Four votes!! That's damn close.

andycameron69 Thu 14-Mar-19 20:37:15

let us delay it even longer....oooh no democracy

these votes mean nothing in LAW

jura2 Thu 14-Mar-19 20:39:41

Our own LAW makes the Good Friday agreement legally binding - whereas our own LAW makes a Referendum advisory. You are getting a tad confused perhaps.

andycameron69 Thu 14-Mar-19 20:42:16

i love paying more tax the eveil EU

andycameron69 Thu 14-Mar-19 20:59:58

no tad confused here

go on extend it forever,,, betray us at your peril

jura2 Thu 14-Mar-19 21:15:36

I don't want a long extension, I want a People's vote on the current situation - without the lies, the fraud and all the rest- and with the necessary information to hand- Simples- Democracy in action.

lemongrove Thu 14-Mar-19 21:28:37

MP’s voted down another referendum.

jura2 Thu 14-Mar-19 21:34:46

if Mrs May can get people to vote on her deal again and again- then we can have another too, no?

lemongrove Thu 14-Mar-19 21:41:30

No
The ‘people’ are MP’s, and these kind of votes are what they do.A referendum is exactly that, a referendum.

MaizieD Fri 15-Mar-19 00:22:00

A referendum is exactly that, a referendum.

Like 'Brexit is Brexit' eh, lemon?

Much as I love Scotland, I wish those living there would have their independence, keep all their money, food whisky and oil and then we wouldn't be bailing you out. Scotland's spending per capita is over £12.5k, way more than England's £10k
Scotland's deficit to GDP ratio is 10%, off the charts in real terms as the EU demands it's members have a maximum 3% ratio or less.
Go...please leave. We don't need you but you need us.

GabriellaG54 Fri 15-Mar-19 01:54:27

A large number of wanna-be parliamentarians on here.
If they know so much and are so sure of the way this government should be run, why aren't they campaigning to be elected?
One minute they're saying that we shouldn't believe all we read, the next they're quoting or cut n pasting from those very papers and, as for kangaroo courts, don't get me started.

GabriellaG54 Fri 15-Mar-19 02:04:46

...and as for the repetitive refrain of 'What about jobs, medicine and cancer treatment?', it isn't all about those things. Many people won't lose their jobs, not all people are on medication (although I grant that most on here are, or so I read) and not everyone has cancer.
I get tired if reading the same old blurb trotted out as reasons for staying. Did we go without medicine before we joined the EU?
I thought not.
We're just used to eating pills like sweets and feel that we'll fall apart without them.
* 'we're, meaning all those with a cabinet stuffed full of prescription meds.

Teresa May's 'Deal' is a bummer. It's not what Leavers voted for and it's not what Remainers want. So, if eventually passed, everyone gets what nobody wants!

And, could someone please explain to me why she keeps coming back with it??? It's like bullying! 'My Way or No Way.'

Her deal keeps us tied to the EU forever! And we won't be able to negotiate deals with the rest of the world. What sort of deal is that? We'd be better off Remaining!

No, we should come out on March 29th! (As promised.) We'll be OK. Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Norway, have already said they are willing to make trading deals with us. There will be others. We must take this opportunity to move away from the corrupt EU, and steer our own course. There will be some problems, inevitably. Some bumps in the road. But nothing we can't handle.

(And we'll keep our £39 billion, to help smooth the way!)

Cosmos Fri 15-Mar-19 06:50:52

I am scared that we won't come out of Europe at all. Politicians both side have just been simply a disgrace: self serving opportunists. The country voted to leave, doesn't matter if it upsets anyone, that's democracy, I never wanted in all those years but accepted the majority did, that's what a referendum does, you can't keep having referendums until people are brow beaten into not caring any more.
Lyndilous last paragraph says it all. Let's just leave without a deal, please. We must be the laughing stock of the world.

Now the No Deal tariffs have been ( quietly ) published, the DUP must realise that no deal would destroy NI farming. Therefore I think they will suddenly decide that TM s deal suits them after all.

andycameron69 Fri 15-Mar-19 07:32:55

nonsense, her atrocious deal doesn't suit anyone but the Evil EU.

read it carefully and digest

crystaltipps Fri 15-Mar-19 07:43:46

There would be 50% tariff on beef in Northern Ireland under a no deal scenario according to government. That would finish off many farmers there, so it’s likely the flag wavers in the DUP will take that into consideration and change their votes accordingly.

andycameron69 Fri 15-Mar-19 07:53:21

not true actually

crystaltipps Fri 15-Mar-19 09:39:28

True actually

Gonegirl Fri 15-Mar-19 09:44:32

andy - go and read the link anja put up in the other thread. It tells you about tariffs.

No deal would be horrific.

I don't understand why you are so against Theresa May. She is doing her darndest to get us out on the allotted date. That's what you want isn't it?

crystaltipps Fri 15-Mar-19 09:44:43

Tariffs on Irish beef would mean Irish beef could come into the U.K. via NI where there would be no tariffs, in the event of a no deal. this destroying the NI beef farmers

Labaik Fri 15-Mar-19 09:47:32

Japan have said they're willing to trade with us. They've also said that they won't give us as good a deal as the one we would have had through the EU [because they know we're desperate]. And they're also moving manufacture of their good away from us bit by bit. What's good about that? Everything about Brexit makes us worse off than we would have been.

jura2 Fri 15-Mar-19 10:25:19

andyc, you say you didn't vote for a deal - and I believe you.

But then why did the Leave campaign keep telling us we would hold all the cards, that we would get the best deal with the EU, that no job would be lost, that the NHS would be much better funded ...

andycameron69 Fri 15-Mar-19 16:34:21

because they all lie I see, all of them are liars and do not give a toss about me the ordinary person.

Liars and traitors and not to be believed, self serving horrid individuals. the whole lot of them

They all betray the trust of the ordinary citizen, who they are elected to represent.

crystaltipps Fri 15-Mar-19 16:57:09

That includes the Brexiteers.
