A legislature who want the “will of the people” to be tested now that it is fully clear exactly what Brexit with a deal will bring us and a brexit without a deal.

Parliament does usually shut down for the conference season, but there has to be a motion passed to allow it, usually this is uncontroversial.

However it is quite likely that the motion will not be passed this year so that parliamentary business may continue during the party conferences.

Rory Stewart has ridiculed Boris Johnson’s pro-Brexit online adverts by comparing them to the TV show Little Britain, as he confirmed he will join no-deal Brexit rebels.

The former cabinet minister, who stood against Johnson in the leadership race, confirmed he will “do whatever it takes” to stop Britain from crashing out the European Union on October 31.

But the ex-international development secretary suggested he may not follow the so-called Remain alliance in backing legislation that would pave the way for a second referendum.

Stewart also said that in the “extremely unlikely” event that Johnson would attempt to prorogue – or suspend – parliament in order to force through a no-deal Brexit, he would set up an alternative parliament.

Actually reading more on it all, I think it’s just manufacturing a trigger for a General Election.

Irrespective of your views on their policies (or lack thereof), you have to at least say of this Conservative government that their positioning & strategy with respect to all of this has been artful.
