What do you keep out on your kitehen worktops?

I am soon going to have the kitchen diner repainted and am trying to find space to put things away but my kitchen is small. I am quite happy in normal times to have a number of items on my worktops. I don’t want to be climbing or bending to get things out to use, nor am I a minimalist. I offered various items to my daughter and granddaughter to make some space and they want me to put everything away permanently.
What do you happily leave out on your worktops?

Breadbin
Airfryer
Utensil pot
Chopping boards
Soup maker
Biscuit barrel
Kettle
Tea & coffee canisters

Maybe I should declutter. My neighbour puts everything in a cupboard even her kettle 🤷‍♀️

I have a sideboard on the kitchen also which is full of post, plants, tissue box napkin holder, tray with gin and whiskey and other spirits box that holds keys etc etc…… the lust is endless 😂 It is home tho and I like my bits around me

Just do whatever makes you happy and not what others think you should do is my advice. It is your home

Only the kettle and toaster. I’m lucky to have a lot of easily accessible storage space.

Kettle, toaster, microwave and large chopping board which is a lovely piece of wood.

A microwave oven, KitchenAid, chopping board and toaster, utensil holder and a fruit bowl and egg bowl. I have a kettle and coffee machine out in the same place as a drinks station. That still leaves me plenty of space.

Fortunately my microwave and coffee machine are both built in (may not be so fortunate if they go wrong of course!).

Everything but the kitchen sink blush

Toaster, bread bin, microwave, kitchen roll, trivet, kettle on gas hob, 4mug holder, tea/coffee/biscuit canisters, teapot in cosy.

All the above are in daily use and gadgets used infrequently, (think air fryer, slo cooker, bread maker, mixer, blender) are in larder cupboard as it’s a tiny kitchen and I can’t bear clutter!

Pots, pans, utensils, cutlery and china in cupboards and drawers along with tea towels, dishcloths, dusters etc

I used to envy friends with huge kitchens complete with islands/peninsulas for dining and all their posh gadgets on display but have since seen the amount of effort needed to keep it all gleaming, so not for me!

I’ve a kettle and matching breadbin - the latter used to hid all sorts, not just a loaf and on either side of the hob, I’ve kitchen roll and a salt pig.

Breadbin butter dish, tea coffee biscuits sugar tins, oil and olive oil in decorative bottles with pouring spout, microwave Scissors in wooden block, cooking utensils in stone jars, kettle toaster, fruit bowl, le creuset saucepans in wooden stand, air fryer, metal stand with le creuset casserole dishes, and a le creuset kettle on the gas hob. Wow that seems an awful lot but I do have an 18ft long kitchen diner.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 05-Apr-24 14:53:41

Blimey! Mine’s 25 feet long and I only have the kettle and toaster out!

Kettle, microwave, toaster and kitchen roll holder. Following a fire last year my husband retro fitted many of our kitchen cupboards to take the bread machine, ice cream maker, food processor, food mixer and sundry small appliances. I love that all my countertops can be clear - although in practice that only happens once a week on the day my cleaner comes. 🙄

Bread bin, bread and chopping boards, toaster, kettle, ceramic jars for tea, sugar and spaghetti, small TV, fruit bowl, salt ‘pig’, utensil jar.
I don’t have room to put it all away, and TBH probably wouldn’t even if I did.

Fairy liquid ( I use a dishwasher ) a kettle, eggs. A pot with lots o& utensils. A selection of part filled wine bottles, we dont really drink at home so if someone has had some it always left and saved for cooking. Pestle and mortar, Bamix, large kitchen roll on stick, butter dish tray with various bits of paper work and odds and ends.
I wish I could be tidier and more organised but it is what is.

Callistemon21 Fri 05-Apr-24 16:24:41

I forgot the butter dish 🙂

It's in the utility room.
