I called right wingers "genteel" because we left wingers had been referred to as "rough" and as they are diametrically opposite to us, I assumed they nest be genteel. Sorry if this doesn't fit, neither does "rough". So perhaps we should ignore both.

Thank you Sparklefizz, much appreciated . While my Aunt was a very old lady she was, a bit like the Queen, in pretty good nick! The frightening thing was how quickly she went from being ok to very ill to death. I think if people realised how quickly and lethally this virus can strike they might be more prepared to obey government guidelines in order to try and stamp it out. We live in hopes!

Additionally, for someone to explain why Angela Raynor muttering 'scum' then apologising is proof she isn't fit to hold office where in contrast, our PM can use language most of us would consign to the gutter. There are numerous examples on this thread. "spaffing up the wall", muslim women described as 'letter boxes', disgusting comments about gay men. The list is too long to repeat.

Janpt perhaps instead of accusing GN of left wing bias (I can assure you it isn't) you could address the question. What has this government done well? Its test and trace system is a joke and unfit for purpose. If an efficient system was in place there would be a chance of getting things under control.

Honestly Lemon, Janpt, I am just appalled at a the rudeness on this thread to both of you on a personal level, and am amazed that either of you still attempt to offer other opinions let alone pursue them!!
My 95 year old aunt died on Saturday, in her excellent Care Home where she had been resident for two years. Yes, she died of Covid yes we are very upset as she was much loved by us all . No we are not blaming the government, no we will not be on TV or anywhere else accusing anyone of mismanagement, lack of judgement or anything else. As far as we are concerned, the government have done their best in very difficult unpresidented circumstances as has th Care Home! We had hoped she would get that telegram, but there you go! Boris didn't say the virus would be over by Xmas, he said he was determined to get the virus under control and be able to relax the rules for the holiday period. Other countries have had exactly the same problems as we have, but of course we're the only country to get any criticism! How very predictable particularly on here!

I would just quite like it if those defending the government would address some or any of the issues raised. Numerous posters have mentioned the endless lists of inappropriate language used by johnson, how is he any different to angela rayner in this regard.

5) And GagaJo only mentioned the five years of study she did to become a teacher AFTER she had been told it only took one year.
