A small number of back benchers will announce they are leaving the party this morning.

Chuka Umunna is one who may be among them.

Anniebach Mon 25-Feb-19 10:04:08

But fennel there is denial of the holocaust .

Denying racism is feeding racism , racism is ‘scary’ it is evil

trisher Mon 25-Feb-19 10:34:17

Much denial of the holocaust is from right wing extremists and nothing to do with the LP.
Using rascism accusations for political purposes is more scary and threatens democracy.

Anniebach Mon 25-Feb-19 10:37:02

Defending racism for political purposes is what ?

trisher Mon 25-Feb-19 11:29:46

Has anyone "defended racism"?

Anniebach Mon 25-Feb-19 11:40:37

Denying racisism can be defending racism

Iam64 Mon 25-Feb-19 12:04:25

The fact that thus far anti semitism and holocaust denial has largely been from right wingers does nothing to diminish concerns that anti semitism is on the rise in many groups and in the LP. It’s a given that no political party can prevent it but it’s no good to blame a right wing media when Labour mps and supporters identify ut

Mycatisahacker Mon 25-Feb-19 12:19:20

Awful whataboutary there trishet you are deflecting more than a wind farm!

Not all Jewish people mind! It’s the far right too! It’s not just us? To attack the racism in labour is attacking democracy.

See this is why labour is dying and looking very very nasty indeed!

Anniebach Mon 25-Feb-19 12:28:04

Whataboutary indeed ,

trisher Mon 25-Feb-19 12:38:01

Mycatisahacker if there is evidence of anti-semitism in the LP then I think it will be dealt with. I doubt very much that it is connected with the attacks on Jewish cemeteries, schools and synagogues. However if someone has proof of that connection I will apologise and withdraw this post.
Incidently I didn't bring those things onto this thread. It does disturb me that so many accusations are being thrown at Labour while the very real threat of the growth of right wing organisations is ignored. These organisations are becoming much more vocal and active. They target both Jews and Muslims. Some of the announcements they make at public meetings are disgusting and threatening. I despair that they are largely ignored.
Which is why I wonder about a political agenda. It wouldn't be difficult to imagine that while we focus on scrupulously scrutinising members of the LP there are other forces mobilising. That isn't by the way dismissing allegations just wondering why they have such a high profile, when a very real attack on a Muslim school near me barely made the local (and certainly not the national) news.
Incidently is Labour dying? Biggest political party, most growth, highest number of votes is dying?

Anniebach Mon 25-Feb-19 13:06:40

The Labour Party died when momentum was formed and Corbyn became leader,

Keeping on about right wing organisations is deflecting from anti semetism in the Corbyn Momentum Party, denial again. Why not accept there is anti semetism in your party?

trisher Mon 25-Feb-19 14:35:50

And making accusations without proof is what? Any anti-semitism will be dealt with.

Anniebach Mon 25-Feb-19 14:53:41

Who said it would be dealt with ?

GrannyGravy13 Mon 25-Feb-19 15:00:38

I watched Tom Watson on Andrew Marr yesterday, he said he had passed a list to JC of 50 anti-semitism incidents for him to investigate?

Over all the interview looked as if he would like to become Party Leader?

trisher Mon 25-Feb-19 15:04:20

I watched as well . I presume people accept that the incidents will be dealt with by the machinery set up to do that or do they think that Corbyn should do it all himself?

Jalima1108 Mon 25-Feb-19 15:07:01

Biggest political party, most growth, highest number of votes is dying?
When did they have the highest number of votes please?

Conservative Votes – 13,667,213 318 seats
Labour Votes – 12,874,985 262 seats
Lib Dems Votes – 2,371,772 12 seats
SNP Votes – 977,569 35 seats
DUP Votes – 292,316 Seats – 10
Sinn Fein Votes – 238,915 Seats – 7
Plaid Cymru Votes – 164,466 Seats – 4
Green Party Votes – 525,371 Seats – 1

plus a large number of votes which resulted in no seats, of course.
No wonder many people want proportional representation looking at the disproportionate number of seats of Lib Dems and the SNP.

". if there is evidence of anti-semitism in the LP then I think it will be dealt with."

You have your head in the sand and your fingers in your ears!

Why do you not believe what is / has been reported by Labour MP's and Councillors since 2016?

I appreciate Labour is your chosen party but your defence of the Jeremy for Leader /Momentum / Labour Party over this particular subject is nothing more than defending the indefencable at times.

You keep blaming the right wing press, even Campbell now.

You keep deflecting from the issue by raising the far right, who by the way not a single GN poster has ever denied are anti-semetic.

Your personal statement on Fri 22-Feb-19 20:45:17 said it all.

" Probably the worst thing about the party under Corbyn is that the MPs are not intimidated enough because they are speaking out."

Mycatisahacker Mon 25-Feb-19 17:34:52

trisher

Sorry snd I am sure you personally are sincere but you are blinkered.

As said above by posters labour has again and sgsin systematically been unable or more unwilling to deal with its racism. Yes there is far right extremism and racism across the board but that doesn’t alter the fact that labour is institutionally antisemetic. What a bloody shame. Labour was once the beacon of light for all oppressed people and a very broad church.

Now unless you worship Corbyn you are nothing! Not my words but those of the wonderful Jess Phillips.

I don’t think Corbyn is racist of course he isn’t he’s just a hopeless leader who
Hasn’t a clue and surrounded by other non leaders like Dianne.

I thought the ralley they Held, after the MPs left where Thornbury denigrated snd took the piss was totally and utterly disgraceful and the eyes of the country will see an arrogant hateful bullying bunch.
Only Tom had the sense to say he was upset rather than arrogant.

Even the Tories said the loss of their MPs was regrettable and they hoped they would return.

Labour is dead. The Labour Party I supported under Smith, Kinnock is dead.

varian Mon 25-Feb-19 18:28:52

The Labour Party may not yet be dead. They seem to be about to endorse a People's Vote!!!

Mycatisahacker Mon 25-Feb-19 18:38:55

varian

This is a move to stop the haemorrhaging of labour voters away from labour.

The problems in labour still exist.

But interesting times.

varian Mon 25-Feb-19 19:06:52

I agree, interesting times indeed.

Anniebach Mon 25-Feb-19 20:07:48

They don’t want to lose more MP’s and need the votes of the young who are mostly remainers, bet he is feeling pig sick

POGS Mon 25-Feb-19 20:13:20

Will Corbyn be able to keep his promises of renationalisation if we stay in the EU?

Corbyn and his supporters might be shooting themselves in the foot.

Anniebach Mon 25-Feb-19 20:21:02

The way I feel at the moment I hope he would aim a gun higher than his foot.

Mycatisahacker Mon 25-Feb-19 20:34:22

grin

Jabberwok Mon 25-Feb-19 21:15:40

This man is the most duplicitous person that ever ran a political party! A eurosceptic all his life, completely opposed to a second referendum, but has clearly had a word with St Paul!!!! However, if we stay in the EU, it will surely put an end to a lot of his aspirations including renationalisation which would be a small bonus!
