But we will raise a glass to you, wherever and whenever you meet, won't we, Galen?

Penstemmon Fri 27-Jun-14 21:52:59

Oh I'd love a trip to Newcastle. haven't been for years! well probably since I spent a half term holiday with my friend whose dad was a dentist in Newcastle..Two Ball Lonnen?? Have I got that right? Probably 1961 grin

silverfish if I was a GN in the NE I might make sure the meet up was always on a weekday.. you have not made yourself sound very friendly!wink
I also work and look after grandchildren ..a lot on here do! But I would find weekend comittments equally tricky to juggle. If you really want to do something you can usually find a way!

Stans gran, Please note I have never insulted Panis or whatever its called as I have never been there and cannnot comment. I was commenting on it being city in the summer and would be hot and dusty. I said that I would prefer the countryside as I can go to the city any day. Please do not infer that I have made libellous remarks re Pennis.

Good heavens. I have only been gone for a year and Newcastle - a city I had grown to like very much - has apparently degenerated into a dusty hell hole where the only thing to eat is dried-up sandwiches and the beer is full of flies. It's a good thing glass et al that we stuck to bottles glasses of wine on our merry excursions.

harrigran Sat 28-Jun-14 01:25:39

I am afraid you would not enjoy a meet up Silverfish, all the ladies are way too pleasant, you would feel like a fish out of water.

janeainsworth Sat 28-Jun-14 07:42:04

Glad you're still with us Absent, we were beginning to worry about you!
We will miss you on 11th and raise our (many) glasses to you.

glass I would like to suggest that we stick to 11th, and the city centre, as it is convenient for a good number of us - you, me, gillybob, ayse, moomin, and gillieb (hope I haven't forgotten anyone), and silverfish could join us if she wanted to.
Then she could state another time/venue say in a few weeks time, convenient to herself and anyone who wanted to could join her then.

glassortwo Sat 28-Jun-14 10:32:40

I am happy to go with that jane but if anyone has any other suggestion for different date/venue please speak up. Hello absent you have been living up to your name again!!!
jane I am sure absent will be with us in spirit grin

silver if you would like another meet up arranged for a Saturday we can do that, not sure how many will be able to attend but there may be Gransnetters like yourself who cant do a mid week meet up.

ffinnochio Sat 28-Jun-14 10:54:54

France? grin

I might be able to make an October meet-up ..... or possibly one in Edinburgh.

glassortwo Sat 28-Jun-14 10:57:46

ffinn Would love a French meet up grin look forward to October if you can make it x

annodomini Sat 28-Jun-14 11:10:07

I know that as a NW gran, this is none of my business, but surely, Silverfish, this is all a big wind-up. Time to come clean.

Elegran Sat 28-Jun-14 11:14:57

ffinnochio I agree it is about time for another Edinburgh meetup. Any ideas for that from the NE people?

Elegran Sat 28-Jun-14 11:15:39

How about during the Festival?

Marmight Sat 28-Jun-14 11:57:31

Thinking of joining you in Newcastle on the 11th if that's ok? Possibly Marelli too. A meet up during the Ed Fest would be a very good idea. Beds available again chez moi if anyone wants to make the most of their visit so long as it's after 12 August!

glassortwo Sat 28-Jun-14 12:04:52

marmight it would be great if you and marelli could join us, elegran is trying to shuffle things to come too. smile

I would love to come up to Edinburgh but depends on dates as we have a week booked in July and Aug up at the house.

moomin Sat 28-Jun-14 12:42:46

It would be great Marmight, Marelli and Elegran if you could get down to the Newcastle meet-up!

I'd love to come to Edinburgh as well, depends on the dates if in August.
