GNHQ edit: Following on from previous thread linked to here: Will he resign?

MissAdventure Tue 26-May-20 20:27:50

Have you seen Pie's report on the cummings trip? grin

Callistemon Tue 26-May-20 21:07:23

Neither parent was ill at the same time, GGUmpteenth.
The child helped his mother to care for his sick father.
Very irresponsible imo.

I don't think I've ever seen so many posters with different political views in agreement over anything.

merlotgran Tue 26-May-20 21:10:20

Is there a link, MissA?

MissAdventure Tue 26-May-20 21:12:02

Oh lord, merlot, it's not for the more sensitive people, or I would have posted it.
Fittingly funny, though.

MissAdventure Tue 26-May-20 21:14:55

I didn't say "fittingly".
I must (as a person on benefits) go and buy the latest phone.
The original keys on this one stopped working, and it keeps correcting me, only wrongly.

Lucca thank you. grin

GGumteenth Tue 26-May-20 21:22:30

Were you there Callistemon? According to what he said the mother began to get better as he got worse. However, he couldn't have known this was how it was going to happen. I will ask you all again, would it have been better to find the child, in the London house, with two dead parents? They did not have the ability to see the future but they did have the nouse to prepare for the worse, just in case. Are you damning him for that?

MissAdventure Tue 26-May-20 21:24:59

Yes, I am.
Absolutely.

MissAdventure Tue 26-May-20 21:26:05

So are 750 odd thousand others, too.

MissAdventure Tue 26-May-20 21:27:53

What else should we believe then, according to what dom and dommer have said?

merlotgran Tue 26-May-20 21:28:02

Thank you, Lucca. It's just how I feel at the moment. grin

MissAdventure Tue 26-May-20 21:30:35

Me too. grin

GGumteenth Tue 26-May-20 21:32:07

Nothing on the 9 o'clock news about the idea being binned Whitewave - it would be even before they have looked into it if it has been so a little surprising.

Perhaps it wasn't the BBC News? If it has been "binned" I'm sure it will be in print somewhere - or maybe it's just wishful thinking on your part, who knows? Obviously, as yet, no one.

MayBee70 Tue 26-May-20 21:38:17

Actually all of what I'm going on is what Cummings said and his wife wrote/said. Although, strangely enough, they both seem to give a totally different account of what happened? So is it any wonder that the whole thing stinks?

merlotgran Tue 26-May-20 21:46:42

You'd think he would have read or re-read his wife's article before writing his statement. Getting their stories to match is surely a priority if you're going to lie your way out of trouble?

Maybe he thought we were all to stupid to notice?

MayBee70 Tue 26-May-20 21:48:59

Obviously doesn't watch Line of Duty...

Factfinder Tue 26-May-20 21:58:45

If only this was Facebook, we could do a poll. I'd love to be able to relay to my husband what the Gransnet consensus was. He and me are divided on this issue.

MissAdventure Tue 26-May-20 22:03:23

I'm sure polls could be introduced here.
I'm also sure they won't be.

janipat Tue 26-May-20 22:16:41

GGumteenth bit melodramatic eh? The choice was drive an infected person to Durham or have a little boy alone with two dead parents? Amazingly I've missed the news of hundreds of families who didn't make such journeys and who must have perished leaving their little children alone with dead decaying parents. There was plenty of help available to them in London. For goodness sake do you really think Dominic Cummings couldn't summon up any amount of help he wanted at the click of his fingers?

nightowl Tue 26-May-20 22:29:15

What a pity my son didn’t have the foresight to bring his four year old to us when he, a single parent, was diagnosed with coronavirus. He cared for him alone. We all played by the rules. We obviously just don’t care enough about each other angry

janipat Tue 26-May-20 22:40:46

nightowl you obviously care enough about each other and the wider community to actually keep to the rules. If your son had become too ill to care for your grandchild, you'd have stepped in I'm sure. Your son has integrity, pity DC and BJ are devoid of this quality.

Sparkling Tue 26-May-20 22:46:01

If he had anything about him he would resign, all this badgering by the other side and the press going over old ground is detracting from Corona, these daily bulletins should stop, its just feeding the vultures, there will be another spike as people haven't got the message which should be clearer. Boris' loyalty is misplaced, he went back to work much too soon and he obviously trusts and wants this man as his advisor. DD should do the honourable thing and resign Gregory any more damage is done. It is upsetting seeing all these people on the beaches and tubes, the NHS must be so disspurited by all this, they are working themselves into tge ground. Get cleR he's sages out there, get rid of Dc if he won't resign, and do one press conference a week with clear directives..

SueDonim Tue 26-May-20 23:44:04

Gumteenth your post at 21:22 this evening is beyond parody! Should we now brace ourselves for the discovery of a tsunami of abandoned children with dead parents in British homes?

growstuff Wed 27-May-20 03:22:50

Sparkling You are making a huge mistake in thinking that Cummings would behave according to social norms. The man is an anarchist and completely amoral. He's probably laughing at all this because the point is he really doesn't care. Listen to what he's said to journalists about not caring what people think about him.
