Statement of intent not the manifesto

1. Reverse the cut in corporation tax saving £64bn over the parliamentary cycle
2£10 minimum wage for all over 18s
3. 17% rise in unpaid farmers allowance (exrea £500 pa) - paid by reversing the Inheritance Tax cut.
4. Renationalise railways as the franchises lapse
5. Stop NHS private contracts. Phase out existing private contracts thus saving 3.5bn - 5bn at present going as profit to the private health companies
6. Build 200k homes a year. Half from the private sector and half council homes by giving LAs the power to borrow against assets. This should ensure that 12bn housing benefit bill at present going into private landlords pockets should gradually fall.
7. 4 new public holidays
8. End zero- hours jobs by guaranteeing a contract for all workers on regular hours.
9 Ban any company from tendering for government contracts if they are based in an off shore tax haven and pay their CEO more tha £350k pa
10 stop the opening of new free schools and grammars
11 Stop sweetheart deLs between HMRC and bug corps. All large companies should publish their tax returns
12 Eradicate gender pay gap
13 cut business rates by £1.5bn
14 End the practice by large corps, of taking longer than the accepted 28 days to pay SMEs

Actually, Should I vote Labour ?
is inviting posters to ponder over whether they should or should not vote Labour, it is not inviting them to tell other people how they should vote

Q. Should I vote Labour?
A. You should/ should not vote Labour because.....
The question is not being answered in the correct form.

durhamjen Sun 30-Apr-17 23:37:45

Should I have another glass of wine, Jalima?

Jalima1108 Sun 30-Apr-17 23:39:28

wine
Only half a glass left in the bottle tonight so that is all I had

durhamjen Sun 30-Apr-17 23:41:53

Should you have answered that, or should you have just left me to ponder?
I'll have to have a gin instead.

Jalima1108 Sun 30-Apr-17 23:45:13

I can't answer that question really, it's your decision - will you have a hangover in the morning if you do? Decisions, decisions.

Now, pondering over whether this is a virtual gin and whatever I am offering you or if you are having a real one hmm

moon
something to think about, oh dear, worrying now

Jalima1108 Sun 30-Apr-17 23:46:00

and I have mislaid my postal vote for the local elections
more worries

durhamjen Sun 30-Apr-17 23:51:03

Time for a tidy up, Jalima. You've got until Thursday to find it.
I might have a hangover in the morning. Haven't had one for years.
However it is a bank holiday, and all I have to do is pick up my granddaughter if she doesn't want to ride too far on her bike in the afternoon, so that's okay.
All morning to recover.

Anniebach Oh sorry I've just realised you said less than £400 per week, not month. It was a genuine misunderstanding and I don't think it warranted your rude reply.

I assume the people who are struggling have expenses that perhaps you don't have - commuting costs, children's clothes and equipment, childcare, etc. And, depending on where they live, their rent/mortgage might be higher than yours.

My mum was a nurse. My dad was a bus driver. When I went to high school they had to apply for clothing grants for me for the uniform. I had free school meals anyway.
I find it quite sad that things have not progressed that much in over 50 years.

No! Why waste a vote. Corbyn & hid cronies will turn the Uk into a shabby, tin pot state where anyone who wants to make something of their lives will be penalised. Most of the labour govt are champagne socialists...with an attitude 'dont do as I do do as I say' look at Blair...a multi millionaire, Brandon who supports them, that Gina woman too! All hypocritical, neo liberals who would rule and squeeze the potential out of us all.

"to date" doesn't mean the same as "in the past". The latter phrase can mean any time in the past but doesn't necessarily include the recent past. "To date" includes the recent past.

To hear people on here you would think that the only job worth having and that qualifies a person to have a political opinion is one in academia, teaching in particular! It might surprise those of you who hold this opinion that there are other forms of employment that do require a modicum of brain power and that a lot of people employed outside academia can actually read and write, think for themselves and come to decisions reasonably efficiently!!
As for a young couple living in London! FGS, if Jalima says they can, then they can! Why argue with her? Why is it that certain people always know better, even when someone else actually has information first hand? Oh of course, you were teachers, which qualifies you to know better on ALL subjects regardless!

Eloethan Mon 01-May-17 07:57:31

nigglynellie Who exactly is that aimed at?

petra Mon 01-May-17 08:12:08

Nigglynellie
Oh how true wink

Have you ever heard the saying: If you can't do it, teach it. If you can't teach it, lecture on it.

All personal attack, quotes from the gutter press and no facts yet again. I am still waiting to hear some facts!!!

"To hear people on here you would think that the only job worth having and that qualifies a person to have a political opinion is one in academia, teaching in particular!"

Please show me where this has been said Niggly. Obviously those who actually are teachers have a right to put their view but where has anyone said others may not. I was not a teacher and I am very happy to add my two-penneth.

I'm sure many of us know what the shadow cabinet think of 'us'
Have you forgotten Emily Thornberry sneering at white van man and his flag of St George.
And let's not forget Diane Abbott sends her son to a private school while ranting against Grammer schools. She's not the only one but I'm sure you get my drift.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 01-May-17 08:47:42

I have no idea what you are talking about petrashock Where did the bit about the Shadow Cabinet come from?

Anniebach Mon 01-May-17 08:48:10

Emily Thornbury sent her children to private school, when asked about this in a tv interview she said - I want the best for my children and for all children.

I am waiting to hear private education for all in Corbyn' manifesto

mcem Mon 01-May-17 09:08:22

It's good to know that those entrusted with the education and care of your DGCs are so respected.
Good to know that many years of damn hard work is appreciated.
Good to know that all the personal cash invested to bring not only the extras but often the basics into the classroom is acknowledged.
Yet another unpleasant, bad-tempered and niggly post.

So not something I said then.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 01-May-17 09:16:04

Ah. I have looked. It was the right-wing rant I quoted. Just so you know I rarely take any notice of what they say but write them of a "just another right-wing rant" so having read it that is all I remember. It helps me form my opinion of those who would vote Conservative though smile
