It was strange that Commonwealth citizens living in the UK were allowed to vote in the fraudulent referendum, but EU citizens living in the UK were disenfranchised, unless they were Irish.

Oopsminty, yes, they did. jura2 posted the statistics on here somewhere (I've looked but can't find them). Something like 60% of under 30's voted Labour.

Saetana - I agree, Boris has successfully navigated his way into a very strong position despite every attempt to bring him down. The treatment he received over the last couple of months was enough to bring most people to their knees. I was no Boris fan until I saw how he stood up to them and I admired his resilience.

Johnson is not hiding his brilliance under a bushel. He is what he is, which is why he wouldn't face scrutiny.

Exactly Hetty58. They haven't done those things in TEN years, they're hardly going to start now.

I don't think he will last all that long. He'll probably manage to stay until he's done enough to be able to claim that he got Brexit done but I think he will become bored fairly soon.

He has enjoyed going all over the place and taking advantage of every photo opportunity (I'm sure he loves seeing his picture on the front pages) but being PM is a lot of hard work and he's a bit averse to that.

When he was London Mayor people I knew who worked at City Hall said he was lazy and never read the background papers before meetings, always relying on winging it.

Still we shall see. I suppose it depends on how much control Dominic Cummings has over him and he probably knows where the bodies are buried.

They are already backing off on 50,000 extra nurses, apparently 18,000 of those are existing nurses they are going to persuade not to retire. The worn out nurses I know would want a very large carrot indeed to persuade them to stay.

Varian, yes I am Irish. I was brought to England by my parents when I was 9 years old, I am now 72 so have lived here most of my life. I'm married to an English man and when I was younger I served 4 years in Her Majestys army, the Womens Royal Army Corps to be exact. From the time I was old enough to vote I have always done so.

Varian, I forgot to add that I also have had a British passport for over 50 years. I think that entitles me to vote, don't you?

You are certainly entitled to vote, Irishlady,absolutely, but unfortunately many EU citizens who have lived here for many years, working and paying taxes, and even some who were born here were not entitled to vote either in the fraudulent referendum of 2016 or the general election.

I agree Varian about people being able to vote, but this is certainly not exclusive to the UK. My son, married to his Canadian wife and father to his Canadian children, works and pays taxes in Canada. He is not allowed to vote in any type of election unless he takes Canadian citizenship.

How can our country hold its head up high, when our PM is on record as saying, 'F**k business', when he has disparaged single parents in print, when he has expressed overtly Islamaphobic views, when his view of (his own) family life is so opposite to the traditional Tory respect for family, when he is under investigation for abuse of public money through his shenanigans with Jennifer Arcuri, when police were needed to be called to investigate a rowdy domestic event with his (current) girlfriend. I'm ashamed at our image abroad, as represented by this appalling man.
