That was quick......wonder what’s going on?

Oldwoman70 Sat 03-Oct-20 11:11:07

blueflinders "I was thinking the same thing! He knows he’s losing the election and what better way to delay the voting."

I don't think this can be true as I believe it is not possible to delay the election without an Act of Congress (I am happy to be corrected by any American GNs).

Yes the government did downplay his illness, mild symptoms, in great form, good spirits etc. Precautionary tests, observation, running the country from his hospital bed etc. I did wonder how anyone could be in ITU and be sitting up and joking, but who knows. Where has anyone said hospital staff lied ? the hospital staff didn’t issue press releases the politicians did. Someone is trying to twist the facts here.

As I saw it, it was only once Boris left hospital that the reports of him being at death’s door and his life being saved by the ‘ 48 hour bedside vigils’ of the two NHS nurses appeared, then were repeated ( and embellished) on social media, whereas previous reports were that he was ‘in good spirits, laughing and joking’ so it depends which scenario you choose to believe. The media definitely did not report the situation truthfully, either with regards to the ‘ precautionary measures only’ or the ‘ near to death’ scenario. I don’t think any NHS staff ever commented on his actual condition, so, as said before, we shall never know.
I am sure that if there was anything which could show Boris in a better light, then Dominic Cummings would not have hesitated to use it.

A military hospital is a very different entity to a state NHS one.

Elainecoley1957 Sat 03-Oct-20 11:15:54

Maybe he’ll learn some empathy!!!

Shalene777 Sat 03-Oct-20 11:21:23

Why do people think that if you have money it willsave your life?
He will get the best treatment possible, of that I have no doubt, but if it is his time to go no amount of money will stop it.

I would never take comfort knowing that someone I dislike is ill, I think it says a lot about the people who gloat at Boris, Trump or anyone else who has been infected.

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 03-Oct-20 11:23:13

Does he really have it? Has he paid his docs to make it official?
I don't believe a word of what he says. He's probably going for the sympathy vote for the election.

If it so happens he does have it, then i hope he learns humility
while recovering

Trump has responsibilities to his country and his family. Because of his abject failure, tens and tens of thousands have lost their lives and who knows how many children have been orphaned. I have sympathy for his many victims but none for him at all. He caught the virus almost certainly through his own arrogance and stupidity and directly and indirectly infected many others. He made choices and now he’s living with the consequences . The tragedy will be if he emerges unscathed and thereby feeds the myth that the virus is no big deal and goes onto win the election. There is no good outcome at all that I can envisage

Georgesgran Sat 03-Oct-20 11:40:18

Like most others I can’t stand the man. Unfortunately I can foresee two scenarios - he has a mild case and comes out like the Messiah, saying it’s all a plot from China to take over the World OR he has a really serious reaction (like Boris) and comes out fired up to acknowledge how dangerous the virus can be and encourages the USA to get on board.

Oldbat1 Sat 03-Oct-20 11:46:53

I don’t wish anyone to experience this awful virus BUT perhaps now he realises the virus doesn’t have respect for anyone.

MaryXYX Sat 03-Oct-20 11:48:46

The theory I've seen is that he realised the debate was a disaster and is faking an infection to dodge the next one. He'll make a 'miraculous' recovery and credit it to hydroxychloroquine in which he has shares.

suziewoozie Sat 03-Oct-20 11:52:33

The fact that so many ( here and elsewhere) think it may be fake news just shows how far Trump’s serial lying about everything has shaped this awful ‘new world order’.

Nannan2 Sat 03-Oct-20 11:56:15

I think Gwyneth, that they meant the PRESS and TV people and/or the politicians press representatives had lied- NOT the NHS workers!

Barmeyoldbat Sat 03-Oct-20 11:59:44

Susiewoozie you said what I feel about DT. As for Boris, we have been through this all before and there are some of us, me included, who didn't believe he was ill as was made out.

Rosina Sat 03-Oct-20 11:59:58

Medical matters, and details about illness and so forth should be kept to a minimum. He may be President but nobody needs a blow by blow account of his state of health and treatment. I worked in a large organisation where a newsletter went around weekly, and the person in charge found it necessary to state why people were off sick, and in one instance details of some rather personal surgery that one colleague had undergone. Unbelievable - she would be sued now I expect!

suziewoozie Sat 03-Oct-20 12:02:47

ThanksNan I’d add however that the media were quoting information given by No 10/ various cabinet ministers. Gwyneth appears to have disappeared but her Humpty Dumpty posts are still here.

Notsooldat75 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:09:53

I hope The Fall First Lady recovers quickly.

Notsooldat75 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:10:15

Sorry, The First Lady!

suziewoozie Sat 03-Oct-20 12:14:41

FLOTUS was equally irresponsible - she cannot have given any thought at all to her son as she floated around maskless.

Candelle Sat 03-Oct-20 12:19:27

I must be dim or being good to myself, naïve, as it didn't cross my mind that as he is trailing in the election statistics, he or more likely, his team, could engineer a stunt such as this (if indeed true).

We will probably never know until one of his team sells their story in an biography in the years to come.

Heathcliff, wishing you a speedy recovery.

Marieeliz Sat 03-Oct-20 12:21:18

What a disgrace this site is. Just hope none of you get it.

As an American, I take offense to all the negative comments. When Boris was in the hospital, we prayed for your leader on a daily basis. We ask that you would put aside such vicious comments and pray for all who are impacted by this dreadful virus.

Marieeliz Sat 03-Oct-20 12:27:47

Gigi7, I ready come on these political forums. There are some really sad people, very left wing, and as per usual, don't tolerate anyone with an opinion, however slightly different, to theirs.

Marieeliz Sat 03-Oct-20 12:28:21

Should be rarely.

I take offence at your President- he’s told lie after lie after lie about the virus. His lies and cavalier behaviour has resulted in tens and tens of thousands of deaths. He damages the rest of us as we hear and see what he does and says and have sadly many people taken in by him. Pray for whom you want ( I don’t care as I’m am atheist) but don’t expect me to care about your President whose influence on my country and my world is evil and unforgivable.

collius Sat 03-Oct-20 12:37:39

Like many of you I thought how convenient for DT to get the virus now. With (it’s reported) the election results going against him and after his disastrous confrontation with Joe it looks to me like a sympathy stunt. If he emerges from this ebullient, boastful and his usual arrogant self I truly will disbelieve he’s had it. If he is genuinely ill then I feel sorry for him. However, having been following Trumps progress over the last couple of years I am truly cynical about anything he says. In my opinion he is a bullying, dangerous liar. Please America vote him out.
