Thinking about the 50p coins which have been minted and are not now being used, what else can you list that was 'definite' and how long did it last before being pulled?

I'll start with an easy one: SJ said there would definitely be a budget in November and then, less than 24 hours later, said there wouldn't.

crystaltipps..anything Jeremy Corbyn has promised...that is, when you can actually pin the weak man down.

Annecan Sun 27-Oct-19 10:42:25

The referendum was only advisory

Annecan Sun 27-Oct-19 10:43:07

We must have an election
No we won't have an election

SNP once in a generation referendum. If you think you are sick of hearing about Brexit, think how we feel, we have been getting Referendum rammed down our throats by Wee Krankie for 5 years.

Amagran Sun 27-Oct-19 11:02:59

Good one, Nonnie.

mcem Sun 27-Oct-19 11:26:35

lindylou your "we" is way off beam.
Please do not include me in your sweeping generalisation!

EthelJ Sun 27-Oct-19 11:35:46

We must porogue parliament for 6 weeks so we can prepare for a queen's speech it's got nothing to do with Brexit
Then. People opposing the porguement of parliament are just trying to thwart Brexit.
We must have a queen's speech to set out our programme for government to transform services
Then the next minute we must have an election (Making any Queens Speech void and nonsense)

GrandmaKT Sun 27-Oct-19 11:36:36

Jeremy Corbyn:

We will support an election when the Benn Act is passed.
We will support an election when an extension is granted by the EU
We will support an election when No Deal is off the table

How about the lie that the only way Scotland could remain in the UK was to vote to stay in UK?
Now that's an outcome based on a lie that might well be rectified very soon!

mcem Sun 27-Oct-19 11:40:33

The only way Scotland could remain in the EU!!!

sarahellenwhitney Sun 27-Oct-19 12:18:42

Mint what ever floats your boat as long as the UK once again flies its own flags.

I doubt the country will explode on the 31st October, but a lot of folk must feel horribly tempted as Bonfire Night approaches.

Nonnie Sun 27-Oct-19 12:27:10

TM vehemently said that she would never allow a border in the Irish sea, now she has voted for one.

SirChenjin Sun 27-Oct-19 12:42:04

mcem that was one of many claims made by both sides. The Scottish referendum was 2 years before the EU one of course - and if you look closely at the post referendum analysis there’s little evidence to suggest that membership of the EU played a great part in the decision making behind voting to remain in the UK.

Was a lighthearted tongue in cheek dragonfly

Just peeped on this ‘different type of Brexit’ thread.

Not so different then!
??

mcem Sun 27-Oct-19 13:37:28

SirChenjin that claim made me stop and think but didn't change my mind about my vote.
A couple of fence-sitters I know did quote it in conversation but I don't know how they voted in the end.

SirChenjin Sun 27-Oct-19 14:41:56

It never crossed my mind - and I voted No. I don’t know anyone who voted on the basis on the outcome of a referendum that was still two years in the future.

‪As I get into my late age I really do have a fear about a Brexit for my grandchildren. We seem to be playing a game of high stakes poker at the moment. The Gov refusal to release the facts on Brexit adds to the fears. I am not prepared to gamble on others political prejudices.‬ I am not going to repeat the errors of the past. I am NOT voting Conservative at next GE, I shall vote Lib Dem.

MarthaBeck Sun 27-Oct-19 15:16:47

My daughter lives in Urmston in Trafford Manchester and is a SRN at Davyhulme. She tells me that her and many colleagues have a fear of the problems Brexit will create for the NHS, so many of the drugs and medical supplies come from within the EU. She likes me does not accept Brexit will be a Utopia and worth such a blindfolded risk for us to gamble on.

Nonnie Sun 27-Oct-19 16:08:37

Urmstongran Sun 27-Oct-19 13:34:01 why did you need to post that? WEre you complementing her on being so knowledgeable? Do you have any quotes showing how right the Brexit camp was?

Nonnie Sun 27-Oct-19 16:08:56

£350 million for the NHS

crystaltipps Sun 27-Oct-19 16:14:05

We will have a Norway style deal ( N Farage)

Anthea1948 Sun 27-Oct-19 18:44:40

Oh. I'd assumed the 50p thing was a joke. I didn't realise they actually had minted them. How arrogant of BJ.

Urmstongran Sun 27-Oct-19 19:09:40

I was just illustrating that this Brexit thread isn’t any different from all the others Nonnie
