It is not given to me to start a threads on politics, I don't believe I have ever contributed to one either.
However I cannot let pass the comment from a conservative councillor currently skiing in the USA who wants the homeless and rough sleepers cleared from the streets of
Windsor before the wedding in May.
God forbid that visitors here to see an obscene and ostentatious picture of wealth and privelage should be confronted by the "have nots" of our society.

petra Where did you see that?

Not all people on the streets are out of work and on drugs.

Nearly 61,000 people have signed this petition now.

And not all on the streets are honest. I acknowledge some homeless are genuine some are not, just as some on benefits are cheats some are not,

Using these people to try to score political points is so wrong , in my opinion.

durhamjen Sun 07-Jan-18 21:10:28

Using people on the streets to score political points is wrong, I agree. So why do you keep doing it?

Very few on benefits are cheats. Far more money is lost to the government through tax fraud, but I don't expect you to recognise that any more.
Two years ago you would have done.

Anniebach Sun 07-Jan-18 21:47:53

Wrong again, I have not changed my views on tax fraud but .Jen you are excusing benefit cheats on the grounds that more is lost by tax fraud, both are wrong, I try to keep a balanced view, you do not . You have gone so far left you have no balance , all homeless are victims? Not true, all people of wealth come by their money through devious means, not true . You will not admit all homeless are not victims. Your first reaction after Grenfel fire was a repeat of Corbyn, take the empty houses off the legal owners, no thought to cost in legal fees, no thought that a luxury home would cost much to turn into accomodation for several families, you seem to have developed hatred and this stops you from having a calm discussion on any topic .

You are not a one man band when it comes to caring about the vunerable in society, many here do.

durhamjen Sun 07-Jan-18 22:07:40

Wrong again, Annie, but you have gone so far to the right it's not worth discussing anything with you these days.

Anniebach Sun 07-Jan-18 22:17:06

No Jen, I am as I have always been , left of centre, you don't care the party is being destroyed , I do . If my posts seem more balanced than two years ago it is because the party is being taken to the far left, I want the victory we had in 1993 which kept the party on power for three elections I do not want a government run by unions and militants, I do not want to lose the likes of Hilary Benn, Angela Eagle, Ben Bradshaw , Yvette Cooper , I want more like them but Momentum already have then on their hit list .

"Corbyn is a good man, honest and caring. Sadly lacking in so many politicians."

Bridgeit Mon 08-Jan-18 20:48:32

Not above misleading young voters though !

Anniebach Mon 08-Jan-18 21:41:54

Corbyn is a hypocrite

durhamjen Mon 08-Jan-18 22:16:15

Actually, the quote was from Annie.

Anniebach Mon 08-Jan-18 22:19:24

Just proves how hypocritical he is and his word cannot be trusted, I trusted him and he betrayed me and many, many more members

durhamjen Mon 08-Jan-18 22:22:43

Sadder and sadder, Annie.
Should we trust anyone who says Corbyn was an honest, caring man, then changes his/her mind a year later?

eazybee Tue 09-Jan-18 08:08:01

Yes, because they have the ability to acknowledge mistakes and admit they were misguided.

durhamjen Tue 09-Jan-18 08:45:51

But Corbyn isn't allowed to change his mind, or if he does he's called a hypocrite. So who's the hypocrite?

Anniebach Tue 09-Jan-18 08:57:39

Jen, do try to stop personal, attacks , we are discussing the hypocrisy of .Corbyn .

Jaycee5 Tue 09-Jan-18 13:02:23

I agree Durhamjen.
Anniebach The topic is actually the Royal wedding and a Tory councillors attitude to the homeless. Jen has not been rude to you but your comments to her certainly were. You really cannot seriously consider your views on the homeless (or most things relating to poor people) to be left of centre. You are not very tolerant of people who have different views to yourself.

Anniebach Tue 09-Jan-18 13:45:36

No comment grin

Jalima1108 Tue 09-Jan-18 13:57:19

Jen has not been rude to you
hmm

Anniebach Tue 09-Jan-18 14:55:57

So it seems Jalima , so it seems - to some

Just heard on PM on radio 4 from the man who wrote to the police ( about the wedding) he says it was never about homeless people ( there are only a few, it’s not like Manchester) but about the people who come into Windsor to beg and then go home again at the end of the day.
Because of the wedding, there will be more tourists around with money ,therefore drawing in more beggars hoping for some of that money.

Presumably this was leaked by somebody in the Windsor police, annoyed that he was telling them to ‘do their job’.
So many things are leaked, tweeted and generally bandied around ( and often twisted as well) that it’s hard to get at the actual truth.I think it’s worrying.
Is he trying to get out of what he actually said, or telling the truth? we would need to see the actual letter or email to know that.
