What do you keep out on your kitehen worktops?

I am soon going to have the kitchen diner repainted and am trying to find space to put things away but my kitchen is small. I am quite happy in normal times to have a number of items on my worktops. I don’t want to be climbing or bending to get things out to use, nor am I a minimalist. I offered various items to my daughter and granddaughter to make some space and they want me to put everything away permanently.
What do you happily leave out on your worktops?

I don’t think anyone has mentioned food recycling bin Where does everyone keep it ?

I'm wondering the same as the food recycling caddy is one of the items I also keep on the worktop

Oooh dear! It’s a small square kitchen with lower cupboards and work surfaces on 3 walls:
Rack of saucepans
Food processor
Electric can opener
Basket with vitamins etc in
Kitchen Compost holder
Microwave
Cruets
Tea
Coffee
Biscuit barrel
Kettle
Toaster
Trays between toaster and wall

The deep windowsill houses dog prep and reward items, washing up liquid etc and flasks for dog walking.

More than I need to. I have an area I jokingly refer to as my pantry where all the items like toaster, Kenwood, soup and bread maker sit. After that, pots full of wooden spoons, knives etc that I use on a regular basis. By the sink I have the compost bin and hand soap. Near the hob I have the fire blanket and paper towels. Fortunately I have a lot of cupboards, full of stuff I rarely use, but that may come in handy sometime or that the daughters may want.

Callistemon. Was not suggesting yours or anyones was cluttered. We all like different things and all have different amounts of worktops available.

It's in the utility room.

Small one in the cupboard under kitchen sink, large one outside the kitchen door.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 05-Apr-24 18:00:17

Just noticed some posters are including their windowsills, on mine I have indoor growing herbs, an African Violet (a cutting from our mums plant, which all of her children and grandchildren have) and a cactus (Mother’s Day present years ago which hasn’t met its demise)

Joseann Fri 05-Apr-24 18:03:54

As little as possible.
Coffee machine
Microwave

Everything else - toaster, bread bin, air fryer - is in the large larder cupboards. DH placed a heat proof silvery shield on the under shelves where the heat rises.

Everything like fruit bowl, coffee pods pot, biscuit jar, butter dish etc. has to be hidden due to a certain four legged friend.
