This government is useless in everything they are doing or not doing. Demonstrations have not been effective. So an online group has been created which it hopes can spread gain millions of people with aim of then saying look we want to remove this useless government.

So what do GNetters think could this work?

Colin Blakemore

I am creating A group of like minded individuals to remove the government

Nothing at all Maizie.

Avalon suggested I read a range of sources. It's not often the Sun, Daily Mail and Guardian are on the same side grin.

The only people who believe Soros conspiracy theories are right-wing and not that well-informed. It always amazes me that people can swallow this kind of stuff.

growstuff Sat 22-Aug-20 16:52:03

The Telegraph had an article debunking anti-Soros propaganda too, but it's behind a paywall.

Meanwhile, back in the Tory party- there is one reason, and one reason alone, why Gavin Williamson has not been sacked. I suppose it is obvious.

Hmm ...

Need for a scapegoat if opening schools to all goes wrong?

As a former Tory whip, he has "dirt" in his little notebook?

Sacking him wouldn't make other cabinet ministers look good in comparison?

He is even stupider and more incompetent than his boss?

'Which poor souls? Sorry, I missed it.'

If ' you missed it' that does not surprise me as there seems to be a lot of people who have 'missed it'. A lot deny what is happening or claim conspiracy theories when they ' know about it'.

Retired Police Officer David Dorn shot and killed during riots and looting in St Louis.

Richmond Police Chief Will Smith recounted how protesters "intentionally set a fire to an occupied building on Broad Street,"

"This is not the only occupied building that has been set fire to over the last two days. But they prohibited us from getting on scene.

“We had to force our way to make a clear path for the fire department. Protestors intercepted that fire apparatus several blocks away with vehicles and blocked that fire department’s access to the structure fire. Inside that home was a child.”

The child was able to be saved, Smith said as he appeared to hold back tears."

Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney condemned those who acted with violence.

“Peaceful protests in solidarity against the injustices of black men hijacked by bad actors. As soon as you loot a store or set a public bus on fire, you're not demonstrating. You've made it about you," Stoney stated.

"When you block law enforcement from allowing fire services to get to a home that has caught on fire. You are not inspiring change.

"When you knock out windows of businesses that had nothing to do with this, you are not inspiring change. That's an insult to the cause.”

Secoriea Turner's Parents Attack Those Who Shot 8-Year-Old Girl in Atlanta

She was only 8 years old. She would have been on Tik Tok dancing on her phone, just got done eating.

"We understand the frustration of Rayshard Brooks. We didn't have anything to do with that. We're innocent. My baby didn't mean no harm."

"Somebody knows something," Turner added before handing the microphone to the girl's father, Secoriya Williamson.

They say black lives matter," Williamson said. "You killed your own. You killed your own this time. Just because of a barrier. They killed my baby because she crossed a barrier and made a U-turn.

"You killed a child. She didn't do nothing to nobody...she just wanted to get home to see her cousin."

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms spoke out against those who shot at Secoriea Turner and her family.

"You shot and killed a baby," the mayor said. "And there wasn't just one shooter, there were at least two shooters. An 8-year-old girl was killed last night because her mother was riding down the street. If Secoriea was not safe last night, none of us are safe."

I could carry on with plenty more records of death /violence/intimidation/ destruction but to say you 'missed it' sums up a lot of the problem which in turn causes people to deny facts.

growstuff Sat 22-Aug-20 20:20:06

I didn't miss the reporting of deaths. I missed the connection to Antifa. Do you have any links?

growstuff Sat 22-Aug-20 20:22:04

I see you're still being your acerbic self.

Have you ever thought of being just a tad more polite? hmm

POGS Sat 22-Aug-20 20:49:19

You wouldn't believe them so I think I would be wasting my time.

As for your other comment I will not rise to your bait.

trisher Sat 22-Aug-20 21:12:44

POGS if you are not able to understand that ANTIFA is not an organisation but a linked series of people and organisations and that amongst those are some individuals who choose to use violence it is no use discussing anything with you. Perhaps you could look at it another way, do you believe that there is an organised white suprematist movement which is deliberately orchestrating and organising against non-white people? And do you believe it is wong to demonstrate against those ideas?
You do realise that the ANTIFA movement is based on the belief that had enough people demonstrated against the Nazis in the 1930s Hitler would never have come to power and WW2 would not have happened.
Would you rather allow fascism to prosper?

Devorgilla Sat 22-Aug-20 22:05:20

growstuff 17.15pm. I think your second guess is probably the most accurate. He knows where the bodies are.

There are always any number of groups in a country who has some members who are willing to commit violent acts in pursuit of their cause.

In the USA these include, white supremacists, white separatists, American freedom party, American Nazi party amongst many others on the far right.
You then have animal rights activists, environmental rights, black separatists, etc on the left, and Antifa members who fight against the fascistic ideology purported by the far right in USA, some of which are listed above.

With populism operating in the USA and causing division as populists do, there will be a volatile atmosphere caused by these division, with violence being much more likely.

It is inevitable.

growstuff Sat 22-Aug-20 22:21:46

It would appear POGS can't back up her assertion that Antifa was responsible for the deaths of any "poor souls", so has flounced off after her latest attempt to be rude.

The only other person who seems to have raving delusions about Antifa is Trump.

Eloethan Sat 22-Aug-20 22:32:49

The desire to change the government must come from the general population and result in a general election. I do not have that much faith in general elections because their outcome is so often dictated by newspapers, the majority of which urge people to vote Conservative. However, though an imperfect system in that respect and in respect of how votes are represented, it is the best thing we have at the moment.

As to the comment "I thought the only way to remove a government was a general election, silly me"

I think there are numerous examples where democratically elected governments have been removed by one means or another, to the detriment of the general population and without majority consent.

Callistemon Sat 22-Aug-20 22:39:28

Have you ever thought of being just a tad more polite?

I have never known POGS be anything less than polite even if I may not always agree with what she or he says.
Another poster who almost always disagrees with POGS has said the same.

Callistemon Sat 22-Aug-20 22:42:03

You're just being personal now, growstuff.
And that is totally uncalled for.

her could be a him ?
Don't assume.

lemongrove Sat 22-Aug-20 23:03:23

POGS always manages to be polite growstuff....which is more than can be said for you.
I would say that ‘acerbic’ fits the bill for just about all your replies to POGS.
Stop being personal and try and realise that other posters don’t always know less than you do.

You're normally quite sensible, growstuff and can argue rationally.

What's happened?

and the troops arrive to defend their comrade! How amusing!
Now you're getting silly.

lemongrove Sat 22-Aug-20 23:20:22

Do show which posts by POGS have been ‘that rude’ to you
growstuff because there isn’t a single one!

POGS Sat 22-Aug-20 23:43:05

I do not flounce off!

I will however not rise to your bait, certainly not at this time of the day.

We will have to agree to disagree as your posts are obviously only interested in making personal comments once again and that makes debate impossible.

tickingbird, the OP launched what could have been an interesting discussion, but it has digressed into fantasy thinking by a few forum members and one other who seems to determined to do nothing else but throw personal insults at all others.

In reality, the only way this government can be removed would be through a vote of no confidence in the House of Commons, and that will certainly not come about at any time in the near future.

Any "coup" would require thousands of the armed forces personal to be complicit in such and they swear loyalty to the Queen and not any political body.

It is all a pie in the sky discussion by dreamers. ?

Anniebach Sun 23-Aug-20 10:06:49

Agree grandad43

I want to add, POGS never makes personal attacks and is never rude .
