Just looked her up niggly, only 38, joined the Libs when 17. Wonder if she would get womens votes , would men vote for her? she gave a good speech

MawBroon Sun 16-Sept-18 19:51:45

Therefore I agree with trishrers comments and have concluded that there are more turds in this thread than ever was to be seen at the sewage plant yesterday

Is there really any need for such coarse language?
I shall not be posting on this thread any more or indeed on any where the language is that of the gutter.
It says much about the sort of person who uses it - perhaps that is how all you HGV driver chaps talk when you are together , but I am reminded of Trump’s “locker room” language.
I don’t live in that sort of environment and particularly today as I reflect on the life of a gentle man and a gentleman, I do not need to sink to your level.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 19:59:15

Maw, please don’t let bullies win. You have in you heart a decent, loving, lovable, caring, gentle man . Decent, loving, gentle compared to sewage talk ? You are a kind, intelligent lady x

Jalima1108 Sun 16-Sept-18 20:30:10

Very strange language for an older man hmm

Maw we know at least three HGV drivers, one related, and I can assure you that they are all lovely, polite and, if I can use an old-fashioned word, gentlemanly. In fact they are kind, gentle men too. One retired and, sadly, has Alzheimer's, but still a kind and wonderful man, always polite.

I wonder if Grandad is all that he purports to be?
If he shows his female staff our posts 'for a laugh' I wonder what they think of his posts?
I would guess not a lot.

Something does not ring true, sorry.

Iam64 Sun 16-Sept-18 20:34:57

Jalima and MawBroon, totally agree with your posts.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 20:43:06

Well, we have finally seen the true person .

Jalima1108 Sun 16-Sept-18 20:55:22

I would just like to add that, although I may not always agree with trisher, I am sure that she would never use language or references such as those used on this and other threads by Grandad.

trisher Sun 16-Sept-18 21:20:01

Me thinks the ladies do protest too much.
Why not ignore the language and focus on political debate? The best way to humiliate someone is to destroy their ideas.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 21:23:30

Do you Trisher , I disagree , no one should not be addressed in that manner, you may find it acceptable and defend it , your choice .

I have never wanted to humiliate anyone , cruel , again your choice

MawBroon Sun 16-Sept-18 21:24:04

Perhaps Trisher, but why engage with that sort of person in the first place?
Now I must shush like I said I was going to.

trisher Sun 16-Sept-18 21:35:17

Perhaps what I realy find upsetting is that as women we should be strong enough to withstand and to respond to agressive language without having to play the offended card. It ties too much into the once common view that women were unable to engage in robust political debate because of their more delicate sensibilities.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 21:41:15

Who do you think is playing the offended card Trisher ?

lemongrove Sun 16-Sept-18 21:43:59

There is something unpleasant trisher in the only man on the political threads using coarse language solely in order to
Annoy because he can’t engage in debate without insulting women on the thread.
I know that you agree with his political viewpoint so that probably you are defending him in an oblique way.
Most of us ( I suspect) won’t be doing the same regardless of political viewpoints.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 21:44:56

Rather amusing this thread was about bullying

trisher Sun 16-Sept-18 21:50:59

Then engage, debate and counter the argument lemon. It is 2018 not 1918. Women no longer have the vapours when coarse language is used. I am not defending anyone. I am putting an objective argument that women today are the equal of any man and can challenge them without taking the huff because they don't like the language they use.

lemongrove Sun 16-Sept-18 21:55:43

Are you aving a laugh trisher?
Grandad said ‘Therefore I agree with trishers comments, and have concluded that there are more turds in this thread than ever was to be seen at the sewage plant yesterday’
So, you engage debate and counter that if you like, most of us can’t be bothered!
You only take your stance because he was agreeing with your comments. So obvious.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 22:00:44

Trisher, you may consider a person who uses foul language your equal, I do not. Since Corbyn became leader some people’s politics have plunged into the gutter , mine had not.

trisher Sun 16-Sept-18 22:06:33

No lemon one of my pet obsessions is women having absolute equality and what really upsets me is women who play the sensitive card and refuse to engage because they are offended. Many things offend me (bad language doesn't, I worked with too many children who used it to try and shock) but if I am offended I don't retire quietly and disengage I take on the argument and win.
And it's nothing to do with the ideas or agreement on policies it's about asking women to step up and be strong.

lemongrove Sun 16-Sept-18 22:21:10

So funny trisher .....keep digging yourself into the hole.

lemongrove Sun 16-Sept-18 22:24:53

There is no arguement to take on and win, and it’s laughable for you to think that there is.
We can either ignore his insults now and move on ( having duly said what we think) or we can resort to gutter language ourselves ( no thanks.)

trisher Sun 16-Sept-18 22:25:49

So sad lemon that there are still women who can't counter. a man's arguments.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 22:27:30

Sorry Trisher, comparing children with an adult Male realy is rather a pathetic attempt to defend your closest ally

.

MawBroon Sun 16-Sept-18 22:28:40

Oh dear, I just don’t go do I?
Equality for me Trisher works both ways, it does not mean that I have to lower myself to that sort of level.
If my argument is weak, I am under no illusions about resorting to the language of the gutter or scatological insults. It does not give the argument more validity.
I used to be a secondary teacher and am well used to hearing words I would not choose to employ myself. I could excuse them because those responsible , usually in the bottom sets (!) were not always the brightest or most articulate and their vocabulary was consequently limited.
“By their words shall ye know them “ to paraphrase a well known saying.
Or indeed the Old Wykehamist motto
“Manners makyth man”

lemongrove Sun 16-Sept-18 22:30:30

Seems you agree with all he says.......because he agrees with all you say.If that is a ‘man’s arguements’ then God help us all. You are on your own I think with this one trisher and you are very welcome to him.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 22:32:23

I admit I liked this , not use to the hustings is he
