The one indisputable FACT in this referendum debate

Like many of us, I prefer to deal in facts, not surmise, assumptions, or what might be, or might not happen. The truth is that neither side have a clear idea of what leaving or remaining in the EU might entail, except for one clear fact.

This is, that if we remain, we will continue to have no control over numbers of immigrants from the EU, entering the country.

We all agree that immigration is a Good Thing, but uncontrollable immigration is another issue completely.

WW you have summed it up perfectly.

Ceesnan Wed 15-Jun-16 11:42:37

Gracesgran I think you are really over reacting to accuse Anya of making a personal attack, unless, of course, you were referring to something on another thread, and I've missed it completely? Can't see anything on here that hasn't been matched, if not bettered by yourself IMO. From your presence on the political threads you must surely be aware that "Play nicely" sometimes goes out of the window, and by your own admission you can give as good as you get.

I watched the add showing NHS in and out of EU, it would be laughable but there are people out there who will believe this rubbish

obieone Wed 15-Jun-16 12:13:28

I read somewhere that 25% of people who but exercise videos made by selebrities, thnik that by just doing to video, they will lose the same amount of weight as the celebrity.

So yes, some people will believe the NHS ad[I haven't seen it, and dont know who made it, but it can't be the government?]

GillT57, you could be right, or the neighbour right, or something else.

Heck!

There are out and out lies appearing on this thread. The simplest thing is to report these lies obieone. The mods are outside the argument and can take a more even-handed view than someone making such an accusation. Accusing someone of lying without saying what or whom does not seem right to me and perhaps that comment should be reported.

I did not "accuse Anya of making a personal attack" nor did I for one moment "admit" any such thing as you suggest. Nor do I believe I was over-reacting. I like to just get on with the discussion Ceesnan some people have other aims - it appears you feel it more important to take me to task than join in the thread.

Leave me with none of this nonsense to reply to and I will stop doing so.

Gracesgran Wed 15-Jun-16 13:19:42

trisher you are so right about a down-turn meaning fewer migrants. We actually need to prepare for difficulties as the economies pick up in the countries where most of our sources of willing labour are coming from rather than expect an endless supply for ever and ever.

As you say (my mother would toosmile) very much cutting of our noses to spite our faces.

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 13:21:38

I've asked the leavers what they think the UK will look like in a couple of years if we do indeed leave. No one seems to know.

Gracesgran Wed 15-Jun-16 13:24:36

Interesting post Gill. I usually think it is fear that makes people believe the lies newspapers tell, but this is someone making huge, and not doubt wrong, assumptions - why would they do that?

Of course the newspapers cannot be accused of lying as they will put it as a question. "Is this the laziest man in Britain?" of the will only put half the facts.

It is a very sad world we live in sometimes.

Gracesgran Wed 15-Jun-16 13:32:41

WW and Gill I have to agree with you about Pritti Patel. She is an awful person and certainly extremely right wing. She has a taste of possible power - heaven help us. I just hope she never, ever gets it. I wonder if we should expect a coup with all these alternative government announcements.

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 13:46:26

Have you seen her trooping around with Johnson? Talk about doe-eyed!

To be honest I think she is batting far above her weight. She will definitely be in the forefront if a vote of no confidence is pushed.

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 13:48:31

Is Thersa May still alive?

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 14:00:58

Ceesnan I'm completely baffled too. No, there is nothing on another thread. I've hardly even addressed GG though she does seem to have got out of bed the wrong side today and is hitting out at length and at everyone who doesn't agree with her hmm

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 14:03:01

PS I'm absolutely certain though if she thought there was a personal attack she'd have reported me by now.

Ceesnan Wed 15-Jun-16 14:16:05

Thanks, Anya, was beginning to think it was me being over imaginative! By the way Gracesgran, I didn't think it was more important, just equally so smile

Gracesgran Wed 15-Jun-16 14:18:49

Gracesgran Wed 15-Jun-16 13:12:48

I did not "accuse Anya of making a personal attack"

rosesarered Wed 15-Jun-16 14:28:18

GG your post about Anya was quite ridiculous. It actually made me laugh, so not all bad then.?
In fact, she was very restrained in only using the word 'tirade'.You do get yourself in a tizzy over nothing.

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 14:28:58

Ceesnan wink

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 14:34:09

Trying to untangle the thoughts behind that somewhat garbled post....please clarify what 'projection' are you talking about? confused

daphnedill Wed 15-Jun-16 15:37:08

My goodness! I see from this thread that playground bitchiness wasn't left behind in the playground. Not that I can mention any names.

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 15:50:07

That's exactly what I thought dd pigtails, navy knickers and gymslips spring to mind.

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 16:15:32

See the immigrants are having absolutely no effect on the unemployment figures whatsoever.

Unemployment at the lowest since halfway through the Labour term of office.

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 16:18:58

Oh here we go again. Try to be more original Daphne dear.

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 16:21:40

?

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 16:26:27

All those back in work due to benefit changes?
