both Margaret Hodge and Ian Austin now face disciplinary action , Margaret for telling Corbyn he was anti semetic and Ian for telling a close friend of Corbyn the party has become a sewer . Freedom of speech not allowed in the party.

Anniebach Fri 03-Aug-18 10:35:50

trisher, doesn’t take much to astound you. Both my daughters fathers in law were from Ireland, no connection , just how it is.

As for ‘my connections’, what connections? I have spoken of MP’s I know because I have always been very involved with the Labour Party, attended conferences, South Wales has always had strong Labour loyalty. I may have forgotten to mention an uncle of one of my son in law was a MP for a South Wales constituency. I worked with him and others in the fight to have the Welsh assembly.

I understand it’s difficult for some not to understand Welsh extended families, and the involvement of many in the valleys with the Labour Party.

To astound you a little more, google Sir Horace Evans, another member of my Welsh extended family ?, you may find details of the monument of his father another member of my Welsh extended family. I didn’t chose my family I was just born ?

So now we have reports of a KKK member’s views on the election of Corbyn. Whilst Corbyn cannot in anyway be held responsible for who ever praises him I was shocked that in 2015 this anti Semetic man was pleased Corbyn had been elected, I didn’t think U.K. politics was of interest to Americans

lemongrove Fri 03-Aug-18 13:13:57

Well there you are Annie the leader of the KKK was hoping Corbyn would be PM and would no doubt make things difficult for Jews in Britain.

Anniebach Fri 03-Aug-18 13:30:18

lemon, I knew nothing of anti semitism in the party in 2015, Ed Millibands father was a Jewish immigrant , Ed was Party leader for nearly five years , David Milliband was foreign secretary for three years and if it hadn’t been for the union vote he would have been leader not Ed

Anniebach Fri 03-Aug-18 13:36:01

Oh for a leader who can lead, who can cope with media interviews, who would fit on the world stage , a politician and a statesman/woman

Would Wilson, Blair, Becket, Cooper hide behind a glass door

trisher Fri 03-Aug-18 13:40:50

Oh for a Labour supporter who believed in Labour values and not watered down conservativism!

lemongrove Fri 03-Aug-18 13:44:29

Plenty of Labour supporters around who cannot bring themselves to vote for Corbyn though!

PECS Fri 03-Aug-18 13:44:47

I saw it on a FB page. You can check the dates.

eazybee Fri 03-Aug-18 13:45:12

Oh for a Labour supporter who believes in Labour values, not diluted, thinly disguised communism.

lemongrove Fri 03-Aug-18 13:46:07

grin

Anniebach Fri 03-Aug-18 13:46:08

Oh for a labour supporter who can accept the voter fears a Trotsky government.

Gordon Brown, a water downed Tory ,

This labour supporter longs for a labour leader not a leader who holds Venezuela as utopia

Anniebach Fri 03-Aug-18 13:50:52

Work it out, Michael Foot, far left leader took the party through the 1983 election into 14 years in the wilderness. Tony Blair took the Party through three consecutive elections, and we won them.

Fennel Fri 03-Aug-18 15:59:44

Trisher and Easybee -
"Oh for a Labour supporter who believes in Labour values,*
but not watered down conservatism/communism.
But what are those values now? Apart from the rich not being able to fleece the poor.
I would love to know.

trisher Fri 03-Aug-18 16:15:18

Labour values (Not communist!) Belief that some services- railways, water etc should be run as public companies and profit reinvested not put in private pockets. That some social housing should be built and kept as rental property for those in need and private rents should be regulated. That the benefit system should function properly and provide a proper safety net. That zero hours contracts and other forms of worker exploitation should be made illegal. That education and the health service should be properly funded and privatisation of the NHS should be stopped.
There that should do for now.

paddyann Fri 03-Aug-18 16:37:12

sad to say the Orange Order marched in Scotland with banners proclaiming an alliance with the KKK ...maybe someone from NI can tell me if they are the same there .
Trisher you're flogging a dead horse....the Corbyn haters will believe what they want and thats that he is the devil incarnate ..he 's anti semitic ,pro terrorist and a communist to boot .They cant see the facsist tendencies of the right in the UK .

Ilovecheese Fri 03-Aug-18 16:41:01

No more expensive public/private partnerships that end up costing over the odds.

No more forcing schools to become academies. no more money wasted on free schools.

Repeal Andre Lansley's Health and Social care act (creeping privatisation)

Call a halt to the roll out of Universal Credit until the problems have been addressed.

Think again about new nuclear power stations, do we really need them now that renewable energy is cheaper than nuclear.

Anniebach Fri 03-Aug-18 16:44:24

Paddyann, this is not about the right,

You disagree that Corbyn doesn’t support terrorists?

You disagree he has been very slow in dealing with anti semetism in the Labour Party?

You disagree he has not praised communist countries?

You disagree the far left do hold Trotsky as a semi god?

No one has ever said they hate Corbyn, if you think strong critcism of him it follows you hate the UK.

Fennel Fri 03-Aug-18 18:02:50

Thanks Trisher and Ilovecheese.
Good to have some constructive ideas for a change wink.

PECS Fri 03-Aug-18 18:03:45

The Labour Manifesto is easy to find and easy to read. The sadly destructive infighting between rt of centre LP members (mainly Blairites) and JC and those who were pleased to see a difference in the manifestos of Tory / Lab has created a real opportunity for those even further on the rt to get a foot in the door. They have only had to prod a bit the and there and

PECS Fri 03-Aug-18 18:07:39

(oops) the media has had a field day, Tories are thrilled the limelight is not on them & their issues which are AT LEAST as problematic. Not known for their social cohesion Tories have hidden so much Sh!t whilst LP members fight amongst themselves egged on by darker forces.

Anniebach Fri 03-Aug-18 18:43:11

What darker forces? The party is split but anyone have the answer as to how this can be healed ?

The majority of labour MP’s are left of centre, should they abandon their values ? Corbyn never did.

Should Corbyn move from the far left to work with the majority ?

trisher Fri 03-Aug-18 18:44:46

Fennel many of us on GN are delighted to take part in constructive and analytical discussions about policies and ideals. Sadly there are a few who prefer to indulge in repetitive mudslinging. All you can do is ignore them and continue.
PECS It is unbelievable that the party in power that is in total disarray and continues to mess up gets away with it whilst the minutiae of discussion in the opposition is subject to constant press campaigns. It does make me fear for democracy. I pin my hopes on "You can fool some of the people etc"

Anniebach Fri 03-Aug-18 18:57:07

List the alleged mud slinging trisher.

Or do you mean ignore what is happening in the party and pretend all is well?

Fennel Fri 03-Aug-18 19:23:33

trisher I agree. Destruction and negativism gets you nowhere.
But I had vowed to myself to stay out of this thread.

Ilovecheese Fri 03-Aug-18 19:33:36

Mudslinging can also be counter productive, remember the 14 pages in the daily mail before the last election, and how the labour polls went up straight afterwards.
