I’ve just been speaking to my friend in Queensland who is watching our dismal news and is worried that England is in chaos.
I’ve told her it’s the press and Tv news giving all the bad news and non of the good.
She told me how much better Australia are handling the pandemic, completely closing all its borders and airports and in the next breathe, she tells me her ex has just flown back to Brisbane from Jakarta where he’s been working for the last 6 months.
My other friend in Gibraltar tells me of their strict lockdown but I know for a fact that someone else who lives there, had flown to UK and back in the last two weeks.
Other country’s are telling everyone how well they are doing, except the UK.
We need to stop it!

So is the infection/death rate bad in Gibraltar and Australia? I don’t quite get what point you’re trying to make especially if someone has been flying into the UK without quarantine.

MayBee70, the point I was making is that my friends were both telling me how wonderfully their Governments were dealing with the virus and how strict the lockdowns, and how their airports had been closed down, then in the next sentence telling me their ex had just flown in from Jakarta.
Why do you not understand?
If I told you that we were all under strict lockdown apart from Key Workers, then told you my ex had just flown back into the country from Spain or Italy.
You would assume the lockdown was not so strict.
As I said, other countries like to advertise how well they are dealing with the virus, while our country just likes to advertise the worst of the situation.

And the point I'm trying to make is that both Australia and Gibraltar both seem to have dealt with the virus very well so, even if there have been lapses thousands of people don't seem to have died as a result. And the lapses you mention appear to be in areas that our government, thus far, haven't even covered.

I wouldn't have objected a dictatorial Thatcher type Conservative leader at the moment, to be honest. One that would tell people to social distance, wear masks etc etc. As it is we have an almost hippie type PM who believes that personal freedom should extend to people being able to infect themselves if they want to and infect everyone else as well. Lockdown has well and truly broken down where I am and we'll all be paying the price in a few weeks time. But because of the governments gaslighting it will all be 'our fault'.

The press should be open to reporting either good or bad answers if it asks questions. Not leading questions so they only get the bad answers that they wanted.

If everything is being done properly and in the best possible way how can there be any "bad" answers? If the answer to a question exposes the government's inadequacies that's hardly the journalist's fault.

It would appear that the govt were very selective when selecting the medical advice that they were going to publish to the country in the daily briefings. Hardly surprising with Cummings being involved. So it's no wonder that the press take them to task. Piers Morgan is a good example with no political axe to grind - at least as far as the Tories are concerned.

Slightly reminiscent of the orange haired one over the pond - sacking his advisers when they disagree with him. At least BJ hasn't gone that far.
