Along with gillybob, glamma and, I think, MissAdventure (?) I'm waiting for a call to say that my daughter has gone into labour. Anyone else got a baby due imminently?
Whilst typing this I just got a text from my foster son to say his 3 months pregnant wife has started bleeding. Oh no!

Gillybob, such wonderful, lovely news about the arrival of Evie. I was out all day yesterday, so missed your announcement. best wishes to the new Mum and Dad, and of course to you. Enjoy the cuddles.

Gillybob I bet you are just bursting with pride for your DD after such a long labour she will need the extra days in hospital it will do her the world of good, sending all my love.
No further news on my two new arrivals DIL was taken to labour ward last night but sent home again at 2am and told to come back when pains every 5 mins and DGD in law was told the same, they are both booked into same hospital and it would funny if they both arrived together.
We have my OHs birthday tomorrow so how cool would that be if they both delivered to-morrow.

After 19 hours labour my grandson was finally born at 1.29am this morning - a May Day birthday he now shares with my mother-in-law. As with my daughter's other two births all went well until the last twenty minutes or so when it all went pear shaped because baby became very distressed and suddenly we had 5/6 midwives and a doctor in the room, but in spite of being told she would need help to get baby out she managed by herself and baby recovered very quickly. My daughter was very shocked and tired after the birth and took a couple of hours to be able to do more than stroke baby's head on her chest, but by 3.30am she had roused enough to dress and cuddle him. His name is an old-fashioned, love it or hate it name, but I love it. It's too distinctive to share though, I'm afraid - we don't want it appearing on FaceBook. After being awake for 26 hours (and being locked out of my daughter's house when the other granny realised she hadn't got the house keys with her) I finally got to bed just after 5.30am!
We're collecting the boys from school at lunchtime and taking them in to meet their baby brother then will go home this afternoon. The other lovely granny shared the whole experience except for the actual birth (only 2 people allowed at that point) and is going to stay on here until the end of the week to do the school run and help out.
Sending good wishes to other grannies-in-waiting and a quick wave to gilly. smile

Lots of Congrats to you GA and of course your daughter and the rest of the family!
Our DGS also has a very distinctive name, as does our DS, and I keep them 'secret', we don't know who's reading!
Three boys, that sounds like my idea of paradise, I love, love, love boys!
With two big brothers, I'm sure his life will be eventful!

Auntieflo Tue 01-May-18 19:25:34

More happy news. Congratulations GA, and also to your DD. Our GGS, was given two very unusual names, but we quickly got used to them.

Many congratulations Gilly and grannyactivist And to your families too.

gillybob Tue 01-May-18 22:55:56

Many, many congratulations grannyactivist so pleased to learn your baby boy arrived safe and well. smile my DD’s last hour went a bit “pear shaped” too so I understand what you are saying . So frightening for us mothers looking on helplessly and not able to do anything.

Funnily enough our little “Evie” was going to have May as a middle name but considering she was born a week early (30th April) DD and her partner have decided (probably rightly) that Evie April doesn’t sound quite right so she will not have a middle name after all.

Feeling all warm, happy and a teensy bit exhausted tonight . Thank you everyone for all good wishes, I really appreciate every one of them . Xx

Grammaretto Tue 01-May-18 23:02:48

Congratulations to all the new grands! I think May in this country is the best time to have a birthday, when the weather is generally mild. I hope the babies thrive and the mums recover quickly.
One of mine was born at home in May and it was a very special time.

harrigran Tue 01-May-18 23:03:15

GA Congratulations on your new baby grandson so pleased everything went well in the end and well done your daughter.
My GD in law was taken in this morning at 6.30am and is as I type on gas & air so our baby will be here soon and on my hubby's birthday so what a lovely gift he/she will be.
No more news on DIL she is still having pains but too far apart to go off to delivery suite poor girl must be so tired.
