Labour Party Conference - chaos reigns.

Chaos - after two days. It's not going well.

Labour has had

an MP suspension mooted
the senior adviser to Corbyn quitting,
revelations the membership want to sack the queen
and call a general strike.

and all while 15 points behind the Tories.

It's all a bit reminiscent of militant Labour, isn't?

Momentum, the controlling force, is looking to replace Corbyn with another hard left Trot/Marxist leader.

What on earth has happened to Labour? shock

Where I live, class size is 15 to 20 absolute max, and really well funded and staffed. I don't know any parent in our region that sends their kid to a private school- none, zilch, zero. And everyone gets good, well funded health care- so private cover is for private room, own TV and WiFi, special menus, and a better view from the window, and choice of private hospital and Consultant.

jura2 Sun 22-Sept-19 20:18:59

This thread is about chaos at Conference- so should go back to this. And if wanted, keep this conversation for another thread.

OH btw inherited a large private practice, very lucrative- but very time consuming. He got rid of it all.

grapefruitpip Sun 22-Sept-19 20:27:41

he thinks the party lacks common decency

Please somebody, anybody point me in the direction of any politician who possesses this?????

Pantglas2 Sun 22-Sept-19 20:30:03

Totally understand what you’re saying Jura2 but let’s not pretend it’s any different from what tories do. We all want the best for our own children but some are happy to proscribe different standards for other people’s children.

Day6 Sun 22-Sept-19 20:32:01

The Labour leadership seems to be in favour of Brexit

Really? I thought they'd become the party of Remain? Who knows what Labour stands for these days.

They ought to make confectionery. They produce excellent fudge. hmm

Anniebach Sun 22-Sept-19 20:52:58

The leader has chosen not to lead so refuses to say if he supports remain or leave.

Urmstongran Sun 22-Sept-19 20:54:07

Wouldn't it have been a better route to ban Private schools having charity status?

I doubt a complete ban on Private education will be successful as it is human nature to always seek an advantage.

Ban faith schools, they have no place in the developing world imo.

jura2 Sun 22-Sept-19 20:59:39

Agree Ursmstongran, on both counts. And of course make massive investment and effort- so that we have good quality education for ALL children and massively cut class-size.

Urmstongran Sun 22-Sept-19 21:02:50

Nice we agree jura2 on something!
??

Ban private schools?
Ban Ofsted?
Leave it to councils to assess local schools?
Teachers and public sector workers on 4 day weeks without loss of pay?
Unions in charge?
Open door immigration?
Private businesses to hand over 10% to workers cooperatives? Tax the rich?
Tax on driving to a hospital?
Free interest free 40,000 quid loans for 500,000 each year to buy electric cars?

If Corbyn gets in ... oh god help us!
?

Chewbacca Sun 22-Sept-19 21:08:02

Don't forget the menopausal women's rights Urmstongran! hmm

Grandad1943 Sun 22-Sept-19 21:11:54

Day6, in regard to your post @20:32 today, the Labour policy on Brexit is quite clear.

The above was again laid out by Corbyn in his BBC interview today. That being, should the Labour Party win the forthcoming General Election they will "attempt" to renegotiate parts of the withdrawal agreement, but whatever the outcome of those negotiations (successful or not) will be placed before the British electorate in a further referendum.

At a recall Delegate Conference, it will be decided by all the rank and file in attendance if the Labour Party will make any recommendation for or against acceptance of the deal, or allow all make their own individual judgment.

Of Course, there are those in the party that wish Labour to be a full remain party, but that stance, i believe, they should not adopt.

The present would policy would allow a second referendum to be conducted in as calm a public atmosphere as possible. That would be the most practical solution in the face of rabid leave supporters within this country and on this forum now going to the ridiculous and dangerous heights of calling for a civil war to gain what they wish, Day6.

Everybody should at this juncture in our countries history think and consider very carefully what they say.

Day6 Sun 22-Sept-19 21:13:40

Did they not mention planting lots of money trees too, to pay for all this? One can only hope that Labour stands no chance come the next election.

It'll be the poor old taxpayer who picks up the tab for these outlandish schemes and after a term of office the party next voted in to government will have to be the belt-tightening one, to dig the UK out of the financial mire created by Labour.

Anniebach Sun 22-Sept-19 21:19:47

McClusky said today anyone in the shadow cabinet supporting remain should stand down , Emily Thornberry,!

Posters do not need to be told ‘to think and consider ‘
grandad43, unlike the momentum/ McClusky party members we have freedom of speech within GN rules not
Union rules

Day6 Sun 22-Sept-19 21:21:07

*rabid leave supporters within this country and on this forum now going to the ridiculous and dangerous heights of calling for a civil war to gain what they wish, Day6.

Oh dear Grandad. I have pointed out to you that an hysterical REMAIN supporter, not me, decided the UK was already in the middle of a 'civil war'.

My mention of it was in a quote - quoting this "ridiculous and dangerous" (your words) Remain supporter.

I dare say I'll have to remind you of this again at some juncture, because you keep bringing it up, despite my reminding you that you have got it wrong. You are accusing me falsely.

Stop looking inept and go and lecture the hysterical Remain supporter who feels the UK is in the midst of a civil war, why don't you?

jura2 Sun 22-Sept-19 21:25:48

hysterical, ridiculous and dangerous REMAIN supporter - what a lovely calm gentle empathetic LEAVE supporter you are, DAY6 - with your head firmly stuck in ...

the sand.

Day6 Sun 22-Sept-19 21:28:32

The present would policy would allow a second referendum to be conducted in as calm a public atmosphere as possible

What total bull.

"A second referendum in as calm an atmosphere as possible" - hilarious! Yeah, that's likely to be the case. No one would bat an eyelid, would they, that the result of the first was being ignored.

Talk about Labour ripping to shreds the fabric of democracy!

When would we have the third, then the fourth, until the result suited Labour?

Grandad1943 Sun 22-Sept-19 21:32:15

Day6 Quote [Did they not mention planting lots of money trees too, to pay for all this? ] End Quote.

Day6 the Theresa May Tory government planted the first and ultimate size money tree to buy the support of the of Northern Ireland DUP party following her failed attempt to "wipe out" the Labour Party in the 2017 General election.

However, austerity was to continue to prevail for all the rest of us who reside in this country regardless of the hardship caused to so many.

However, Boris (The Buffoon) Johnson hopes all will now forget the above as he now shakes any number of "magic money trees" in a huge uncosted spending program if anyone is foolish enough to trust anything of what he states.

quizqueen Sun 22-Sept-19 21:37:48

If Labour want to abolish private schools then why not private housing as well. Then we can all live in bog standard council housing with red front doors and have no interest in striving to improve ourselves! That's Labour for you except for the eminent leaders, of course, they can have nice housing.

Grandad1943 Sun 22-Sept-19 21:43:16

Day6 there can be little chance of any further ballot in regard to Brexit being held in a considered peaceful manner while persons such as yourself you hold the views that you do.

To remind you of a previous post you made in this forum on the 29/08/19 @13:38:-
Day6 Quote [ The civil war stops when aggrieved, sore losers stop belly-aching.] End quote.

Urmstongran Sun 22-Sept-19 21:48:43

With all the pressure on Boris and his team from the Supreme Court they must have been praying for a diversion - anything for a reprieve - and true to form Labour hand them what they needed on a plate!

The Tories must feel they have to do nothing as it all falls into their laps gifted by the party of self-sabotage.

What they did to Watson on the eve of the conference at the time of the biggest crisis in a lifetime beggars belief.

Labour are a group of idiotic failures.

Oh well, it helps Boris I suppose. He’s well ahead in the polls I see.

Day6 Sun 22-Sept-19 21:51:23

hysterical, ridiculous and dangerous REMAIN supporter - what a lovely calm gentle empathetic LEAVE supporter you are

Jura - what a confused Remain supporter you are. confused

You too are quoting Grandad's words, not mine!!!!. grin grin Go and look. What's the matter with you both? grin

Anyone thinking we are in the middle of a civil war is 'hysterical' I am afraid. You might be frothing at the mouth but that is unfortunately the default position of some Remainers. (I know many now who like most of us just want us out of the EU on the 31st Oct so we can move on)

newnanny Sun 22-Sept-19 21:53:33

@Day6 do not forget their looney left promises for next manifesto

Axing private schools - not just taking their charitable tax status away but taking them back into public ownership.

Flexible working for menopausal women - this would cripple business.

Nationalising all utilities and post office - forcing shareholders to sell at below market prices.

Forcing btl LL allow private tenants to buy their houses at below market rates.

Extra taxes on people with gardens.

Agreeing a Remainer Brexit deal with EU then campaigning against it in another referendum - even EU don't like that one.

This is just what we heard about goodness knows what else they are plotting.

The maximum amount a person can gift to their child in a lifetime £125k - anything extra to have 50% tax slapped on.

I struggle to understand why any normal person without Marxist tendencies would vote for this left wing rabble.

They will get short shrift if they come to my door canvassing.

Day6 Sun 22-Sept-19 21:57:00

To remind you of a previous post you made in this forum on the 29/08/19 @13:38:-
Day6 Quote [ The civil war stops when aggrieved, sore losers stop belly-aching.] End quote.

Grandad....my "civil war" in reply to a Remainers description of guess what..."civil war" {hmm] should have been in inverted commas, maybe, but I was directly quoting a Remainer. Don't you get it?

You are (deliberately) quoting me out of context I am afraid.

You do it at every opportunity when it was not I who for one minute imagined a civil war in the UK. A Remainer did though. My reply makes sense.

You might have looked to see what went before, perhaps, given I have pointed out your error several times now?

Carry on, if that's your game Grandad, but you are making yourself look rather silly.

newnanny Sun 22-Sept-19 21:57:57

I forgot the 4 day week.

GagaJo Sun 22-Sept-19 21:59:22

Urmstongran, still sounding a HELL of a lot better than the current clown in power.

The anti Labourites would have a point if their current idiot-in-chief wasn't fiddling while the UK gets ready to burn.

Give me Corbyn anyday. The Tories are too busy shifting their money out of the UK pre-Brexit to govern.
