Thanks for all the replies.
It stand to reason that those with longer worktops have more cupboard space below for storage, especially if you also have a utility room for white goods.
My kitchen cupboards/ worktops, including sink and hob, form three sides of a square.
My wall cupboards hold crockery, glassware, casserole dishes, and dry foods. My lower cupboards are bigger, containing pans and food ( tins and bottles) -and oddments. I think I could do a bit of swapping around to make better use of the lower big cupboards for my slow cooker, electric tin opener, food mixer, currently on the worktop, but I will ( after the decorator ) still leave out:
Fruit bowl
tray of drinks
bread board
radio
microwave
jugs of utensils
Knife block
tray of tea, coffee, biscuits
Mug tree
Kettle
air fryer
sink tidy
toaster
Notepad and pens.
Food waste bin
window sill has plants, tub for bottle tops (for Hospice)
Kitchen roll holder is on the wall
