How long will Boris last?

As a bit of amusement I was trying to work ut how long Boris will stick at the job of PM. He's not big on commitment. I think he'll want to go down in history as the man who did Brexit, but I don't think he'll wnt to stick around afterwards. I think he'll be getting himself bounced up to the H of Lords once it's done. Anyone else want to guess at how long he'll last?

I feel let down by the election. I can't believe that people could vote these cruel uncaring people in again. The Brookebond chimps would do a better job of running the country.

EthelJ Wed 18-Dec-19 19:23:18

I would hope not very long. But I fear it may be for a long time.

GagaJo Wed 18-Dec-19 19:30:00

phantom12, a lot of us feel that way.

I agree EthelJ. Boris is in it for the power. He won't give it up easily.

Hopefully he'll win at least two terms in office, maybe even longer. Labour in its present form should never be allowed anywhere near 10 Downing Street. When you see who is in the race to be the leader of the Labour Party you realise they still have a lot to learn.

But we are leaving and Boris won so put that in your pipe and smoke it and shut up

Well Brexit certainly lowered the tone here on Gransnet.

GagaJo Wed 18-Dec-19 19:35:24

Irishlady, how can you say that while PRAISING the liar Johnson?

Fair enough, you support a different party to me, but to be 1) so rude and 2) so blinkered...

varian Wed 18-Dec-19 19:39:02

Talking of the liar Johnson and the fraudulent referendum, I wonder when we will see the report on Russian interference in our politics?

Irishlady Wed 18-Dec-19 19:45:46

GagaJo, how dare YOU be so rude. Surely this is a forum where we can express an opinion without being called rude and blinkered simply because I don't agree with you. Also I didn't actually praise Boris Johnson. The reason I voted Tory is because we have a very good Tory MP here and I have voted for him before. I still can't understand why you thought I was being rude and blinkered though.

GagaJo Wed 18-Dec-19 19:49:02

Labour in its present form should never be allowed anywhere near 10 Downing Street. Why? Because you don't like them? The youth of the UK voted for them en masse.

When you see who is in the race to be the leader of the Labour Party you realise they still have a lot to learn. Why? Because the party of socialism is still socialist?

So you castigate a party that stays true to its beliefs while voting for a liar? And then are insulted when you're challenged on it? Hypocritical.

Exactly Varian. The report from someone on here about the 100 plus Russian bots that had followed her on Twitter being switched off en masse after the election was chilling. So much of this election was online media driven, it's frightening to think of how many people were influenced by them.

Irishlady Wed 18-Dec-19 20:06:44

GagaJo, I would rather have Boris Johnson in Downing Street than a terrorist loving, anti-sematic marxist like Corbyn. Oh, and by the way, Corbyn lies as well.

inkcog Wed 18-Dec-19 20:10:07

Which of the potential candidates do you find so objectionable please Irishlady?

MerylStreep Wed 18-Dec-19 20:13:30

Firecracker
its beginning to look a lot like Brexit hallelujah ????????
It's a lovely feeling after all this time to know that it's going to happen and there's nothing remainers can do or say that's going to change that fact.

Chestnut Wed 18-Dec-19 20:14:29

Talking of the liar Johnson and the fraudulent referendum
varian - yet again you cannot even say the word 'referendum' without inserting 'fraudulent' in front of it.
So yet again I ask you.......If it was fraudulent as you maintain then why didn't Gina Miller stop the process? She had the finest legal minds working on it and did everything possible to stop it happening.
You seem unable to answer that question.

Hetty58 Wed 18-Dec-19 20:17:51

How long will he last? Five years maximum, as people will notice when the promises aren't delivered.

GagaJo Wed 18-Dec-19 20:18:22

Ahhhh I see Irishlady. You're going with the Tory lying propaganda rather than facts.

You CAN support the Tories without believing the lies you know. An independent company today proved that the media doubled the Tory propaganda (lies) in this election AND increased the attacks on Labour by 66%.

Therefore MOST of what you read about Labour was a lie. Yet you wish to continue to peddle fake news as fact.

Find a Labour / Corbyn lie. Provide evidence. The last person I challenged to that couldn't.

Pixxie7 Wed 18-Dec-19 20:21:02

I think labour will careful over their next leader and then hopefully pull things back after a further 5 years of tories.

nannypink1 Wed 18-Dec-19 20:34:08

JenniferEccles I totally agree with you. Nice to see some positivity and patriotic views instead of going against democracy and endless squabbling like kids. Let’s give him a chance. I have every faith in him. Only time will tell but for gods sake let’s be positive

Irishlady Wed 18-Dec-19 20:37:47

GagaJo here is one from their 2017 manifesto, Immigration and freedom of movement

Labour’s 2017 manifesto stated that “Freedom of movement will end when we leave the European Union. Britain’s immigration system will change.”

Now he's talking about having open door immigration.
I agree with immigration but it has to be managed.

The reason that, in spite of the fraudulent referendum having
been corrupted by proven illegality, it was not possible for Gina Miller or anyone else to stop the process, was simply because it was merely advisory. If it had been mandatory it would certainly have been annulled.

Chestnut Wed 18-Dec-19 21:07:35

That explanation makes no sense whatsoever varian. If it was proven to be illegal then Gina Miller and her cronies would have stopped it.

Firecracker123 Wed 18-Dec-19 21:21:21

Yes MerylStreep hallelujah ? no stopping us now. No EU flags flying outside the House of Commons, no Bercow, the remainer MPs gone.

varian Wed 18-Dec-19 21:28:37

It might not make sense, but apparently it is the law. In th UK referenda can only be advisory.

Irishlady Wed 18-Dec-19 21:31:19

I've been looking forward to this since the day I put my X in the box saying leave on 23 June 2016.

Oopsminty Wed 18-Dec-19 21:33:57

The youth of the UK voted for them en masse

Not really.

Also they will soon grow up and their voting habits will probably change
