Traingate

The silliest thing about the Corbyn "Traingate" fiasco is that before the railways were privatised, I often had to sit on the floor toing and froing between Preston and Edinburgh. Sometimes there was no buffet car. And the toilets were often disgusting.

I guess Corbyn didn't travel by train much back then hmm

However, the trains I travelled on usually had more space for luggage than current Virgin trains.

Admittedly though, I have not been to an actual meeting. Perhaps you have?

Obieone doesn't put people into class, creed or colour, you know very well she was speaking of momentum groupies, how nasty you can be Grscesgrsn, to post such an attack

Pollengran Thu 25-Aug-16 16:30:09

Well who is them??? All this Momentum talk, labelling anyone who supports Corbyn as being them, or a groupie is just insulting.

I am probably older than you Anniebach, and I am offended by the idea that asking who "them" is offends you and is considered an attack.

voxpoliticalonline.com/2016/08/25/an-email-to-the-labour-party-about-owen-smith/

Does anyone think this will work?
It's because of the number of members whose membership will not be allowed because they have used words like Blairite on social media. They are being sent letters now, like the following:

durhamjen Thu 25-Aug-16 16:35:15

Annie, you are the one who says everyone who supports Corbyn is a Momentum groupie, or a trot.
Why did you mention communism with regard to India?
You know very well that India is not communist, and neither is Corbyn, but you are playing word association games.
Obie doesn't like word games.

Anniebach Thu 25-Aug-16 16:43:03

Pollegrsn, nightowl referred to Momentum then referred to them. . Obieone replied to nightowl and So continued the the use of them, why the need for her to refer to momentum again.

nigglynellie Thu 25-Aug-16 16:57:21

FGS it's perfectly obvious what obieone meant, and to suggest anything else is absurd! About as silly as the train stunt!
ab was asking if India had communists within its population that JC could feel at home amongst!! Again a perfectly obvious comment!! Of course we all know India isn't a communist country and no one was suggesting otherwise!!!

durhamjen Thu 25-Aug-16 17:00:46

Corbyn is not a communist, as Annie well knows, and so should you.
Yet another slur on Corbyn.

obieone Thu 25-Aug-16 17:04:25

Thanks Anniebach and nigglynellie.
I cant even be bothered to add anymore to what has been said.

Anniebach Thu 25-Aug-16 17:05:56

Thank you niggle, Obieone didn't deserve that put down

Anyway back to Corbyn and trains. It has been tweeted that Corbyn is on a virgin train to Glasgow and Corbyn has a seat and Corbyn is happy that he Corbyn has a seat , this should cheer up corbyn supporters to know Corbyn isn't sitting on the floor

obieone Thu 25-Aug-16 17:07:15

It is time for the posters concerned. Actually still cant be bothered to write some more!

Pollengran Thu 25-Aug-16 17:08:16

According to Anniebach, whatever our age, we have no knowledge of politics (11.38), if we support Corbyn so it does seem quite pointless to continue.

Anniebach Thu 25-Aug-16 17:19:27

Pollengran, you do have a problem with quoting what has been said. If you read the posts and take PM in what has been said you would have seen my referring to not knowing about politics was in reference to youngsters ,

rosesarered Thu 25-Aug-16 17:20:11

Why doesn't everyone just say ' yes, it was a PR stunt highlighting overcrowding on trains' then this wouldn't run and run, but no, they, including Corbyn have to lie about events and it's THIS that sticks in the craw, not the event.
So all the Corbyn supporters on here, why defend the man, he has stupidly played along with a Momentum led stunt, and it has backfired, the whole country is laughing at him.
When Parliament starts again in September, Theresa May could ( as Petra suggests)
Ask Corbyn if his seat in the house is reserved, or, ask if he would be more comfortable sitting on the floor of the House.grin

Anniebach Thu 25-Aug-16 17:29:29

The tories will not let traingate pass without comment / joke

Ana Thu 25-Aug-16 17:36:45

Of course not! Just as Labour couldn't resist poking fun at Cameron during Pig-gate. It's what they do...

Beammeupscottie Thu 25-Aug-16 17:45:40

I don't think I have ever come across such a divisive politician. All this from a supposed Peace advocate.
He is letting stubborn principles ruin the Labour party. I wish he could see that stubbornness is not strength but the last resort of a weak man.

thatbags Thu 25-Aug-16 17:58:07

Does India get its knickers in a twist about overcrowded trains?

www.google.co.uk/search?q=crowded+trains+in+india&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari#imgrc=3M9hblFiWHW1tM%3A

It wouldn't surprise me if that pic was a stunt too, though I know clinging onto the outside of vehicles happens a lot in India SE Asia. I've done it myself on the back step of a pickup in Thailand.

For those who appear not to inderstand the reference to Corbyn and being happy on a train in India, this is what it was about. Nothing to get in a tizwaz about as if it were insulting.

thatbags Thu 25-Aug-16 17:58:49

India and SE Asia

The link is to a pic, btw.

Anniebach Thu 25-Aug-16 18:08:23

Good grief thatbags, I know trains are overcrowded but that is terrifying

Iam64 Thu 25-Aug-16 18:48:43

I know this is the train gate thread But - I've heard on the evening news that the Labour Party conference is at risk. The leadership wouldn't use G4S, their usual security provider because the company works in prisons in Israel. Their alternative provider evidently doesn't allow unions (I may have that slightly wrong as the phone rang mid media report) I heard the GMB union is so cross about that, it's saying it may boycott the conference.
I do apologise if I'm posting incorrect information, I should have googled. I'm very happy to be corrected on this by someone who can actually listen to the news without interruptions.

Gracesgran Thu 25-Aug-16 18:56:14

I see someone reported my post and it has been deleted. Just because some posters don't like the prejudice in their posts being pointed out it doesn't make them less so.

petra Thu 25-Aug-16 19:13:28

Iam64 That's exactly as I read it. What a farce! Piss up in a brewery springs to mind.

Jalima Thu 25-Aug-16 19:13:37

what use is Corbyn saying his ambitions could take ten years , people don't know how to get through next week, all this jam in ten years time promise is just fooling people
anniebach no worries, Corbyn is busy jam-making, too busy to speak to the media apparently.

rosesarered grin are you TM's speech writer?

gg I didn't see your deleted post but I can't see any post that contains any prejudice.
Perhaps GN themselves saw it and deleted it?

Some trains in this country are very overcrowded, particularly on the commuter routes - not to the extent of the Indian ones shock and Southern Trains in particular are overcrowded. Have the strikes by Southern railway guards been because they have been concerned about the safety or comfort of passengers?
No, it's about the role of 'conductors'!!
In the meantime, those who called the strike were sunning themselves and blatantly giving the finger to commuters who could not get to work because of the strikes.
Is Jeremy worried about that?
No.
And picks a pretty poor example to try to make a point.
Someone called him 'stupid' on another thread, he seems to be doing his best to confirm that view.

There is something subversive going on and who is behind it?
