WW after a day at work I ca respond to yours to me from earlier. I'm sure you will be glad to move on from this other stuff! My concern as always is that Labour will truly ruinous financially and after that all good intentions will be truly meaningless, and goodness knows what sort of govt. will follow that. Nor do I really agree with your thoughts on a new Tory govt.

fitz I think before any judgement is made we need to look at the costed manifesto with regard to Labour.

As far as the next Tory government, I've just come off the phone from my son who has been out of the country and we were discussing the possible Tory landslide. We are a family, who on paper are natural Tory supporters, we are what would be described as firmly Middle class , all earning considerably more than the average salary.,and we were discussing the reason that we will always vote for a left of centre political party. It boils down we decided to ethics. We prefer to live a society that is civilised by recognising that there will always be those who are underprivileged or in low paid work who should be entitled to the same education, health free at the point of use and opportunity as everyone else. A society where everyone has a stake by paying the correct amount of tax. And where privilege neither buys you a job nor a better education. Fairness should be the key motto. Nothing this government nor any Tory government does provides those qualities.

WW I wouldn't argue with anything you say, other than the implication that a left of centre party is the most likely to provide those things. It depends on a lot of things other than a list of expensive promises. The obvious example would be Venezuela, a govt. which Corbyn praised greatly. I'm not saying he would repeat that praise now but a red in tooth and claw socialist govt. can truly result in disaster. My concern is that, while Corbyn is no Madura, he is too close in policies for my liking. But as you say, let's wait for the detail.

whitewave you are not the only voter who has a strong belief in fairness and equal opportunities and yet is prepared to admit to being middle class. People like us are denigrated by the right wing gutter press as being "champagne socialists".

I am not a socialist. I am a Liberal Democrat but I think we share many of the same values. Although it is only a rare treat, I do quite like a glass of champagne (we had some for our golden wedding party) and I'm not going to apologise for that

I am a social democrat * varian* so can live with any party that is willing to live by those ideals.

Did any of you watch Prime Ministers Questions yesterday, Theresa May wiped the floor with Corbyn no comparison between the two and Tim Farron and his sidekick Sarah Olney looked crestfallen after she had finished with him.

She's certainly got that sneer mastered. Not a good look.

She's been told to pepper her speeches with the word 'strong' so that it will be absorbed subliminally. It was used by her 38 times according to the BBC news during QT.
