How much will a flight cost after Brexit?

Do people really not understand it doesn't matter how much the people in business want to proceed, it doesn't matter how much they want to trade/fly/deal/or anything else with the EU if there isn't a deal signed they won't be doing it. Because we aren't part of the EU any more, because that's what people voted for.

D Davis and his two assistance have gone into the meeting with Barnier plus two today with no paperwork between them - Barnier and his assistants have a pile of papers each.

Perhaps they need to modernise and get an iPad.
It's not good for the environment.

I suspect that a good case could be made for iPads not being good for the environment, either.

At least paper is made from renewable resources and won't become obsolete or unreadable (think all those old, unreadable floppy discs and the old computers full of toxic heavy metals which are still littering the environment)

To those of you who doubt all flights could come to a dead halt, I would just mention what happened in 2010 when the volcano erupted in Iceland. The ash cloud caused the highest disruption to air travel since WW2.

Large parts of European airspace was closed to air traffic for more than a month (6 days of continuous closure), but many more countries were affected as flights to, from and over Europe were cancelled. Passengers were stranded all over the world. 107,000 flights were cancelled over 8 days at one point. Billions were lost to the airline industry alone and as a poster has correctly said, this is really more about trade than personal use.

Swap the ash plume for the loss of air routes because of Brexit and potentially you have a similar scenario. It might be scaremongering, but it is yet another thing that needs thrashing out before March 2019, which is presumably why the air travel industry is meeting now to prepare for a number of scenarios. The amount of work involved in Brexit is unprecedented and March 2019 will be here before we know it.

The problem of flights is a serious problem, but only one of the thousands of ghastly problems which would have to be solved if we actually left thd EU.

I think it's time we called a halt to this madness. Let's have an amnesty for the well meaning folk who voted for the lunacy that is brexit. They were fooled by the lies. No recriminiations. Just stop the madness, realise what a good deal we have as EU members and move on.

Interesting that Jeremy's background is wealth and privilege, childhood home a manor house and Davis's background is son of single mother, council house, grandson of a communist.

Define wealth and privilege. He went to a state funded selective grammar school and the house his father bought recently sold for about £850k. His father earned his living as an electrical engineer. Yes, a better start than DD but if you want to call that wealth and privilege, how do you describe BJ, DC etc? And being well educated doesn't mean you're not stupid as some posters on GN prove nor does not being well educated mean you're not bright as again some other posters on GN prove

Corbyn's mum was a teacher, his dad was an engineer. Yes they had a house in the country but not wealth and privilege- just hard working parents!
Interestingly enough one paper gives Davis's degree as molecular science. not computers DD's GF was one of Jarrow marchers , his step dad was a shop steward.

Yes, Mrs C came from a very wealthy family. Mr C's father was a solicitor.

And to most of us, living in a 7 bedroomed manor house would be considered privileged.
Or perhaps some Gransnetters think that is normal.

Her father was a successful surveyor and apparently a snob who disapproved of her romance with the far less wealthy David.

I just find it very interesting seeing how the boy born to privilege becomes the rebellious Labour leader and the boy born in deprivation becomes a well-educated Tory minister.

There are many many examples throughout the years of people born into wealthy/comfortable backgrounds promoting radical social change and vice versa. Why is it intriguing? But I still don't count JC's background as wealthy and privileged. That's nonsense - do those of you on GN with houses worth about £850k think your children are wealthy and privileged?

Corbyns parents were obviously strongly committed to the socialist cause , hence the Spanish Civil War. They were both peace campaigners as well. Obviously Corbyn followed their ideals.
You could say though that DD abandoned his family and their beliefs. So he may be a well -educated Tory MP but many would say he betrayed his family and his roots.

I find it interesting that Corbyn's mother being very wealthy is not regarded as nearly so heinous a crime as Rees-Mogg's mother-in-law being very wealthy.
