I thought I would start this thread to enable those who are enthusiastic Brexiters, to educate us Europhiles and show that our worries are silly and uniformed.
We hear so little from you, except to criticise our worries.
We have so many threads about the negative effects why not have one which shows the positive effects that leaving the EU will come about?
inews.co.uk/essentials/news/politics/ten-rulings-european-court-justice-affected-everyday-life/
This is some of the law that we could lose out on if we leave the juristiction of the ECJ.
Half of them the government wants us to forgo.
A bit more confusion for brexiteers. A red line just changed colour.
inews.co.uk/essentials/news/politics/theresa-may-forced-step-back-european-court-red-line/
Yes - just as everyone has been telling the Brexiters all along and which they continue to vehemently reject.
The government has recognised the necessity of having some alignment with the ECJ in order to continue any form of trading with the EU.
A court by any other name will act as an ECJ court
I read a report about the EIB funding a few days ago - think I mentioned it on a thread here - they say they cannot lend on agreements which will run past the date of the actual Brexit - covers all sorts of infrastructure projects such as Crossrail and big road schemes.
Found this from the FT and going viral on Twitter etc.
Remainer: (left holding the Brexit Baby after the leavers ....left) "WTF?"
Leavers: we voted Brexit, now you Remainers need to implement if.
Remainers: but it is not possible
Leavers : the people have spoken. Therefore it is possible. You have just to think positively.
Remainers: and do what exactly?
Leavers: come up with a plan that will leave us better off outside the EU than in it.
Remainers: but it is not possible
Leavers: quit with the negative vibes. The people have spoken
Remainers : bur even you don't know how
Leavers: that's your problem, we've done our bit and voted and we are going to sit here and eat popcorn and watch as you do it.
Remainers: shouldn't you do it?
Leavers : it's not up to us to work out the details. It up to you experts.
Remainers: I thought you'd had enough of experts
Leavers: remain experts
Remainers: there are no leave experts
Leavers : then you'll have to do it then. Oh!, by the way no dragging your feet or complaining about it because if you do a deal that we don't want we'll eat you alive.
Remainers: but you don't know what you want
Leavers: we want massive economic growth, no migration, free trade with the EU and every other country, on our terms , the revival of British industry, re-open the coal mines - tea and vicars on every village green, some bunting and maybe restoration of the Empire.
Remainers: you are delusional
Leavers: we are the delusional majority!! DEMOCRACY!! so do that thing that isn't possible very quickly, and give all leavers what they want, and ignore the 16million other voters who disagree. They are tight trousered latte-sipping hipsters who whin all the time. Who cares.
Home Office hid study warning of terror and crime risks after Brexit

I know that this thread has become an echo chamber but I'll post this anyway.
Here is Prof. Simon Wren-Lewis on the LSE Brexit blog:
It is an awkward truth that what many people wanted when the voted Leave is either simply impossible, or cannot happen without making everyone significantly poorer year after year. It is this reality that keeps the government in a fantasy world. Almost no one who voted to Leave is going to be happy with the result of government decisions. Those who wanted better access to public services will not get it. Those who wanted more sovereignty will find their sovereignty sold off cheap in a desperate attempt to get new trade deals. Those who wanted less immigration will also find their wishes largely frustrated because the UK cannot afford to reduce immigration.
The parallels with the US are clear. The Republicans, after spending years denouncing Obamacare, found they could not produce anything better. Those promoting Leave also did so without any thought to how it might actually happen, and therefore they have nowhere to go when confronted with reality. As a result, the government invents a magical customs union so that Liam Fox can have something to do. I have never known a UK government look so pathetic.

(Hurrah! We've got our italics back
)
The ECJ is almost entirely used for arbitration and ruling on things like VAT disputes, trading disputes etc. Businesses and governments continually appeal to the ECJ for jusdgement.
If we continue to trade with the EU and of course we will, how will it work if we reject the ECJ?
The law which it administers is entirely and only based on those laws agreed by our governments since 1973. What on earth is the problem?!
Don't worry about this being an echo chamber Maizie - it is still an excellent article and one I will copy and put on an almost completely pro-leave old people's forum, so well worth posting.
It's also true
I absolutely concur with gg
That is an excellent and intelligent article.
MaizieD - excellent and concise quote. I have yet to find a reason for voting Brexit. Yes a small majority did vote that way. But WHY??. Leave campaign told so many lies and did not expect to win. The government should be prepared to consider admitting that the referendum was a ghastly error and stop Brexit. May be a second referendum to placate the Tory Right and the dregs of UKIP but if they do give the public the full facts and NO MORE LIES.
There is an ante Brexit march in London 9th September 11:00am with coaches from various regional points.
Also the Tory Conference in Manchester has a protest scheduled for 1st October.
I am going to a local meeting tomorrow to meet other mal contents. In the meantime write to your MP/MEP and keep spreading the word.
BBC website just now

The incompetence seems to be spreading!
Pleased to hear that May has finally understood what the ECJ actually does. As Sky reported May said that she sees the ECJ as "the final arbiter" for British courts in the event of a trade dispute after Brexit.
Er, yes. Isn't that what happens now?
Well GracesGran MK2 I did as you suggested and posted the text on Buzz50 (Serious Discussion) asking for some constructive pro Brexit opinion. I got these comments:
*Another attempt at re-running the referendum. It's over, you lost.
You do believe in democracy don't you?
Not Brexit again......we had our say and voted OUT......get over it.*
Not the type of replies I was hoping for - but I suppose only to be expected from Brexiteers unwilling or unable to justify themselves.
I got much the same Cindersdad, plus an accusation of being predictable! I am; I admit it. At least we offered another point of view.
Listening to PM on the car radio today the item on the ECJ started with a couple of examples of ECJ rulings.
1) That the ECJ had ruled that workers for whom overtime is their normal way of working should have that overtime included in their holiday pay
2) The ECJ ruled that it was discriminatory for bus passes to be given to women at 60 and men at 65, so now men can get them at age 60, too.
I can't see that the run of the mill individual can have any complaint about these dastardly rulings which actually work to their advantage!
Of course, as the presenter pointed out, they may have been inconvenient to the government of the day...
One of the guests also noted that when he asked people which ECJ rulings had adversely affected them they couldn't actually think of any ECJ rulings, let alone any adverse ones...
There is, of course, a very strong suspicion around that May has got her ECJs and ECHRs mixed up.. the latter has, as we know, nothing to do with the EU but has frustrated her on more than one occasion
(Glad you liked my link; I thought it was well written and to the point)
Did you have a nice time Cindersdad?
cindersdad
Your right. I've just had a look and your posts didn't go down well, did they.
Oh no! For those who are worried about closer trade links with America and suspect chicken washed in chlorine and think that the EU rules ensure our food is well regulated, please check this out about sausages made from meat sourced in the EU, to which a friend has just alerted me:
www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/tesco-supermarket-x-pig-virus-hep-e_uk_599c3faee4b06a788a2bda4d
Hepatitis E is transmitted by sausages and pork products from Europe, mainly Holland and Germany, the Sunday Times reported.

Well, thank goodness I patronise a local butchers which gets their meat from local farmers. [smug]
Gosh, yes.
Cheese for me tomorrow I think
