Where's the P.M.? Shouldn't he be in view, not hiding away ?

Look at the disruptions of recent days;
Exam results and fudged response from Education secretary , passing the buck, stretching the truth about when he really knew about the algorithm,

increase in covid figures
;
Migrants in small boats and Patel's response,

News of contract to work on Ofqual awarded to long term associates of Gove and Cummings without tender.

Not removing whip from MP accused of rape.

So it goes on .Surely a P.M worth his salt should give the nation the impression he is in charge. As usual Johnson is nowhere to be seen.

Why would you not be having a good holiday because you have your baby with you?! No doubt they have plenty of help if required as most hotels offer family service, so would hardly be a tie! A lot of parents do actually enjoy having little ones with them, we certainly did!
Didn't Offqual have just a tinsy bit to do with the exam fiasco? Didn't notice too many apologies from them for their completely inadequate algorithm!
I thought the question was, how many holidays had Boris had THIS year, not ones he had years ago! Do you people never give up?!!!

He does seem to have had a lot of holidays in the last nine months. I've lost count.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 20-Aug-20 18:15:47

It is uncanny really. Johnson always manages to be on holiday when there is a crises of some sort.

The first was during the riots in London when he was mayor, and he has continued the pattern ever since.

May be it is because he is so often on holiday?

I don’t understand the obsession with seeing the Prime Minister - nobody saw teachers ( amongst others) for months but we’ve been reliably informed that they were working the whole time. Different standards, much?

?

growstuff Thu 20-Aug-20 18:33:21

Since when have teachers been expected to lead the whole nation? confused

Daisymae Thu 20-Aug-20 18:37:52

I think that having his movements tracked is making life difficult for Johnson. This is not what he signed up for. Of course he should be visible, not saying he should never have time off, but he does take it to the limit. Not the nine o'clock news on Instagram suggested that people should check their sheds and outbuildings!

and fridges ;)

Jabberwok Thu 20-Aug-20 18:53:54

Oh I give up! This conversation gets more idiotic by the minute! I'll leave you jokers to it! Love to know where all these holidays were, in the last 9 months of course!

Ellianne Thu 20-Aug-20 19:05:41

And Monsieur Macron??

OK let’s have a look.

Almost immediately after the election Johnson spent a few weeks in Mustique. It was controversial because the source of the private villa was never disclosed. Never the less Johnson was absent for the beginning of the pandemic and the existential crises in Iran.

Johnson was then Awol during February and March. First he simply didn’t turn up for storm Dennis and the devastating floods.
Johnson failed to attend the first few cobra meetings over covid.

Johnson was absent for most of the lockdown in Chequers.

He is now awol whilst the young and their exams have been thrown into chaos.

lemongrove Thu 20-Aug-20 19:23:41

Ellianne Oh nobody on GN will mind Macron having a holiday? it’s only the UK PM having one that bothers them.

lemongrove Thu 20-Aug-20 19:25:53

Mind you, since they dislike him so much I can’t understand why they need his constant presence.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 20-Aug-20 19:29:19

Urmstongran

I like Boris.
He’s had Covid and deserves a summer week off like anybody else.
Plus, he didnt take paternity leave as the naysayers predicted he would when they called him lazy.

But you see this is a pattern that he has followed since being mayor. Johnson had always been known for being work shy and lazy, this recent absence is merely a continuation of that.

Kestrel Thu 20-Aug-20 19:41:52

I believe that Johnson is only there to be a figurehead to push Brexit thru, managed by Cummings, ERG group etc. He'll be gone when no deal Brexit goes thru (January-ish)

Why is it idiotic to expect a leader to lead? Sorry, but I seem to have higher standards than you.

Poor Ug will be desolated... grin

I suspect that you and growstuff are correct.

Who will we get next, I wonder?

Whitewavemark2 Thu 20-Aug-20 19:47:44

Johnson is only deputy.

Cummings will remain as PM

growstuff Thu 20-Aug-20 19:51:33

Sunak or Gove.

growstuff Thu 20-Aug-20 19:52:58

Cummings is employed by Johnson, but if Gove becomes PM, my guess would be that Cummings will stay. I suspect Cummings has been working for Gove all along anyway.

It certainly seems that way. What a lot of bastards they are.

If I were Johnson, I wouldn't be accepting cups of tea from Gove grin grin grinbrewbrewbrew

Poor Ug will be desolated...
Why so?

I voted for Boris because he was the only one to promise to ‘Get Brexit Done’.

After 1 January 2021 he will have fulfilled his promise & my vote won’t have been wasted. I’m happy that David Frost is negotiating severance from the EU. He’s dubbed ‘the details man the details men go to’.

After it’s done I’m happy to have someone new in No. 10. People say Boris is lazy and he’ll step down. Actually I don’t think he will but we shall have to wait and see.
?

MaizieD Thu 20-Aug-20 20:23:35

Poor Ug will be desolated...
Why so?

Because, you very frequently say that Johnson cheers you up.

And you're going to need a good deal of cheering up when all hell breaks loose in the first few weeks of 2021... grin

Urmstongran Thu 20-Aug-20 20:39:41

True. He does cheer many of us up (just maybe not on here).
But I’ll be cheered to see Brexit done. Boris will have kept his word so I’ll be happy.

After that?
Whatever. I lent him my vote.
?

varian Thu 20-Aug-20 20:59:13

I would be cheered up by an honourable, diligent, honest PM, but not by this immoral, lazy, luar UG.Have you no sense of decency?
