Anyone got any information we can put onto this thread please?

Has she actually had a spontaneous encounter with any member of the public yet, during this campaign? By that I mean someone who is not a Tory party member or supporter.
They are running a very simple campaign. But is it going to pay off?
Only Theresa May is getting any publicity or exposure. Her image is being carefully stage managed and controlled. She keeps repeating the same thing "strong and stable". There is minimal talk of policies - she keeps playing the Brexit (hard version) card, which is of course the immigration card in fancy wrapping paper. Her only other strategy is to pretend she cares about ordinary people, which she patently doesn't. Because if she did, she would not have been a complacent member of a government that has systematically taken from the poor to give to the rich over the last 7 years. Taken from the poorest and most vulnerable - mothers, disabled people and older people with not much money who are no longer allowed a spare bedroom if they are tenants.
Their real campaign is being run by their friends in the press, who are concentrating, as usual, on attacking Corbyn and painting him as the Marxist Monster.
The Tory party aka "Theresa's team" as they are now known, hope that if they keep a low profile and give Labour enough rope, then they (the tories) will get a landslide. And that the landslide will allow them to damage the NHS and state education irreparably, while helping the richest people in the land to continue to prosper. As they have done, while mothers and fathers go hungry to feed their children.

Seems like the choice is to either vote conservative or chaos, & I don't think we need any more chaos

That comment is COMPLETELY PERVERSE nonose. If you had said the choice is to vote for CONSERVATIVES AND CHAOS or for any other party, yesterday's and today's happenings would have certainly have backed your argument. What you say, as is shown in Jen subsequent post, is simply prejudice - until, of course, you back your argument in some way other than your opinion.

MRS MAYHEM really has struck again. Poor, poor people working against the odds given them by this government in the NHS.

Today is the day the Cons launch their digital strategyhmm

durhamjen Sat 13-May-17 09:24:10

I wonder if that cyber attack yesterday was supposed to attack something else as well as the NHS.

MaizieD Sat 13-May-17 09:48:19

What did you have in mind, dj?

durhamjen Sat 13-May-17 10:45:02

I wonder if it was intended to attack all government computer systems, not just the NHS ones. DWP haven't sorted out their new systems properly yet, which is why there are so few on the universal credit. Maybe that's a good thing.
If so, it shows the NHS ones are the most vulnerable.

Here's a reason not to vote for Maybot.

Quite a good editorial in the Guardian today.

"An election called ostensibly to strengthen (Mays) hand, when negotiating Britains e it from the EU, has yet to deliver any insight whatsoever into Mays thinking on the subject"
"Mays comfortable lead in the polls should afford the opportunity to secure a mandate for her personal vision of the nation's post-EU future. That she prefers to keep that vision obscure suggests that it is yet unformed.
" The nation is being asked to put its trust in a Team Theresa because a Team Tory is not, by old repute a very inclusive proposition.
"May is the popular choice when standing against Corbyn, but that will not remain the context forever. If she is returned to No 10, she will be judged by her actions, not by her capacity to be more plausible than a theoretical alternative. Then her failure to have spelled out in advance what another 5 years of Tory government involve, especially the potential turbulence caused by Brexit, will haunt her"

"The proposition that everything will be fine if the people put their trust in the hands of one leader has been false and dangerous throughout history.
It is at odds with a parliamentary system whose lifeblood principles have always been challenge and scrutiny"

I've posted this on the Scum thread but I think it belongs here, too.

This has made me cross!

NHS cyber-attack: Amber Rudd says lessons must be learnt

The NHS "must learn" from Friday's cyber-attack and upgrade its IT systems, the home secretary has said.

How can they? They've got no money!

Don't we just love the caring conservatives...

MaizieD Sat 13-May-17 11:20:11

This sort of attitude is what I have seen from the Conservatives all my life.

It is why I would never, in a million years, consider voting for them angry

GracesGranMK2 Sat 13-May-17 11:35:34

I think you meant THEY'VE GOT NO MONEY Maizie. I saw Amber Rudd's interview - they just don't care about anything but power do they?

Not ahead in the polls though, is he?

durhamjen Sat 13-May-17 14:55:10

Agreed, Gracesgran.
I wish groups like www.weownit.org.uk would become a bit more vociferous about what's happening over privatisation.

durhamjen Sat 13-May-17 15:01:05

These are the candidates who were investigated.
They were not found innocent.

Most impressed with Varians analyse of Whitewaves list which is very similar to the list available from Conservative Party HQ.

Comparisons rather highlighted a whitewashing of the originals.

What is worrying about this election is the dictatorial approach to Brexit, Britain went to war to prevent dictatorships & creat unity across Europe, for which we paid a high cost in human lives. Now we seem to being asked to reject those fantastic ideals and accept the very opposite of what my Father and an older brother gave their lives for in the 40's.

I want a strong say in Brexit and what it will mean. It now seems the electorate is being denied what we voted for in favour of prejudices & political ideology of extreme right wing members of the Conservative Party and UKIP.

Ana Sat 13-May-17 15:54:07

Here we go again with the 'extreme right wing' rubbish. I presume you'll be denying that the LP is now 'extreme left wing', James?

durhamjen Sat 13-May-17 15:55:11

This is how safe the economy is in Tory hands - although the word is she'll get rid of Hammond if they win.

Safer than it would be in Jezza and McDonnells' hands, that's for sure!

whitewave Sat 13-May-17 16:01:40

james many will agree with your last post. My Mum who is still alive can remember why Germany and France got together in the first place. But that aside what s decided in the next two years will affect this country for gen erations to come. It would be an outrage if it was done without the populations approval. Our democracy is built on parliamentary debate, not a dictatorship of a small clique.

MaizieD Sat 13-May-17 16:04:56

It's not 'for sure' Ana. Labour plans are perfectly sound. Not my opinion, the opinion of experts. As is the opinion that tory's austerity l

The reports I've read about LP's costings are not good - in fact way off. I suppose it depends what you read.

A link to them would be useful, Ana
