Will the web being woven, hold?

Cummings game plan seems to be on course.

The tiny majority will be rendered a minority at a stroke by Cummings threat to take the whip away from any Tory rebels.

Johnson has then scapegoats to blame for his failure to deliver a brexit deal, and an excuse to go for a GE.

Labour will then fall in with the game plan by holding a VONC and a GE looks a distinct possibility sometime in Oct.
Johnson will fight it as the people v the elite who failed to deliver the democratic vote. (Bannon writ large)

The U.K. will then crash out on Nov 1st. No attempt is being made by Cummings to get a deal and in any case his contact finishes on Oct 31st.

I'd recommend a visit to Mumsnet where I just went for a peek to see what those who will have to live in a post Brexit Britain are thinking.

A lot of cogent analysis with less harking back to the past and less rhetoric. There are some excellent posters on here but I suddenly feel buoyed up with the thought that those younger than most of us have their finger on the pulse. Refreshing thought.

Major holes in the web now.

Johnson’s brother has just resigned

Labaik Thu 05-Sept-19 11:30:49

I'm so relieved to hear that. I had so much respect for Jo last year and felt totally let down by him when he became a member of Johnsons cabinet. Strangely enough I was only thinking about it earlier today.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 05-Sept-19 11:37:22

Jo Johnson has accused his brother of not acting in the national interest.

MaizieD Thu 05-Sept-19 11:37:29

Strangely enough I was only thinking about it earlier today.

Ooooh! Think about some more of them would you please, Labaik if that's the effect your thoughts have grin

Whitewavemark2 Thu 05-Sept-19 11:40:47

Yes labaik now concentrate on The ERG.

Nandalot Thu 05-Sept-19 11:44:07

If he resigns as an MP does that mean a by election? Sorry for the dumb question.

mcem Thu 05-Sept-19 11:45:56

I too was wondering why we'd seen so little of Jo.
First Ruth D says she can't bear work with him and now his brother!
So why should we put up with him?

Peter Kyle MP has just been interviewed. I had never heard of him but he said exactly what I want to hear.
Will follow him with interest!

Whitewavemark2 Thu 05-Sept-19 11:46:18

God knows!

Whitewavemark2 Thu 05-Sept-19 11:48:06

mcem he’s my mp and brilliant. I always help in his campaigning. If I mail him he answers immediately. He is approachable and articulate.

Fennel Thu 05-Sept-19 12:01:43

His sister, Rache', also disagrees with him.
I think she joined the LibDems not long ago.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 05-Sept-19 12:03:52

Time for Johnson to throw in the towel

Whitewavemark2 Thu 05-Sept-19 12:04:59

Time for the next Tory PM??????

mcem Thu 05-Sept-19 12:24:05

Ww2 I'd emailed my own mp just before that interview. I questioned the SNP stand on the timing of a GE. Maybe I should contact him again and ask him to have a chat with your man!

Whitewavemark2 Thu 05-Sept-19 12:26:21

mcem I think that the SNP will hold solidly with the opposition, but in any case even if they didn’t Johnson still wouldn’t have the numbers.

mcem Thu 05-Sept-19 12:30:32

Latest news seems to be that they are reconsidering rushing in.
A few weeks will make little difference to their solid lead in Scotland .
I have urged Chris Law to stick with the cross party co-operation and bide their time.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 05-Sept-19 14:26:05

Almost certain that Johnson will continue with the narrative of war in his speech to the voter today.

Surrender will be used a lot.

Never fear Johnson, there will be an election, of course there will be.

Just not at your direction. You have lost all power due to your abysmal strategy. I should boot out Cummings if I were you.

Labaik Thu 05-Sept-19 14:36:58

It was suggested somewhere [need to check the details] that Gove is still plotting against Johnson....and that he was the one that put forward Cummings as Johnson's advisor. Although I would assume that Cummings and Johnson were already in league with each other. We live in strange [political] times. More like the Wars of the Roses.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 05-Sept-19 14:44:12

Talking about the Wars of the Roses, I heard that Farage is acting rather like a medieval baron because he is suggesting carving up the U.K. between himself and Johnson.. Farage will take the North and he offered to leave the South for Johnson.

Labaik Thu 05-Sept-19 14:53:03

It's quite terrifying to think that I'm reading that and actually believing it.

growstuff Thu 05-Sept-19 15:21:39

Cummings was Gove's adviser, when Gove was Education Sec. It was Cummings who was behind many of Gove's turbo-charged initiatives, which were opposed by parents and teachers. Cummings made a number of quite worrying comments, some including foul language (as he's still doing). Gove defended him, but Cameron forced Gove to sack him. Cummings then went on to be the mastermind behind VoteLeave.

It could very well be that Gove recommended him to Johnson.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 05-Sept-19 15:26:53

Many Tory mps getting very worried that the Tory party is sliding to the right.

They are correct to be worried.

Labaik Thu 05-Sept-19 15:29:36

Thanks growstuff; if I disliked Cummings before I dislike him even more after reading that. Strange the little bubbles that some politicians live in; Gove thinks he did a great job when Education secretary did he not confused?

You are not alone Labaik

I didn't know that growstuff but it explains a lot.
