I don't think it was fair to target his children but they don't really seem like ordinary folk do they?

trisher Fri 28-Sept-18 20:42:02

Of course JRM's children make use of state provision. Even if they are privately educated their teachers will have been trained in Universities, the private healthcare they enjoy will use NHS trained nurses and doctors. They will be protected by the same policemen, use the same roads, the same council services and other facilities as the rest of us. And should any of them develop an illness too complicated or difficult for private health care the NHS will be there for them.

Rufussmum Sat 29-Sept-18 07:41:23

Exactly Trisher..every individual and their offspring makes demands on dwindling resources - food, water and energy - so I don't agree that how many children people choose to have is a personal choice.
JRM can afford to feed, clothe and house his tribe but would there be so much support on here if he was an out of work father and living on benefits? Rich or poor, we are all responsible for the future.

nigglynellie Sat 29-Sept-18 11:13:34

Why should they not use the NHS etc, JRM will pay into it and everything else in exactly the same way as we all do, which gives him and his family the same entitlements as the rest of us. The fact that in certain areas they will be self funding has to be a bonus.

Ooh, thanks for bringing this thread back up, nellie. I was wondering where this might go:

Along with a comment from the twitter thread I found it on:

I had 25 years owning my own business,if you are honest and pay all your taxes and VAT,you will not get rich but make a nice living if luck is on your side, so the truth is to get mega rich you have to cheat the system.

Seems Mrs JRM should have raced off for several abortions

nigglynellie Sat 29-Sept-18 11:18:51

How many children a couple can have is, thank goodness, still personal choice unless the state has slipped in a law unbeknown to the rest of us stating a quota? China comes to mind though I think in that country you are allowed two children now. Was unaware that it applied here though!!!

Anniebach Sat 29-Sept-18 11:25:19

It applies here if you have money Niggly but not if you are dependent on benefits

trisher Sat 29-Sept-18 11:47:51

Actually from Feb next year a limit of 2 children will apply to benefits. For these new claims, Universal Credit will only pay an additional amount for 2 children
I believe there are circumstances in which a third child can be paid for. If the woman has been raped for example. This is the real face of the Tory benefits system, in order to feed a child you have to make them the product of a rape.

MaizieD Sat 29-Sept-18 11:50:36

You have to prove the rape, too, before benefit can be claimed for the third child.

nigglynellie Sat 29-Sept-18 11:58:53

That is true annie. People do point the finger at big families on benefit but wealthy families are exempt from criticism. Don't think we want state interference either way?

Anniebach Sat 29-Sept-18 12:15:02

I am 100% against stopping benefits for a third child, this may force women to have abortions.

trisher Sat 29-Sept-18 12:23:23

But JRM does niggly which is why many consider him a hypocrite, and yes it may involve women having abortions Annie after all what's the alternative? And JRM doesn't approve of those either but apparently is quite happy to leave women the horrific choice.

Anniebach Sat 29-Sept-18 12:27:25

JRM is a back bencher, can the blame of the benefit cuts be laid at his feet?

jura2 Sat 29-Sept-18 12:30:18

OH just asked me during lunch 'if it was a choice between Bojo or RM, which would you choose?'

to my shock and amazement, I just had to reply RM !?! Can't believe I said that- and OH agreed too.

jura2 Sat 29-Sept-18 12:32:00

But- if this is the only choice we are left with - may your God go with you- as Dave Allen would have said sad

OMG

Anniebach Sat 29-Sept-18 12:48:10

Good grief what a choice, for me JRM, anyone rather than Johnson

GrannyGravy13 Sat 29-Sept-18 12:54:54

I have 5 children, all very much loved, 2 educated privately.
Surely it is the parents responsibility to feed, clothe and put a roof over their heads, not the state.

We are in business, honest, pay all our taxes. Have worked our socks off and now reaping the benefits. Why are some people so against others who have accumulated wealth, I think it is a bit of the green eyed monster ????

Anniebach Sat 29-Sept-18 13:18:00

I too see the roots of envy spreading GrannyGravy , I have never experienced it or found it acceptable.

MawBroon Sat 29-Sept-18 13:28:20

jura2 the devil and the deep blue sea?
(Bojo or RM) or indeed JC
Time to burrow under the duvet or as “Fascinating Aida “ sang, “ Put your head between your knees and kiss your arse goodbye”

MawBroon Sat 29-Sept-18 13:30:47

Or, translated into American grin

Anniebach Sat 29-Sept-18 13:34:59

What of Sajid Javid ? . I know so little of this man

MawBroon Sat 29-Sept-18 13:38:29

I am as yet unconvinced that he is making any real impact as Mayor of London, however well meaning.

Anniebach Sat 29-Sept-18 13:41:28

Damn have I got the wrong name ? I meant the Home Secretary

trisher Sat 29-Sept-18 13:41:56

It is nothing to do with envy GG13 and everything to do with having principles and not making rules that make others lives more difficult. JRM has 6 children. His choice, but a woman who gives birth to a third child who happens to be claiming benefits when the child is born has 3 choices. 1. to declare the child the result of a rape (and prove it), 2.to abort the child 3. to have the child and try to feed 3 children on the benefit for 2.
The reasons women are on benefit are numerous, but amongst them are: they have been abandoned by a man, their partner has died, they have been made unemployed. Even the most careful can accidentally conceive a child. I really don't know and I really don't care how JRM made his money. I really don't care how many children he has. I do care that he and his party are introducing measures which will cause genuine suffering for many.

Anniebach Sat 29-Sept-18 13:43:59

Is one back bencher to hold the blame for the decisions of the government ?
