Are you happy now?

jura2 Thu 15-Nov-18 18:11:46

there is only one much much better deal ...

we might still get it.

Could someone explain to me how this deal solve the Irish Border, long term?

Fennel Thu 15-Nov-18 18:52:41

On such a lovely day I thought you would be out skiing, Jura.

jura2 Thu 15-Nov-18 19:24:34

Indian Summer - lovely, sunny and warm- and not a snowflake in sight ;) and I have the second rotten cold in 6 weeks- so did not last long in the garden. Thank you.

I take it you mean the UK ' Remaining ' in the EU?

Why do you think Switzerland has never joined the European Union?

I repeat part of my list to you yesterday:-

" Well you know as much as anybody jura how difficult it can be to fight against the European Unions desire for a Federal State / Ever Closer Union.

As a Swiss national who is used to referendum after referendum the Swiss Government couldn't even follow the wish of the people in a referendum when the people voted to limit immigration could it? The EU wouldn't let it happen.

That brings us back to the ' no cherry picking ' abiding by the 4 Pillars / Freedoms even for countries such as Switzerland who are ' not even members of the European Union '! "

Do you advocate membership of the EU so vociferously in your native Switzerland or just for the UK?

Fennel Thu 15-Nov-18 20:13:03

Good post, Pogs.
Come on jura - those are fair questions. How do you answer/explain?

Chewbacca Thu 15-Nov-18 20:57:23

That's a damned good question POGS, I'd love to hear the answer to that.

jura, what is the answer please?

lemongrove Thu 15-Nov-18 21:00:13

I would also like to know.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 15-Nov-18 21:08:11

Easy to say how good the EU is when living outside it’s juristriction. We strayed into Switzerland for approx 2 miles and cost a packet!!!

PECS Thu 15-Nov-18 21:32:40

So are we in favour of Jacob Rees Mogg's letter or not?

varian Thu 15-Nov-18 21:34:42

Mogg can do what he likes, but in my opinion, any challenge from his lot to TM at this time will fail.

PECS Thu 15-Nov-18 22:15:04

Brexit makes strange bedfellows! Just seen the immaculate JRM being interviewed with his RP Engish, looking like a caricature of a very English gentleman being supported by a group of men from the other end of that continuum & who you suspect would not normally cross paths unless renovating the RM family home or sizing it up!!

lemongrove Thu 15-Nov-18 22:20:11

Well, I’m not in favour of Mogg’s letter, don’t know about anyone else.

MawBroon Thu 15-Nov-18 22:25:28

Tell you one thing, which many of us will agree perhaps - she has been incredible, more colliones that all of them put together

Sorry, how are you interpreting the word “colliones” jura?
I’ve looked it up in Italian and it just seems to mean “stupid”
confused

lemongrove Thu 15-Nov-18 22:34:50

Yes, Hemingway always liked a similar word I think.grin
Quite a different spelling though.

Anniebach Thu 15-Nov-18 22:43:06

Oh not class war again.

There will more than one letter of no confidence, JRM did it openly .

I agree, I have always had respect for Mrs May, today it went even higher.

Day6 Thu 15-Nov-18 22:43:18

Has Jura explained why she is happily living in Switzerland but so vehement regarding the UK leaving the EU?

It is a very good question.

Day6 Thu 15-Nov-18 22:48:08

I listened to JRM on Peston last night.

His answer as to why he might have lost faith in TM was a good one. He used words to the effect that whilst he had a high regard for Mrs May and supported her, as the negotiations went on and on, and especially after the Chequers ultimatum, more and more the policy became part of her.

In not liking the policy she had created, one he felt extremely strongly about, he could not support May. I nodded my head in agreement. I think he has lots of integrity. (Apologies if this has already been mentioned and I have worded JRM's response clumsily.)

petra Thu 15-Nov-18 22:50:14

Oh, is she not living in the uk?
Every post from her uses the word 'us' or 'we' as we who live in the uk do.

MawBroon Thu 15-Nov-18 23:02:26

lemongrove are we both thinking of “cojones” perhaps?

Day6 Thu 15-Nov-18 23:10:47

We need Ed Balls to explain it....

MawBroon Thu 15-Nov-18 23:14:15

grin

janeainsworth Thu 15-Nov-18 23:35:41
