty minutes, often longer. Then I make it, smoothing the bottom sheet, plumping up pillows, cushions etc so it’s nice to look at and straight to get into later, having removed the cushions of course.

crazyH Fri 17-Feb-23 15:40:59

Yes Maw - same here

Smileless2012 Fri 17-Feb-23 15:42:54

Same as you aonk. Hate an unmade bed.

Kandinsky Fri 17-Feb-23 16:21:32

Thanks all!
Great tips to re: airing.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 17-Feb-23 16:28:17

No, I always throw the duvet right back, then open the windows.

I make the bed about a couple of hours later.

I like a calm bedroom at bedtime.

When I lived in Switzerland - many decades ago when duvets were unusual in GB, feather duvets seemed to aired out the windows or on the balcony in every bedroom window every morning - protected by the overhanging eaves of the house, come rain or shine.
So I still pull the duvet back each morning and let it air- although not out of the window!

GrannyGravy13 Fri 17-Feb-23 16:35:31

Throwback duvet whilst showering and then make it once dressed, always have a bedroom window open.

I am slightly OCD about all of the bedrooms and the beds have to be made complete with throws and cushions including the twin beds in the GC’s room.

I wouldn’t be able to settle knowing there was an unmade bed upstairs.

karmalady Fri 17-Feb-23 16:37:03

Beds need airing, humans sweat about 25ml per hour of sleep. I throw the covers back and re-make in about 2 hours. I too like a calm neat bedroom at bedtime

I also throw back the duvet to air the bed, straighten the bottom sheet and leave it most days until I go to bed with my hot water bottle.

Perfect

I throw my duvet over the windowsill as often as I can - both sunlight and cold get rid of germs I think. No overhanging eaves here sadly, so not possible on rainy days, but bed is always well aired. I make it mid-morning usually.

I also like my spare beds made up with cushions and throws, shocking I know, as if in my mind's eye we are running a boutique hotel. 'cept my guests don't pay anything! My granddaughter has now moved in spare slippers as well as a lot of other odds and sods, how can I explain to her, overly, garish, furry slippers are ruining my aesthetic grin I'm not quite as bad as one woman I read about in a colour supplement who liked her bedrooms so immaculate she didn't even want her grown up children coming to stay, because they mucked them up........and we sometimes have a dog in them as well with our grown up children, who has absolutely no respect for tastefully arranged cushions at all shock

GrannyGravy13 Fri 17-Feb-23 17:07:39

That’s made me feel better TerriBull 🤣👍

Kim19 Fri 17-Feb-23 17:10:01

Same as majority here. I roll back the duvet, tidy up the undersheet, open the windows and leave the rooms to freshen until about an hour before I return to bed.

M0nica Fri 17-Feb-23 17:16:43

I am another who pulls the bedclothes back it air until it is cool before remaking it.

MrsKen33 Fri 17-Feb-23 17:23:38

Well I don’t. I’m first for the shower so DH makes it. Very well too I might add.
