Should we bomb De-ash/ISIS in Syria?

Blair took us into the Iraq war (to keep his American allies happy) and the Middle East was de-stabilised.
Its even more unstable and Cameron seems keen to send bombers there, presumably to keep his EU allies happy (given his negotiations...).
ISIS/DEA-SH thrive on chaos. They are a death cult aimed at hastening the end of the world. (Day of Judgement, Islam style).
Given the chaos in Syria and Iraq with all the different factions on the ground and Russia joining the throng in the air I cannot see why joining in would be either helpful or wise.
The poor civilians on the ground are now in fear of Assad, De-ash/ISIS and the bombs.
Cameron's arguments are thin.
Here are some more arguments on the other side voxpoliticalonline.com/2015/11/27/how-many-innocents-will-die-because-of-right-wing-labours-petulance/
Your MP will be heading back to their constituency to think about this over the weekend.
If you are against the bombing please, please write to your MP.
You can use this very easy site. You just type in your postcode and the site will ensure that your MP gets your email. They will be getting lots of emails on the subject so there is no need to be long-winded, so it's a 5 minute task. www.writetothem.com

Yes, the Tories had the whip, whitewave.

I would give you a link to the missiles to be used, roseq, but you'd only complain.
The only countries that have them are the UK and Saudi Arabia.

rq I'm not sure if Putin knows what compromise means. He's a seriously scary guy.

granjura Wed 02-Dec-15 23:05:50

Luckygirl, yes feel sick and sad, for DDs and GCs

durhamjen Wed 02-Dec-15 23:15:21

The anti war groups held a minute's silence outside parliament after the vote.

Russia wants IS defeated. What they mean is that Russia will not be helping to defeat IS as they have a different agenda (quelling all the rebels and giving power back to Assad.

DJ They have certainly given plenty warning to Daesh who will be off in their four tracks leaving innocent civilians to the bombers. I couldn't contain myself when DC was saying it was essential to bomb Raqqa to knock out Daesh's communications. I was shouting at the TV 'Have you never heard of lap tops?' Are we supposed to believe that Daesh have a big building called the command centre where all their senior personnel sit at one giant mainframe computer?

If DC and his buddies had repeated once more that there have been 7 failed terrorist attacks in Britain in recent months I would have been reduced to a screaming wreck. This is allegedly not a police state so - Where were the attacks planned to take place? When? How many Terrorists are in Custody? Have they been charged? When will they be tried? I am afraid I give as much credence to this 'needs to be top secret' assertion as I did to Tony Blairs WMD due to reach us in 30minutes.

As to the accusations of virtue signalling, I can only say that I am genuinely distraught and fear that this country has just made one of the biggest mistakes in its history. Are those who fling that label at 'other's' posts realise that they are admitting that the 'others' actually hold the moral high ground (but are only doing so in order to make themselves look good of course.)

I can see so much potential for trouble

whitewave Wed 02-Dec-15 23:21:45

Whisper "what's virtual Signalling"?blush

whitewave Wed 02-Dec-15 23:26:35

Oh! virtue signalling - whisper I still don't know what it means blushblush

durhamjen Wed 02-Dec-15 23:28:05

It's what we do all the time, whitewave, when we stick up for the poor and the homeless, and tell people we do.

whitewave Wed 02-Dec-15 23:29:42

Oh what are we supposed to do then?

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 23:31:46

whitewave ,it stopped raining tonight , my candle stayed lit.

Well vote went as expected. Now the mayhem starts , those who supported the bombing , MP's and public , wonder how many will spare a thought for the children we are going to kill in Syria ,perhaps as soon as tonight .

Whisper "what's virtual Signalling"?
There was a thread about it a while ago but I have instantly forgotten.
I tend to forget things that are not necessary these days (and a lot else too).

durhamjen Wed 02-Dec-15 23:34:04

Yes, Granny23, I have never understood why nobody has challenged him on that figure of seven failed terrorist attacks.

This morning when I took my granddaughter to school, there were two civil support officers outside the school, dressed in smart black uniforms with hats and holsters for their mobiles on their belts.
My grandson was convinced they had guns. Had a hard job convincing him that they did not have guns and were not allowed to carry guns just outside a school to stop drivers parking in the wrong places. They definitely looked more scary than traffic wardens.

whitewave Wed 02-Dec-15 23:34:39

Thought about you annie

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 02-Dec-15 23:35:06

whitewave I had to Google it and I think it means voicing a view that makes you seem like a nice person. I must now be the Queen of Virtue Signalling.

POGS Wed 02-Dec-15 23:36:00

Granny 23

Your post 23.17

Abid Naseer is one , or are you discounting him for some reason?

He was also wanted in America so he was sentenced there and jailed for 40 years last week.

He had planned a terror attack on the ARNDALE CENTRE MANCHESTER, fortunately he obviously failed.

durhamjen Wed 02-Dec-15 23:36:36

Welcome back, Annie. The anti-war group outside parliament joined you in thought and silence.
Agree with you about the rest.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 02-Dec-15 23:37:56

Never heard of Civil Support Officers dj. Are they like Neighbourhood Wardens or Community Support Officers? confused

durhamjen Wed 02-Dec-15 23:38:17

You sound very nice to me, Wilma.

whitewave Wed 02-Dec-15 23:38:25

Oh! Why can't we just take ea h other at face value- virtual of course.smile

It is so much more civilised and kindly.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 02-Dec-15 23:39:55

Thought about you with your candle AnnieBach

durhamjen Wed 02-Dec-15 23:40:17

Yes. I thought they were Community Support Officers, and I've seen a few of those, but these ones definitely had Civil on their shoulders.
Maybe it's just something in Durham.

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 23:40:21

Hi Jen, yes I heard when I left the vigil the anti war group in London were also doing the same as we did at the same time.

durhamjen Wed 02-Dec-15 23:41:13

Virtual signalling, whitewave?
